Who is a Muslim?

It seems that because we disagree with someone's view on what Islam is we have given ourselves the right, and are quick, to declare them out of the fold of Islam and strip them the right to call themselves Muslim.

I disagree with many on this website, many, MANY (some, even to the point that I feel they are simply using Islam for academic glory to please the enemies of Islam). However, despite everything we disagree on, I would never ever reserve the right to call them a kafir, NEVER. If someone calls themselves a Muslim, even if her name is Irshad Manji, I do not have the right to say that they are not. We can say things like: what need do we have for an enemy when we have a friend like you. But, to call them a kafir is totally wrong.

Now, those who have replaced Allah, the Quran and our beloved Prophet (saw) and have declared themselves the custodian and the authority on permitting who can and who can't call themselves a Muslim should step to the plate and present their evidence. Otherwise, forever hold your peace and don't cause unnecessary tension.

Use this platform to unite with fellow Muslims--do not use this platform to cause disunity.

Remember, the Prophet (saw) has said that when you call someone who has declared themselves a Muslim a kafir, then in essence it is you who is the kafir.

So, be careful. As per this fatwa of the Prophet (saw) himself, you risk declaring yourself a kafir.

The Prophet (saw) knew who the munafiqeen were, but he kept quiet. The reason why some were declared outright munafiqeen has its reasons, however, it is not for us to decide. The time for Allah to reveal to our Prophet (saw) about the inner state of people has passed.

Don't forget, dear brother, Allah has stated in the Quran that He has purposely created enemies of truth. So, just worry about your own state. Learn from the Quran, and question for clarification. However, don't judge someone, they might be regarded high in the sight of our Creator.

In their own gatherings, they call the us, the core muslims, mislead. They chid us for accepting the finalty of the prophet, pbuh, but then they have the audacity to call us out of the fold for not accepting mirza as some incarnation of the prophet (pbuh).

A Christian is a kafir because they do not accept ALL of the Heavenly Books and Prophets. This law is presented in the Quran. However, they are still believers, as per the Quran.

If Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) is a true Prophet and you purposely reject him, then the Quran stands against you. If you reject him because you are not convinced then how could you be a kafir?

However, declaring someone a kafir who has declared themselves a Muslim and they are following the conditions that the Prophet (saw) has set for who is and who is not a Muslim, then you do not have the right to declare them a kafir. Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) was using the fatwa of the Prophet (saw) on those who called him a kafir.

i am not a muslim but the way i see it is, we are given a brain and with that we can make choices. we can choose to concentrate on the positive or on the negative. if one chooses the negative then i think it makes practicing ones religion difficult. we know the negative is there but the positives are the most beautiful and rewarding and we can choose to work towards eliminating what is not right in the world, but not by adding to the wrong with more negativity. we have a divine planet earth to enjoy and need to protect and human beings and creatures of the earth to learn to love and enjoy and i believe that is the earthly aim of spirituality/religion. it goes beyond that but that is where to begin.
whilst you concentrate on the negative this is what you are feeding into yourself.
the feeling in the body and the soul and mind is a much better one when you choose to celebrate and absorb the positive.

This thread is not about Ahmadis and non-Ahmadis. It is about the fact that we Muslims are so quick to send people out of the fold of the Islam, yet we pride ourselves that we are inviting people towards Islam. Contradiction much?

The word kfr literally means "to-cover". To deny.
A christain who has never heard of the message or the qur'an isn't necessarly a kafir.
Remember that there were christians, originally, who did not believe that Isa ibn maryam, (the real messiah), is the son of Allah ta'ala, auzubillah, so technically they could also be considered muslims if they follow the teachings of Isa as was revealed to him.
