Rethinking Islamic Reform: Hamza Yusuf & Tariq Ramadan - YouTube

This entire debate is very educational and important to watch but in lieu of recent discussions I'd like to bring to attention the parts of the talk given by Sheikh Hamza Yusuf from

30:30-44:00 is probably the most insightful; It's long so I don't want to advocate watching the whole 3 hour video, but definitely this.

Azmal
Shapur
Firdousi
Toramana
Porus
Samandri
BarakzaiAbdali
khushal
Golden
Sarbani

And even Khostai .....as long as you can have a mature discussion and not devolve into Ghetto language.

Damir9000 same goes for you, mature discussion

Bengal_Tiger too as long as you don't use this spin doctor some propaganda for Putin.

No Bickering or name calling please.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

Hamza Yusuf & Tariq Ramadan are both filthy kafirs who are promoting a Western version of Islam inspired by secular liberalism. Their followers are like people who identify with Western values and Western norms.

Shamlawar, what qualifications do you have to takfir anyone?

Furthermore did you even watch the discussion? They actually appeal to the Islamic Jurisprudence tradition, if you have a legitimate counter to their claims, or if they are in error then please demonstrate where they have errored in their exposition within the video.

Good for you, now if you can actually discuss the content of the video, it'd be more conducive.

I learned that too.
They propagate their own version/interpretation/mix of Islam which I actually enjoyed better than regular strict version.

They Islamic World would be probably be better off with his version imo.

This is untrue , they don't have a version of Islam , they both come from already existing normative tradition in Islam. Watch the video in full they go into full detail about it. Not a single reference to Western ideologues

Is there any scholar that isn't a dirty kafir pedo etc ?? Which modern imaams do you look up to or regard as a Muslim (serious question) .. Do you regard al-baghdadi as one of your own people?

Shamlawar, you rarely ever contribute anything except takfir and accusations against people. Unless you're a qualified 'Alim and can show a degree from an accredited Islamic Jurisprudential school that is ratified from Shayukh from All 4 Sunni Madhha'ib. and then show daleel for your claims

Then I highly recommend you desist from doing that, or in the very least state that they're simply your opinions.

Growing a beard, calling people kafir does not make you a Sheikh.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

The main problem with his Takfir is that, Kufr has a very specific technical meaning in Islam. Kufr refers to those who outrightly reject Belief in Allah(swt), the Prophets and Revelations. differing on how those can be applied does not in and of itself constitute "kufr" unless it's directly negating what was revealed.

So a Muslim that endorses secularism "might" be wrong for doing so, BUT they're NOT automatically a Kafir. If Kufr meant that the way Islam is applied, automatically makes one a kafir, then he's basically implying the Imams of the 4 Sunni Madhha'ib are now kafirs, since they clearly had differences on what they concluded with respects to Islamic legal application in many regards.

And the Qualified Shayukh always ....and I mean ALWAYS end their surmrise with "And Allah Knows best" implying that they could always be making human error, even though their work undergoes intense rigor and as accurate of information they had available to them. You'll notice Shamlawar NEVER does this, and yet he's not even a Qualified Scholar.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

So then what is the correct Islam? To go around murdering innocents, promoting the degradation and beating of women etc?

He makes outrageous claims and runs away when questioned in the most simplest ways, he did it with the rumi thing and now in this topic. This could either be arrogance or ignorance. Arrogance: "I'm to good to answer people" .. Ignorance: "I don't really know why I said that, I have no solid reference" .. Either way one should not even bring the subject up or even speak if they we not willing to bring the conversations THEY START to a conclusion of some sort.

Thats one of the most ridiculous explanation of Takfir I have ever seen.
