Afghanistan respects Crimea's right to self-determination – Karzai

        Published time: March 22, 2014 22:31

President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai told a US congressional delegation that he respects the decision of the people of Crimea to reunite with Russia. His comment follows the March 16 referendum in which 96 percent of voters opted to join the Russian Federation.

The events in Crimea and Ukraine were among several issues discussed in a Kabul meeting between Karzai and the group of Democratic and Republican congressmen. The bipartisan delegation was led by Senator Kelly Ayotte.

Karzai made it clear that Afghanistan respects the free will of the people of Crimea and Sevastopol to decide their own future, the Afghan president’s office said on its website.

Despite Western claims that the accession of Crimea to Russia will never be recognized internationally, Afghanistan and many other nations have backed the decision made by the Crimean population.

On Friday, Ukraine recalled its ambassador to Armenia after the country’s president, Serzh Sargsyan, told Vladimir Putin in a phone conversation that the Crimean referendum was a “model for the realization of self-determination.”

Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Syria, Venezuela, and North Korea have also supported the right to self-determination for the people of Crimea.

On Friday, Crimea and Sevastopol – which used to be part of Ukraine – officially joined Russia, with President Putin signing the finalizing decree.

Previously, Russian lawmakers ratified an international treaty with Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, which the sides signed at the Kremlin on March 18.

Crimea’s rejoining of Russia was triggered by an armed coup in Kiev, which saw democratically elected Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich ousted.

The uprising of the predominantly Russian-speaking region of Crimea began after the new self-proclaimed authorities passed a law revoking the regional status of the Russian language.

It resulted in a referendum in which 83 percent of the Crimean population participated. An overwhelming majority of over 96 percent voted in favor of reunification with Russia.

          Dhaka observes Crimea crisis carefully

          Sheikh Shahariar Zaman

'We are closely monitoring the development in Ukraine,' says Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque

Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque yesterday said the government has been closely observing the crisis developing in Crimea of Ukraine.

“We are closely monitoring the development in Ukraine,” the Foreign Secretary told the Dhaka Tribune.

Russian President Vladimir Putin yesterday signed a treaty to absorb Crimea as part of the country amid Western sanctions and sporadic protests in and out the country.

Quoting a senior official of the ministry, sources said Bangladesh position would be aligned with that of Group of 77. “G-77 is yet to take any position in this regard,” he added.

When asked about a letter from Washington seeking Bangladesh’s support on Crimea, the official said generally all countries expresses their positions based on national interest and Bangladesh is not also out of the concept.

Few days ago, China, a member of the organisation, had abstained itself from a UN resolution on Crimea, in which Moscow cast its veto power.

          1. Afghanistan supports Russia.

          2. Bangladesh tells America to get lost as Americans were begging Bangladesh for support on the Crimea issue.

Bangladesh could care less what happens in Crimea and is indifferent ( I, as an individual Bangladeshi however totally support Russia against the American-backed aggression against here) but will follow what the real "international community" says i.e. the G77.

G-77 logo. The Group of 77 (G-77) represents the actual "international community" rather than the propaganda term "international community" used by the western media to legitimize the agenda of western countries i.e. they are refering to the west when they say "international community".

Russian troops poised to 'run' into Moldova, Nato commander warns

A pro-Russian enclave of Moldova could be Moscow's next target after Crimea, Nato warns...

Nato’s top commander said that Russian troops massed on Ukraine’s eastern border were well placed to take Transdniester, a Russian-speaking enclave that has declared independence from the rest of Moldova.

            1. There is no evidence that what the NATO general is claiming is true.

            2. If it is true however the Russian army would quickly take "NovoRussia" (the alternate name of south and eastern Ukraine) and then sweep on to the Transnistria region.

NATO could not do anything as it would take a minimum of weeks to send troops to Ukraine but:

a: Ukraine would need to request NATO/America to do so (problematic as there are questions about the Kiev regime's legitimacy and its unpopularity in the south and east of Ukraine).

b: America is militarily involved in Iraq and Afghanistan.

c: European armies are midgets in comparison to the Americans and could not send a force by themselves.

Russia can take southern Ukraine tomorrow if it wants to.

However from what I know Moscow does not want to annex southern Ukraine but merely wants a neutral Ukraine which respects its Russian minority, an annexation of southern Ukraine would only be done as a defensive measure to possible American provocation and aggression.

Transdniestria may become part of Russia

              20.03.2014

The Supreme Council of the unrecognized republic of Transdniestria appealed to the State Duma of Russia to provide for the possibility of entering the region in Russia in the Russian legislation. After the events in the Crimean Republic the country is under siege. Ukraine imposed restrictions on travel for Russians in Transnistria through its territory. The border was closed for cargo as well.

