Before pashtuns were muslims they had pashtunwali, pashtuns fought against muslims and those pashtuns who were muslims were regarded as beghairat and traitors at that time because most pashtuns were still non muslim. Now the same thing, now that majority pashtuns are muslims they consider anyone who is non muslim as beghairat and traitor and not a proper pashtun. This shows that the only constant has been pashtunwali, religion and peoples views about what is ghairat changes all the time.

So were our ancestors who fought muslims before they became muslims not pashtuns?

Pashtuns have accepted many religions as truths before they finally became muslims, its nothing new.
Pashtunwali didn't come from Budhism, Pashtunwali is a code developed by pashtuns to settle disputes and its necessary in a tribal society. Before Islam there was no Qadhi and judge to decide matters so peole had to had some kind of code to live by. Without pashtunwali there would have been anarchy.

Islam is the ultimate truth and the way to paradise,if you are a muslim you must know this and comparing that pashtuns getting out of jahalath to the enlightment(Islam)to these jahils going into ahteism is worng.

I do accept Islam as the superior to all other religions mainly because its a complete and comprehensive way of life to be lived and I believe its well suited to pasthun society. If Islam is properly followed, it can lead to success no doubt about that.

Look man, pashtuns didn't become muslims over night, it took 300-400 years for them to become majority muslims. Read a few accounts of pashtun lands so you can see that some isolated tribes were still pagans until very recently. Look at the poeple of Nuristan who only hundred years ago became muslims.
