Sufi of Kandahar, Afghanistan
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.
A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai
For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."
The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

Don't speak of something you have no knowledge of. Sometimes silence is better than saying anything.Originally posted by KhyberKhan View Posttobah, this disease has reared its ugly head once again - what's more worrying is that its taking place in one of the best places of Afghanistan.
I've also read reports of grave worshipping which is the next level up of sufism.
For more clarification, read about sufis from the beloved scholars of wahabi/salafi Ibn Taymiah. It will clear some misconceptions.

Its not about sufism, and there are important topics than talking about this.
But let me say something, these things that they do has nothing to do with sufism, rather self innovations that are far away from the sufism of Jalaludin Rumi, and they never taught anyone to pray to anyone beside Allah, and they never seeked help from graves, but rather prayed for them.
Yes they ordered to do zikr, which is encouraging good deeds and protect your from evil,on that we all agree as muslim.
But certain acts done,by certain people associating it with pure islam and branch for the old sufis is contrary to the reality and truth.
We are not against sufism, but against associating partners with Allah and commiting acts that were not done by the Sahab-e Ikram and the Tabeen nor by our Master RasulAllah (salAllahu alyehi wasalam).High achievement always takes place in the framework of high expectation.

seriously who cares, let them find their spiritual light the way they want to. Even if it is an "innovation" it does not alter or change the religious laws one bit. There is no religious law on this matter what so ever.
I swear Afghanistan's sense of religion has been ruined by Pakistanis and Saudis.
The only time I see a problem is when it becomes destructive and harmful; I would rather have people say Hu Allah hu Allah ...than someone blowing themselves up outside of a civilian area of Kabul.
He is no different than us,he blindly believes in the words of other men,:
The attack targeting the shia in Kabul, was not carried out by the Islamic emirate, but other elements.
Islamic emirate of Afghanistan stands for every activity they carry out inside Afghanistan or even operations against Iranian border guards, cross border raids targeting the army of tajikistan.
It is wrong to kill anyone, except for three reasons clearly mentioned in the authentic ahadiths, murder for murder, adultery, apostacy.
We should pray that Allah guide us all on the staright path,it is clear that there are many many many deviant groups,as promised already by our master RasulAllah (saw),that there will be 73 groups only 1 will enter paradise inshaAllah.High achievement always takes place in the framework of high expectation.

who are "all the muslims"?
there is a difference between supporting resistance and supporting the actual movement. i take it you supported the jihad in the 80s but did that also mean you supported massoud personally?
the taliban are associated with people who blow up masjids, funerals, markets, and shias in pakistan, there is no tip toeing around that fact. so attributing some islamic moral high ground to the taliban is laughable. not only have they not taken any action against their allies, they haven't even publicly condemned it.
when their supporters are living in a dream world where they think every muslim supports the taliban, that makes you and others like you seem completely delusional. and in case you didn't know, pretty much every armed group that pretends to use islam as its ideology in afghanistan has disobeyed allah and his messenger and the "outcry" is the carnage of the last 30 years.Last edited by randolph85; 05-06-2012, 03:34 PM.There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

but most of the world's Muslims are against the Taliban and consider them deviated.
He is no different than us,he blindly believes in the words of other men,:
most afghans don't support the taliban movement, what makes anyone think the rest of the muslim world does?
and the ones that DO support them are the ones that would never want to live under their rule. There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power.