The information was confirmed by Deputy Prime Minister of the Transnistrian Moldovan Republic for International Cooperation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nina Shtanski. "Russian citizens are not allowed in Transnistria and are not let out. Transnistria is home to nearly 200,000 Russian citizens, and not all of them can travel and leave the country through Moldova. This means that people are locked on both sides," said Nina Shtanski.

"So far this problem affects only males with Russian passports, but it has affected not only those traveling by road, people are being removed from trains," she added. The Minister said that blocking goods intended for peacekeepers was unacceptable. "Ukraine is not only a guarantor country in the normalization of the relations, but also a member of peacekeeping operations in which it acts as a military observer," said Nina Shtanski.

Transnistria is under effective siege by Ukraine and Moldova and being strangled.

The Russian army may have no option but to sweep from the east and take southern Ukraine (which is pro-Russia) all the way up to Transnistria.

If the Kiev regime continues its siege of Transnistria it may end up losing half of the country and all of the coast and become a landlocked colony of the EU and IMF who are already looking for economic packages to make it an economic vassal.

PUTIN TO PUT RUSSIAN BASES IN LATIN AMERICA

Western Hemisphere left wide open by Obama's weakening policies

                Published: 1 day ago

WASHINGTON – As the world remains riveted on Moscow’s annexation of the Crimean Peninsula, Russian President Vladimir Putin is shifting gears to Latin America.

As first outlined by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu last February, Putin now plans to keep the United States off-balance as Moscow sets up actual military bases and massive arms sales in the Latin American region.

Moscow’s plan follows a recent announcement by Iran to have its warships patrol in waters off the U.S. coast.

Russia and Iran have stated their increased presence is also in response to U.S. military deployments near their countries, including the eastward expansion of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization up to Russia’s borders.

The establishment of permanent Russian bases and a major Russian presence in the Western Hemisphere will challenge U.S. policies and threatens to diminish Washington’s influence in the region. At the same time, it will give Moscow a basis to stage offensive weapons in the Western Hemisphere, placing another formidable challenge to U.S. homeland defenses from potential missile threats.

WND previously has pointed out that the U.S. lacks adequate missile defenses in the Gulf of Mexico from any missile attack from the south. In addition, WND has reported Russia has begun deploying missile-bearing nuclear submarines in the Southern Hemisphere, further accentuating that threat.

Experts such as former Strategic Defense Initiative Director Ambassador Henry Cooper have argued because of this threat, the U.S. needs to deploy existing Aegis missile defense systems in the southern portion of the U.S.

Aegis missiles launched either from U.S. Navy ships or from shore are capable of intercepting orbiting nuclear weapons, but the resulting high-altitude explosion could also cause an electromagnetic pulse event.

An EMP attack, in turn, could knock out the vulnerable U.S. electrical grid system and other critical infrastructures that U.S. society depends. A catastrophic attack lasting months and years, furthermore, has to potential to kill up to 90 percent of the U.S. population through starvation and lack of medical assistance.

Discover just how significant the EMP threat is in F. Michael Maloof’s “A Nation Forsaken” – autographed! – from the WND SuperStore.

While published reports say Putin is looking to establish military bases in Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela, all of whom are close allies of Moscow, WND’s informed sources say the Russian president’s focus will be on Nicaragua, which is relatively politically and economically stable.

Putin is reportedly concerned with Venezuela’s instability, since it is going through serious economic problems, with demonstrations eroding the support of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

At the same time, Putin’s strategy eyes Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua – not only for navy port visits, but also for refueling Russian bombers at their air bases.

This potentially significant increase in Russian military presence in Latin America would give Moscow the ability to undertake combat missions not only in Latin America but also around North America itself.

Latin American publications already are reporting that the Obama administration is doing little or nothing to counter Russian, Iranian or even Chinese expansion in the region.

The Obama administration had announced the end of the Monroe Doctrine, a 19th century declaration that stated any efforts by European nations to colonize land or interfere with states in North or South America would be viewed as acts of aggression, requiring U.S. intervention.

Last November in a speech before the Organization of American States in Washington, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry announced, “The era of the Monroe Doctrine is over. … The relationship that we seek and that we have worked hard to foster is not about a United States declaration about how and when it will intervene in the affairs of other American states.”

In referencing any threat from European powers, Kerry said, “We should consider any attempt on their part to extend their system to any portion of this hemisphere as dangerous to our peace and safety. With the existing colonies or dependencies of any European power we have not interfered and shall not interfere.”

