Alhamdullilah, I am pleased to say that there were more than 1,500 who attended the event and it was just an amazing day for all of us. We had a great time with the Sheikhs and any excuse to meet up with your dedicated Muslims
lol, you'd have to be there to experience the true beauty of it. Sorry, its really unexplainable. I think I've used countless words to try and attempt to explain AlMaghrib to people but it doesn't really do the job well.
Well, I would like to talk about my sheikh, Sheikh Yasir Qadhi. He impressed everyone (as usual) with his inspiring talk on the history of Muslims, expecially times when the Kabah was overtaken by certain groups of people, and how we should learn from these events. His second topic included that of sin, and how sins effect us as a whole Ummah. We shouldn't consider ourselves "insignificant" or that just because someone is in a higher power, THEY are not allowed to commit sin but because we are just part of the people, it is more "okey" for us to commit them. No, no one should be commiting sins. We are well aware that everyone commits sins but he mentioned the fact that we should not profess these sins outwardly, but rather we should keep them hidden as a part of modesty.
(I could go on for hours and hours, but seriously lol, I have to stop myself lol)
Sheikh Yaser Birjas (another favorite!) was also there, a sheikh from Palestine, and the vice president of AlMaghrib Institute, Sheikh Waleed Basyouni. Both did equally amazing lectures on different topics. We also had a more personal session mixed with some *halal* entertainment with the Sheikhs, asking them questions about their lives and families.
Brother Wisam Sharief surprised the audience with his presence and truly heartbreaking recitation! (Recommendation: YOUTUBE brother Wisam Sharief!!!)
There was some other cool stuff that happened, but those were only for people who actually went
^what does it mean to be a sheikh? Isnt it only for arabians?
