Lets first work on giving Women rights within the Muslim world than worry about Female Imaans etc.

I think a female would prefer to be a Doctor, Engineer, Solicitor than a Imaan and fall pray in the world of religionous intolarance and bigotry.

    Kind Regards

      A female imam, gosh...

Dukemina posted an excellent article addressing the whole situation, which I have dug up for you. Make sure to read it fully, it'll answer your questions.

I assume you're talking about Amina Wadud, the feminist, who led Jumah prayer in the US.

What benefit does being a Alima or a Imaan bring to Society and Humanity?

If a Female becomes a Doctor atleast she is helping Humanity regardless of being shia, jew, christian, buddist etc.

When I saw those radical Lal Masjid Females I thought to myself do these people actually think the sane and civilised world actually gives a damme about their protests of bringing Pakistan back to stone age?

          Kind Regards

Interesting ... you know she doesn't refer to herself as a feminist, right? In fact, you should read up on her response to folks who call her a feminist. And that again brings me to ask ... what's your definition of feminist or feminism?

Admin Khan and I were having a very interesting discussion on this yesterday.

While I agree that Pukhtuns women have many basic rights to fight for at this moment in time and hence being female imams is not at all one of our concerns, I have to disagree with your last statement. All humans are different and, just like not all males want to be doctors, engineers, lawyers, etc., all females don't either. Some women actually WANT to be theologians to make up for the loss of Muslim female theologians since the beginning of Islam. Plus, (most) female imams are far less likely to fall prey to religious intolerance (check out the works of female imams in Egypt, for example!). They're probably anything BUT intolerant. It's the male imaams we're worried about (consider those of Saudi Arabia, for example!).

                Oh, and another thing.

I think it's also intolerant when we show intolerance towards women who prefer to go into a field other than what you've mentioned, Maseed Gula. Intolerance isn't just intolerance when it comes to religious matters; it's far wider than that.

Plus, one of the last things we need is for others to tell us what to become and what not to become. Let the women decide what they want to become, just like we let men decide what they wanna become, too.

Well I accept your view to some extent. But Intolarance is widely practice within Relgion. Islam is very much male dominant and there going to be no such thing as a female imaan without a bloody battle for it. So what is the point is shedding blood to prove a Point that Females can be Imaams.

Please understand my point, All I am just saying is that Females should not waste much of their time trying to prove their equal in a faith that majority preach as females not being equal, there is nothing to prove to such people. its a endless game and story, Islam was produced at time where females were a currency and even if your adjust it to the modern way of thinking, it wil be rejected by majority of muslims as being a conspiracy theory of the kuffur to change Islam etc.

In the case of women choosing other fields, However I am not a femnist to debate it, but I would love My Pashtun sisters to go into a field that brings the betterment of the Pashtun Nation. Being Lap dancers, bar girls etc wil not bring the betteremnt of the Pashtun people.

                      Kind Regards Khorey

I answered this question in a LONG post in the thread "YOUR Standard?" It's post # 6.

My ultimate answer is yes, I agree with it; my explanation is presented in the above-linked post. My response there is mostly a rebuttal of the unconvincing and typical article posted there, but other reasons of mine include how there's nothing NATURALLY IN men that says that they will and can stare at women who're bending in front of them; they're socialized and programmed to believe that they can and would do this, given a chance. And what if I find a man in front of me in prayers attractive as well?
But nooo, say this out loud to those who are against women leading prayers, and they say, "Be sharam! You're not supposed to think such things in prayers!" Ummm... okay, well, say that to the men who are behind women in prayers and won't think anything BUT such "be sharam" thoughts.

Anyway, you should read my post there in its entirety.

Also, there's nothing IN Islam that says that women can't lead prayers; it's only scholars' understanding -- and not just any scholars but men scholars of a certain time period and a certain society. And, let's not forget, all humans are products of their society. In fact, any Muslim scholar of Islam, no matter how knowledgeable and how pious, will NOT be accepted as a scholar by most Muslims IF she/he doesn't go with the norm. Kana?

did the prophet muhammad saww ever allow a woman to lead a prayer? Did he ever say that women should be able to allow the prayer of mixed congregation?

Did any of the companions (many were female scholars of islam) ever lead the prayer of mixed congregation?

Why is it that westernized brainwashed feminists like Amina Wudood & you have this odd opinion which is not supported by evidence?

Just because you accuse men of being be sharam, it it not sufficient.

We could argue that you are be sharam because you want to bend over in front of men staring at you.

I never seen a female imam in my life, I believe Female imams can only lead females..I don't think men should be behind a female when praying.

this besharam argument really doesn't work people. if your gona say something, support it with deviance from the quran and the sunnah, islam is not based on your whims and desires