Kerry’s declaration on behalf of the Obama administration, however, didn’t take into account U.S. adversaries setting up bases in the Western Hemisphere at the invitation of countries in the region.

Russian press reports justify Putin’s decision as power projection and improving its image abroad.

“Russia has started reviving its navy and strategic aviation since the mid-2000s, seeing them as a tool to project the Russian image abroad and to protect its national interests around the globe,” RIA Novosti said. “Now, Moscow needs to place such military assets in strategically important regions of the world to make them work effectively toward the goal of expanding Russia’s global influence.”

“Little doubt remains that Moscow believes that the region of Latin America can play a growing role in world affairs and has expanding mutual interests with Russia to check U.S. power,” asserts Russian expert Stephen Blank of the Washington-based Jamestown Foundation.

In terms of arms sales, Blank says Putin is looking to Brazil to buy fighter aircraft and surface-to-air missile systems.

“If successful, this would mark a step toward creating a group of industrialized countries that employ Russian designs and design bureaus for creating their own military hardware, thereby making the Russian defense sector more secure, pervasive and particularly significant in high tech areas,” Blank said.

The Russia-China-Iran axis are clearly concerned about the highly aggressive nature of the US and have decided "attack is the best form of defence" and are now going in to the western hemisphere.

The south American bloc by itself is quite powerful now and able to withstand US interference but with Russia, China and Iran joining in the US is even weaker.

                  2. I am not some extreme Russophile (far from it) or Putin-fan. It is just that the Sino-Russian alliance is the only thing stopping the Americans from complete global domination.

The American agenda includes a lot of horrific things.

The Americans have massacred, invaded, plundered, destroyed and raped across the globe and plan to do more.

                  3. Ossetian is the closest language to Pashto. Some Ossetians are Muslim, some are Christian. North Ossetia is within the Russian federation, South Ossetia was within the borders of Georgia but wanted to secede.

                  4. Tatars are more integrated with Russians (whom often they can not be physically distinguished from) than the Muslims of the Caucasus who are very different and have a mountainous, tribal mentality.

America plans to ignite a major war in the North Caucasus using Salafists/militants. Moscow knows that. However I do not think the Americans will be successful. Ukraine, as Syria before it, is a clear sign of their declining power.

It seems the Americans have already failed in igniting an "Islamist" uprising in Crimea using the Tatars there.

Anyway Tatars are a pragmatic race who to a degree look down on Caucasian Muslims as somewhat rougher and backwards. Tatars think there is no point in having a bloody conflict with Moscow for secession.

                  Here are some famous Tatars.

                  Rinat Akhmetov, a Ukranian Tatar.

Elvira Nabiullina, head of the Bank of Russia, with Putin.

The next Tatar is one who has a more Asiatic/Mongoloid appearance.

                  Ravil Gainutdin, a Russian Mufti.

The first two look totally European, the last looks Asiatic.

Anyway Crimean Tatars are quite different from Kazan Tatars. They are cousins but not the same people due to history, different identity, region etc.
Very true my friend. Russo-Sinic alliance is the only hurdle in the way of American madness to gain complete hegemony over the rest of the world. Its actions are leading the world to WWIII.

Toramana and others, don't get me wrong.

I have respect for the positive aspects of the west.

                    1. I am using a Vbulletin forum to express my disgust with the American government, Vbulletin itself is an American product.

America does allow people to criticize its government.

Could I criticize the Russian and Chinese governments in the same way if I was in Russia and China? I don't know but I wouldn't be surprised if I couldn't.

                    2. In addition to (relative) freedom of speech the west in which I live it has given me an education, a home, a livelihood, rights and dignity which I would not get in the so-called "Muslim" countries. For that I am grateful.

I find many western people far more civilized than many supposed "Muslims".

America - for its faults - does advocate human rights in many parts of the world e.g. for Rohingyas in Burma. America, Britain etc have strong anti-racism laws and policies at home.

                    3. Russia and China are far from perfect. Putin is no saint either. However in the cold hard world of geo-politics the oligarchy that rule America have gone on a frenzy invading and looting countries. The Sino-Russian alliance is the only thing stopping the US from complete world hegemony, a dangerous hegemony meaning the US becomes world dictator.

Apparently 22 American soldiers/ex-soldiers are committing suicide everyday.

So Americans themselves are victims of their regime (the ruling establishment stays the same irrespective of whichever frontman e.g. Bush, Obama, occupies the white house).

In other words I respect the freedom of speech in the west, the attempt to create a fairer more equal society.

At the end of the day the whole world wants to be in the west, which is prosperous and peaceful. People are trying to get green cards and visas. No one is dying to live in Moscow or Beijing or Dhaka.

