Fayhan Al Ghamdi was held for few months in jail waiting for his trail. Al Ghamdi then was released from prison few days ago. The court ordered him to pay ( Diyah) which is blood money paid for the family of the victim. Ironically, according to the law the Murderer will share the money he is paying since he is the father; he is part of the family.

According to the discriminatory sharia law the Diyah ( the blood money ) must be 400.000 SR if the victim is a male and half of the money which equals 200.000 SR if the victim is a female.

Sir, I do not think there is any ayah in the Qur'an or a Hadith mentioning that the blood-money for a woman is half that for a man.

The reason why that may however be applied by some jurists is because in Islamic cultures, men are responsible for providing financially for their families and the loss may be greater for a family.

"Blood Money" is a false label. What most people dont realize that the so called "blood money" is actually monetary compensation the victim or victims family sues the accused for.
In America, we have a criminal court and a civil court. In the criminal proceedings it is the State that brings charges against the one accused and in the civil manner, the victim or the victim family brings suit against the accused.

For example, OJ simpson was charged with murder in the criminal proceedings which found him innocent and later on the civil suit brought by the victims(Goldman family and Nicole Simpson's family) found him liable. The money awarded to them was never called "blood money." It is the monetary compensation that the court found OJ Simpson liable for.
