They were found guilty, so that was their sentence. At least they did the same punishment to the male as well.

but, the Talib who shot her after the mullahs were debating about letting her live should very well be charged.

Stoning is in the hadiths, but it is not required to always do it. That is what is wrong with the Taliban, they accept the violent themes but ignore the ones that say forgiveness is also equal.

They were told they were to be forgiven if they returned, whomever made that promise broke it, and they shall to be penalized.

forgiveness of adultery and any other sin violating the right of Allah (swt) over you is something only Allah (swt) can forgive, not man.

will you provide evidence from the qur'an and sunnah of rasulallah (saw) which suggest that people found guilty of adultery are not to be stoned?

there is a testimony of guilt from either the suspected party and/or four witnesses required and the prescribed punishment ordained by Allah(swt) clearly in the Qur'an is to then be carried out.

Sahih International: The [unmarried] woman or [unmarried] man found guilty of sexual intercourse – lash each one of them with a hundred lashes, and do not be taken by pity for them in the religion of Allah, if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a group of the believers witness their punishment.

Notice it says lashes, not stoning. Stoning appears in the Hadiths. Stoning will happen only if the people(s) involved were married and had an affair.

God gave a sign to stop the stoning, even the mullahs were debating within each other. With right did that Talib have to execute her? He wasn't a Qazi, and has no say in the ruling.

yes, but this case was that of adultery not fornication. are you denying that Allah (swt) has prescribed stoning when the messenger of Allah(swt) routinely carried out the punishment for those found guilty?

          Rasulullah (saw) said,

"You must follow my sunnah and the sunnah of the Rightly-Guided Khaliphs. Cling to it fiercely and beware of new things. These new things are innovations, and every innovation is misguidance." Jâbir added, "Every misguidance is in the fire." (Muslim)

There are three types of knowledge - any other knowledge is superfluous - a precise âyat, an established sunnah or a just share (of inheritance)." (Abû Dâwûd and Ibn Mâjah)

"Whoever brings the sunnah to life has brought me to life. Whoever brings me to life will be with me in the Garden." (Al-Isbahânî)

furthermore, the qur'an and sunnah are regarded by the scholars of islam to be equivalent in legal weight.

on a side note, i want to mention that we should generally take everything we hear and see from western media sources especially, with caution and skepticism regarding its reliability seeing as how they are very well known to deceive people and fabricate false information in order to serve a desired agenda.

i do not believe it rational for the couple to have escaped all the way to pakistan from the northern tip of afghanistan and subsequently be spectacularly caught amidst millions of people and then happy-go-daisily lured back by taliban militants and mullahs to come back all the way to northern afghanistan. i perceive the taliban would have to be preoccupied with more significant things than chasing illicit couples across national borders in order to lure them back and punish them. neither do they do it for pleasure or out of sport but simply to execute the sacred law as prescribed in the scriptures. neither is it logically probable that the guilty parties bizarrely lacked a drop of suspicion with regards to the eeriness of how the talibs spontaneously chased and located them in a different country promising respite if they return back.

as far as the fighter that shot her is concerned, it is not a part of this current discussion, as you were intending to deny the obligation of stoning of adulterers in islam altogether. in my opinion, however, he did not commit any sin unless you can prove otherwise.

i suggest you rewatch the video then, it clearly says the man was married and it i doubt the women was single at 25 in afghanistan.

also, i see that you edited your original post in which you appeared to question the legitimacy of stoning altogether, regardless of whether pre-marital or co-marital relations took place and hence my response.

well i guess now we are more clear on the matter..

I think the Taliban in the Norrh should catch Bacha Bazi people. The ones who kidnap poor kids, and the people who watch it. This is a much more serious crime, then two fornicators.
                astaghfirullah brother,

first of all there is a video. you just have to click on the link and view it at the top of the article. it has the information regarding the male being married but nothing was mentioned of the woman. they try to mischievously maniuplate information regarding the important details in order to have muslims think the taliban are not practicing true islamic legislation or are flawed in their interpretation.

i highly doubt the 'alims that carried out the court proceeding and punishment didn't know the difference between fornication and adultery.

i am not saying every single taliban member is an angel; but i also will not criticize aspects of the movement's actions in areas which they should not be criticized in.

they shouldn't have given in to their disgusting desires if it wasn't worth dying for and if it was, then there is nothing either one of us should have to argue about. public prosecutions of such volume leaves negative impacts on the minds of common citizens...no one has the right to take another human beings life regardless of their crime..blah blah blah, we have talked about this already, no??

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

so by your logic babo, it is better to have, maybe 30-50 murderers in your society than 2 adulterers. i found this activity very disturbing, that so many men want to stand around and watch this murdering, let alone partake......very sad, to me

so are you saying that the prophet (Saw) used to order for the stoning of adulterers in vain and in reality, he had no right to do so?

since we are arguing from an islamic perspective, there is no doubt that this punishment is ordained through the qur'an and sunnah.. and it is actually to the benefit of the adulterer since they will be abrogated from the much more grievous punishment on the day of resurrection.

as for "negative impacts on common citizens", well islam is the religion of Allah(swt) our Creator and he knows what is best for us. there is nothing in the qur'an or sunnah which when followed cause direct negative impacts.

any evil that occurs is from what we bring forth with our own hands. these two people, as master khan said, should have known better than to commit zinah , a major crime in the sight of Allah. these people not only violated the rights of Allah (swt) upon them but also that of their spouses and the community at large as extra-marital relations result in the spread of veneral diseases, disintegration of the family unit, and immorality. thus the punishment prescribed is just and a sunnah of our prophet (saw). the publicity is to the benefit of the people, so as to deter them from committing the same and to deter them from ruining themselves.

faye i did not quite get your question. who are you referring to as murderers? if it is the people that executed the justified punishment, they are the keepers and maintainers of the law of the society, not criminals.

you may find it disturbing, but these people committed a serious crime in islam and their punishment is one which the prophet(saw) always ordered in case proven. do you consider a person getting jailed for rape also unjust?
the sole purpose of these laws is not merely for the guilty party's atonement of sin wrought on by punishment, but to protect the health and functioning of the society.

also, please do not turn this into a male vs. female thing because it isn't. it's what westerners are very prone to do due their naivety and ignorance.

the guilty man as well as the woman received the same punishment. this is a matter of dealing with crime, not of oppressing women.