My problem with America, is the Washington establishment and its very aggressive foreign policy.

For example, in the last 10 years, France and UK destroyed Libya which was the most advanced (in terms of stadards of living) country in Africa.

They gave weapons to Wahabis in Syria to destroy it.

USA, Denmark, UK and Poland destroyed Iraq.

USA, Denmark, UK and Poland destroyed Iraq.

How do you expect the Muslim world to flourish when it is in a state of constant war and when the leaders who defend the local's interests are murdered ?

VBulletin being an American product doesn't mean we have to lick their ass all the time.

Do Europeans mention the fact that the Wheel was a Babylonian invention everytime they use a car ?

Or that Modern Surgery was invented by Abulcasis a Muslim everytime they undergo an operation ?

                          Europeans are hypocritical liars.

And Mali was invaded by France to steal Uranium.

And Centrafrica was invaded by France for similar reasons.

And Cote d'Ivoire's leader was overthrown by France.

                          And Sweden invaded Mali.

Just in the last 5 years.

                          You are totally right.

The western powers practice neo-colonialism to maintain their dominance and economies.

France is the biggest imperialist out of all the western powers more than America.

France is more anti-Islamic, by far, than the Americans. France restricts Muslim's right to practice their religion in France whereas in America, Muslims more or less have rights to practice their religion.

The "Muslim" regimes e.g Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia are also evil in their ways.

The Chinese and Russians do not invade countries on other continents or practice economic terrorism.

We must be realistic and counter the American-led west with a far less aggressive Sino-Russian axis.

I dont care for either the sino-russians or nato both have killed us, the russians 30 years ago and nato today, but i dont mind if they kill each other and deflect the interest of the west away from us for several years giving us enough time to sort out our problems without too much trouble.

Asia: The elephant versus the shark
                              By Lawrence Wilkerson

To pivot, according to the venerable Oxford English Dictionary, means "to turn as on a pivot." Which takes us to the noun, which seems more appropriate for describing the Obama administration's Pacific policy: "That on which anything turns; a cardinal or central point."

The problem, however, is that finding a cardinal or a central point in the administration's Pacific policy is extremely difficult. What is clear is only a verb tense. The United States is turning from more than a decade of war-ineffective and costly-in western Asia to a more important and strategic region, eastern Asia, plus the waters that approach it. Perhaps the central point of the pivot is Asia, and the United States is switching from one end to the other. The "Pacific," however, suggests a broader turn, although new allies

and commitments in the Indian Ocean seem to balance if not outweigh those in the Pacific Ocean. India is the most potent example, a country located more or less at a central point.

If geographical and policy clarity is lacking, so is clarity around security, and in particular military security. Muddling matters more, US Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel on February 25 outlined a resource approach that implied that China is the number one challenge for the United States, therefore land forces will subsidize sea and air forces. Yet the budget shares for each service so far do not deviate greatly from historical norms. What Hagel really seemed to be saying to Congress was: "Sequestration is bad; I am telling you how bad; now back off, or I might do it." As to what all this would mean to "the Pivot" -noun or verb-remains a mystery other than the focus on China. That same focus on China appears to be the point of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Pact, a free trade pact designed to exclude Beijing. But it is stuck in congressional limbo, like everything else these days.

Meanwhile, in the region, Japan is being led by a Liberal Democratic Party Luddite, South Korea is holding Japan at arm's length, North Korea is acting its usual pugnacious self with its nukes, China's military is asserting its influence in Beijing, all of Southeast Asia is mystified by the "Pivot" with Thailand looking increasingly like Nigeria, Australia is puzzled, and New Zealand is hanging on. Not even an individual as profit-motivated as Richard Armitage can convince the players that they should just "trust the United States." The implication, as always with Armitage Associates, is that when the Republicans get back in the White House, all will change for the better. But of course it won't, and increasingly the Pacific countries know it.

So, where is US Pacific policy headed? If we are not careful the trajectory heads straight back to 1935. It won't be isolationism - a nebulous term in any event that is often used to cover lazy analysis - but a set-up for catastrophic events to come. A short exercise illustrates the point.

At the top of a letter-sized piece of paper, write "China" and "United States" and beneath those words the allies of each country. Next, put down all the other countries of the region, using India as the pivot point and including all countries to its east. Most countries will fall into this non-aligned group. Even several countries bound by security treaty to the United States, such as the Philippines, will want to be there. Also list Russia, Turkey, and Iran because they too are in Asia, are important to Asia's future, and are discounted only by fools.

