The nature of all human social structures is to regulate itself and thwart things that conflict with regulating itself. You may consider that cultish but it's actually a very basic human response. As I was saying before In the Anthropology of Religion, Religion is a management system, the role of a management system is to direct human relationships with each other and their surroundings. It has nothing to do with education or a lack there of; it's just simply self preservation and in this case preservation of the very constructs that support them, i.e. Islam.

Even the most liberal, permissive society will take to persecuting individuals if they could potentially disrupt the status quo. Look at how many Assassinations America has performed in its history, America is the figurehead of Modern Liberalism.

Don't be so quick to downplay The Saudi Issue. It would matter tremendously if your argument is that Islam was used as an instrument of socio-economic exploitation for specifically Arab welfare. If it was as you claim then for majority of the 1400 + years since Islam galvanized from that region the Arabs of that region did not acquire direct economic benefits from it.. The indirect ones would have been too sophisticated for them to make use of since they did not fully understand supply-chain economics. Yet Medina and Makkah still operated, under various, often Non-Arab owners.

It maybe true that the owners of Medina and Makkah profited, but These cities had different owners over the course of history the Abbasids, The Turks and so on. There was no hegemonic cultural sphere that held ownership of the region other than Islam itself So the claim is just historically false.

So for you to say we're colonized is clearly a DEFENSE MECHANISM response, Where as what makes you colonized is that your values and viewpoints coincide with the Current Globalist Hegemonic Onslaught and is present as a consequence of it, not in spite of it. It is an Apparatus for Aggressions to subjugate the Middle East and Asia by its hegemony. And thus something like "Atheism" while itself may not be a problem the Modern Atheist Movement is part and parcel in these subversive attacks against the fabric of these societies.

Just look at the writings of both Samuel Harris and Christopher Hitchens, littered with apologetics for such aggressions.

Religion can be a good management system but only at personal, moral or spiritual level not at all at political or cultural or economic or social or scientific or philosophical levels. Religion has nothing to do with all these aspects. And when you mix religion with all these , then you see what did Church in the past and what Islamism is doing today.

Well if something is good at personal level then by default it becomes good at social and political level and even philosophical level since personal is the fundamental unit that creates the social, political and philosophical. Now in respects to scientific, Science is am instrument of knowledge,it does not require regulations or management since it will ultimately utilized by humans or will not be.

So religion is still a viable management system as long as basic human needs and desires are relevant.

Saudi Arabia existence is irrelevant. The owners' of mecca & medina make huge amounts of money. Mecca makes 10Billion$ alone on Hajj.

i would say indirect i have met them
they never spoke about religion and were very educated, by educated i dont mean university degree
at the job of my friend i have seen an afghan how he was secretly and really fast eating pork
at my job i have 2 arabs who are atheist or just non believer, they dont care about it
