Is fasting obligatory in Ramadan?

Since admitting your eagerness to kiss anyone's behind for the sake of manipulating those you are in opposition with is too embarrassing for you, rather than acting like a sneaky vulture, you should focus on doing what you mean and meaning what you do.
This is a typical behaviour and old habit of that Yemeni filth. I bet you learnt it from hanging around him too much.

because more important than feeding the poor is knowing what poverty feels like. And if you are used to stuffing your face with whatever you find all your life, there is no way you would know what that means.Originally posted by Badlun View PostThe real issue here to discuss is that if Quran gives you the option to either keep fast or feed poor, then why fasting is obligatory and why Muslims observe fasting without exception?
The purpose of fasting for Muslims is mainly practicing self control and discipline, not understanding what poverty feels like.. However, at the end, that too is s positive outcome of it. Driving. Driving. I going to have to cut this short.

Do you think in Ramadan really the Muslims feel what poverty is? Do they eat less in Ramadan as compared to other days? I have seen especially Arabs that they sleep the whole day and eat the whole night and do not sleep at night. Just fulfilling the ritual.Originally posted by DaZahroJaam. No one is learning the lesson. If it was so, Muslims observing fast for the last 1400 years, would have learnt a lot and there would have been no poor in the Muslim world.
No body keep fast in the West but there is almost no poverty and the observers of the fast throng to live in the developed world.

Almost no poverty. Are you blind. I live in the financial capital of the world and it is filled with poverty: homelessness, poor, bums. There is literally thousands of people sleeping in the street in the city.Originally posted by Badlun View PostDo you think in Ramadan really the Muslims feel what poverty is? I'll tell you the real NY not seen because of the biases. Just last week i was just hanging out, waiting for a train in the middle of Manhattan and a bum (male. smelled like crap)approaches me puts chap stick on his lips and offered a blowjob for $5.00. I was split second from stomping him but that is what they want. Prison gives free food, a place to sleep and a toilet.
That's real man
That is poverty buddy. open your eyes.

Nice fallacy. In a scale of 1-10 in rudimentary logical capabilities, you're a strawmanOriginally posted by Badlun View PostThen leave NY and go to Somalia or Sudan.

"few such miserables"

the thing is, if you are asking this question as a muslim, i would like to remind you that when you claim to be a muslim, you agree to those five terms that are known as "five pillars of islam" and i believe fasting is the fourth one. when you say " i am a muslim and i believe in islam", you can't turn around and negotiate any of those terms...
but if you are asking this question as someone who has not agreed to those terms but understands and believes in the importance of self discipline then i would like to remind you are not going to lead yourself to a portal of a higher level of spiritual consciousness by denying yourself a chocolate bar. obviously that level of awareness is achieved by placing alot more effort in to one's actions than one would apply otherwise.
the purpose of any method of discipline ( whether it is in the field of athletic achievements or a religious spectrum) is not reaching a conclusion by the means of negotiation or depending on one's comfort level. that is not what challenges are about. challenges are about exceeding comfort levels, not reaching them.
i have often stopped myself from suggestion you study nihilism. your desperate need for fitting your mismatched ideologies in to religion often disappoint me. you try to separate yourself from the path of a typical and lazy man's religion but at the same time are terrified of the idea of walking alone and in your own path.