If we are schooled in the military arts, we immediately see from this exercise the prospect of conflict on a massive scale. Countries will side with the great power most able to compel them to do so or risk being swallowed up. At the climax of this awesome conflict, the massive land power will confront the formidable sea power. It will be an epic contest between the elephant and the shark. The shark cannot come ashore, and the elephant cannot go to sea. Their attempt to grapple with one another will create a sheer hell for everyone within proximity.

Ultimately, as in every war game in which I have participated that played this scenario, each side will turn to nuclear weapons as the only potentially decisive device left in its arsenal. This resort to the nuclear option will occur after all the economic and cyber warfare, satellite-killer missions, area denial, air-sea battle, and other tools of power have been utterly exhausted.

Is there an alternative future? Yes. Come to the Asia Institute and FPIF's panel on Asia security on March 26, and I will describe at least one.

                                1. The western media seek to portray China and Russian behaviour of any sort as aggressive or evil. America can rape countries economically, China sets up a few factories or mines in Africa and it is "colonialism".

France can openly say it will invade any former French colony in West Africa if French "interests" dictate it to. China is morally wrong for opening factories in Africa.

China sends its ships a few miles off the Chinese coast and it is called "aggressive", American ships are half way around the world in the Chinese coast and that is fine.

                                2. America can do nothing militarily against Russia and China, as the latter can simply nuke them and wipe them out (though it would be mutual and could mean the destruction of the entire planet).

America, like a typical bully, only picks on weak targets but even then they have been defeated.

                                - Vietnam
                                -Cuba
                                - Lebanon (American marines fled)
                                - Somalia
                                - Iraq (Sunni Triangle)

China and Russia have decided to work together to contain the US e.g. China sent war ships off the Syrian coast, in contrast to its traditional policy of non-interventionism, to back Russia in stopping an American attack on Syria.

The main way in which China and Russia will weaken the US is to end the petro-dollar's reign as the world currency. This is already happening and Iran and India are part of it.

                                3. America is weakening and could do nothing against Russia in south Ossetia/Georgia 2008 or Syria 2013 or now Ukraine. In the Ukraine crisis they have simply slapped the hands of a few naughty Russian billionaires and politicians who will hardly be struggling to buy bread. Their sanctions have essentially been for show and they know they cannot stop Russia in the Ukraine.

                                4. America is planning to shrink its military to the lowest levels in around 70 years with $30 billion cuts this year and $45 billion next year.
This $75 million is over 10% of the entire military budget.

The American military is a massive giant, a huge organization which requires companies and employees from all 50 states of the US to sustain it. The military needs weapons, ammunition, buildings for its soldiers, uniforms for them, plates for them to eat from, knives, forks even toilet paper! The American economy benefits from supplying the needs of such a massive organization. This 10% decrease on the US military will impact the American economy negatively.

US soldiers eating burger king in Iraq.

A 10% military budget cut whilst the Russian bear flexes its muscles and the Chinese dragon reawakens does not inspire confidence in the US' allies across the globes. The Saudis are now looking more towards Pakistan for defence support.

                                5. Internally America is racially divided. Despite the political correctness it is a white-controlled country with the whites (though not openly saying this) viewing it as such. When non-whites move in to an area sometimes the entire white community moves out i.e. "white flight".
White Americans and Black Americans on the whole live in an informal state of apartheid, in segregation in the US.

White Americans are heading towards becoming a minority in the next few decades. They don't like this, for them "America" means white. Anglo-Saxons are the masters of formal verbal civility and euphemisms, instead of saying "we don't like blacks/browns we want a white state", they will say things like "the federal government in Washington is not good for us economically etc".
Secessionist tendencies in the US are already increasing rapidly.
With white Americans withdrawing from the America project (i.e. America still existing but with some states seceding) or cancelling it (i.e. break-up of the US) this impacts the rest of the world.

America has an internal demographic time bomb.

The American government in Washington is scared of domestic unrest and is spending massive amounts on bullets, weapons and internal security organizations to quell any future unrest.

The "pivot" to Asia is a joke. Japan is a small group of islands where people live squashed together, Korea is a small isolated peninsula. None of them are a threat to the Chinese who know in the long run the island Japanese (who are now suffering from radioation) have to turn towards China for support.

I could write much more on this topic but the last point I will say is that though the US cannot attack China/Russia directly it will use "Islamic" terrorists e.g. Chechen and Uighur militants to attack Russia and China. However this strategy is not working and will not work.
America like the British, Nazi, Napoleonic, Roman empires before it is heading for its inevitable demise.

If America does survive - and not break up with majority white states seceding from Washington (itself a heavily black city) - it will still be powerful e.g. as powerful as France and Germany but it won't dominate the world.
