My study concludes that because religions actually organize charities and services that people attend gives them more opportunities to give. If a person attends church service or goes to a mosque or any other religious service, they have opportunity to give where a person such as yourself, an atheist, has very little opportunity to give. Ask yourself when was the last time you actually gave since people like you do not attend functions that gives you opportunity to give.
The question is not why they give, but do they ACTUALLY give.
As I said. Giving money isn’t a good metric to calculate how good a person is. Not everyone has the same means.

By better Organization & More Opportunities thanks to religious institution...

You mean that these religious folk are constantly harassed to give away money. The preacher/mullah always gives a sermon about how you will be compensated a hundred folds in the afterlife or tries to guilt you about how terrible person you are. They always trying to take your money by passing the money plate around & indicating where you deposit your donations. The pastor/mullah always preach about how the church/mosque needs your money more than you do.

    EXAMPLES:
My ex-Christian friend, When he was at Church, every time he passes the money plate without giving money. He gets stares from the people near him. He put 5$, he got talked down to by the lady nest to him about how little the amount was.

When I used to go with my father to the local mosque. He probably only given away a total of 20$. Although, my father was religious, when I asked why he gave so little, he told me it didn’t want to get ripped off. He realized that a good part that money would go to mullah’s pocket.

I guess prayers don’t work anymore. Allah needs money like Jesus does.

In sum, 65% of religious people vs 56% non-religious people figure isn't very compelling.

    9% isn't very significant difference.

This difference can be explained by the fact that
Religious Institutions regularly harass & extort their congregations for money.

So yeah, you are right! They ACTUALLY GIVE
Religious people give away more often & religious charities collect more money alright.

A burglary is even a better way for people to give away their money.

Also, these charities & organization created Religious Institutions are more aimed at spreading their Faith than actually helping people.

    Also,
Bill Gates self-made billionaire has given away billions and will probably give away all of his wealth (about 70Billion$). They don’t belong to any religious organization.

I thought you atheist were good at reason and logic or is that just a myth.
Have you even read the article yourself?:

“It is not clear to us how much this is about religion per se,
or whether it may be about the sense of belonging and not being socially isolated.”

“The researchers noted that it is unclear whether the benefits of participating in a religious organization are connected
to being in the religious community, or to the faith itself.”

My comment remains the same. Funny how practicing a non-Islamic religion is beneficial
for mental well-being. Ignorance is bliss.

Good reason and logic isn’t exclusive to Atheist. The only difference between Atheists & Religious people is
that Atheists aren’t punished for using reason and logic.

Religious people like yourself often skew you reason & view of reality to fit what is written in your ancient book.

            No. Have you?

            What does primiting mean?

            I just read the article.
I never contested that they didn't give more money.
The 9% difference between religious nothing significant.

As I said, Religions force you to give your money to them.

The article is very dubious as some of the commentators say:

"The statistical significance if this study or the way it is portrayed here is significantly wanting.
The numbers are absolutely meaningless without more characterizations of the people and the charities.

Eg: the quote above includes religious and non-religious charities for the 60% so that could be 59% to religious charities
and 1% for nonR charities. (Personally, I think it is a greater measure of compassion and charity
to give outside one's tribal identification than inside.)

And the income of the donors is not mentioned, wealthier donors, regardless of religiosity are likely to donate more than poor.

And, there is formal donation to charities and informal donation to people in need, completely omitted here.

            Useless article."

"The link given for this "research" goes to a site that doesn't actual give the
research information (you have to register to see the report and then you can see
the information, presumably). The site it's on, is Connected to Give. Looking at the site,
it seems to have a primary motivation in it's studies; that Americans of faith give to charities.
I think we should all be skeptical of studies like this. The data isn't transparent and the site they link to seems biased."

I meant promoting. You are backtracking again.

I am glad you realized that you shot yourself in the foot again with the 9 % thingy.

If you know how the study you are promoting here was conducted, and if you had any sense of dignity, you would feel ashamed for dismissing the 9% difference.

But since you are bereft from any sort of morality and you are ignorant, it doesn't make much difference. However, for those who know how to read scientific studies, it's quite amusing to read your posts.

                        1)The article seems dubious .

2)The study isn't even available to look at:
the link doesn't provide it: http://connectedtogive.org/

                        3) A s a result you didnt read the study. & you personally can't read a scientific study.

                        4) 9% isn't significant as I explained

                        5) I do have morals. You're the one who doesn't haven't any. What you have is rules not morals.

"Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion."

Your going off a tangent here. The thread is about who gives more and I have proven who does. Your reasons for why they give more without evidence are just excuses without evidence. If fraud happens in a charity, it is not the fault of the contributors because the contributors intention was to help and share their own resources with others.

Mentioning Bill Gates basically tells us that your desperately reaching.
FYI, he is not giving away his billions, what he is doing is creating a foundation named after himself so his name can live after his death similar to how the Rockefeller's did. These guys are different than how charities work since these guys made their Billions through ruthless monopolizing tactics.

What you say doesn't matter. If the religion creates and atmosphere of community and that makes people happy, then it accomplishes its goal of making people happy.

The argument is not about Islam and non Islamic religions, it is about religion itself. You have to keep up with the argument at hand and not create strawman fallacies because it reveals your stupidity.

In the Soviet union, where atheism was the state religion, people were punished for speaking against communism. People being punished for crimes has nothing to do with atheism or theism, it has more to do with the laws of the society. Everything you have said tells us how uneducated you are.

If religious people do live happier lives more than non-religious people but it isn’t because their religion.

Please don’t bring up the Soviet Union. The problem you mention is an Authoritarian problem.
Btw, Islam also seeks to create an Authoritarian style State.

Alright, I have no evidence. It's all just my opinion for now.

Okay, now you're just judging Bill Gates without knowing him & without any evidence. All Charities are named in similar fashion, named after their main contributor. Libraries and new building are named after their contributors.

Religions do the same. They name it in a way to promote their ideology positively. So, it is self-serving.
This also their main objective to proselytize their religion.

When Bill Gates gives all his money to charity, he doesn't promote Microsoft to poor African children.

No, The Thread isn't about who gives more.

                                The thread is called :
Children brought up with no God are MORE generous and tolerant, study finds
Can you share information that counters this?
Your two articles aren't even relevant to the topic.

All you brought up is that Religious People give more overall to charities by 9% more vs non-religious people.

Nothing you mention is about children.
