Taliban violence predate foreigner...uprooting people in north, burning vineyards and using rape as weapon is well documented by amnesty international.
First foreign intervention started way before the world had heard of Taliban.
Second where is this document that you speak of.

But he is right. More than 10% of Kabul population converted is far fetched and that would be a huge recruiting tool for the Taliban. Azmel grabs shyt from his arse way too much.

I agree, that's why I think Azmal is just making hyperbole on the grounds he's seeing conversions happen in greater frequency.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

In Afghansitan, Criminals run the show. You have guys that fly the white flag kidnapping people for ransom. Some join them because they have a badi and they need support or protection from their rival who is with the ANA. People join the ANA to get some sort of leverage over their rival which forces their rival to join the guys that fly the white flag. All these things happen because the Afghan gov is a fraud, its fake and the Afghan gov is run by criminals. They neither can control the guys that fly the white flag and neither the guys that use ANA leverage to crush their rival. On top of that there are private militias that are funded by the CIA and other funded by the ISI. A bunch of gangs roaming around freely because the Afghan gov is fake and is more like a mafia than a real gov. These gangs are a symptom of a fake Afghan gov created by a foreign power intervention. I don't blame these gangs. If you lived there, you might be in one of them out of necessity.

If the US cant do its job of providing security for the people and control these gangs, then they should leave. This is international law and a natural law, that if you cant do your job, you resign or you should be fired. Its not about apologists, its about logic. I have been a member here since 2010, 8 years and I have been saying from the beginning that the Afghan gov wont succeed because looking at the evidence, that is the logical conclusion.

You on the other hand easily get fooled. I remember a militia was sprung up by the CIA who fought the Taliban and was saying they will fight the gov as well and you thought these were the true righteous people. hahahahaha. The afghans have two choices senior, its the mullah or its the Azmel types and you know the Azmel types cant fight. They can only deceive.

Yes we had this discussion already, and similarly, you're using the PR talking points that apologists have typically used.

This narrative of a "rag tag militia of of various unaffiliated groups" as if to make it appear as if they're "self motivated and home grown warriors of liberty" is just a branding tactic and Falls apart by the Taliban's own self perception and identity. the Organizational struture of the Taliban and even the Taliban's own willingness to work with and encourage rogue behavior.

While there maybe some self motivated actors that are purely idependent; and there maybe rogues that get marked as Taliban. It's pretty much moot, because the Taliban enlists their own rogues and and works with crminal agents. Most of the "ragtag" types can't make sophistcated explosives without training, that training comes through the Taliban pipeline and that pipeline leads to back to Pakistani Covert military personnell.

Furthermore the Taliban themselves praise and extol their activities and take credit for them, unless this is just Talibam exploiting "Stolen Valor", for things they didn't do? Whatever the individual motivations are; they're taken credit by and given sanction by the Taliban organization itself. That's all there needs to be for culpability. Before I was "fooled" by the alleged "CIA Andar Uprising" in 2012, I was "fooled" by the Taliban storyline and tales of "Mullah Omar refusing bread because his poor, poor countrymen couldn't afford it". And other Noble fictionalizations. The Apologists have been fooled for the last 17-25 years with the entire Taliban storyline.

The incompetence of America doesn't absolve the maliciousness of the Taliban; what I said to Azmal applies similiarly here, If the Taliban really cared about Afghanistan's welfare they'd be working to improve Afghanistan's work force and skills set and other dire means to help the population acquire food and basic medical care. They'd have used that to create an effective mass revolt rather than "ragtag" actors that Apologists clumsily use in a failed attempt at "plausible deniability".

And it's not simply a "reaction", because the Taliban were doing this stuff before the U.S. landed in Afghanistan; it's power lust ....plain and simple. They were ousted from power, They want power, they won't stop until they're in power or at least until Pakistan is in power. Then it's "oh we're just ONE UMMAH ". It's really just a power game.

And in that sense, I'm no longer under that trance the apologists are still under.

But most of those groups that fought the Soviets weren't the Taliban, they were groups that the Taliban would eventually fight. So the goal post change of "Taliban are just reacting to American invasion" to "Taliban reacting to a history of foreign intervention" doesn't fit well. The Taliban themselves welcome foreign intervention in various forms.

Taliban may be a consequence of the different interventions but that doesn't change their culpability. It just means that other power grabbers are culpable as well.

The Taliban/Afghan insurgency continue to exist today as a response to the US/NATO presence and intervention irrespective of Pakistan, Iranian, or Russian support for the insurgency.

The Taliban formed as a respose to the chaos and rampant crimes of the civil war in Afghanistan after the Soviets were defeated.

The catalyst that brought about the Taliban was actially the rape of two girls by non other than Abdul Raziq's Uncle in Kandahar.

Kleptocrats will one day die. We know Atta but we do not know his children names. Right now there are millions of Afghan children studying. When they become adults, they will change society for the better or the worst.

With the Taliban there is no alternative for those monkeys do not even believe in knowledge nor in education. They just want to impose their tribal way of life on everybody although its pretty obvious that most of the country, urban Pashtuns included, hate them to death. This is why the AFGHAN GOVERNMENT IS BETTER OR LESS BAD THAN THE TALIBAN: system can be reformed. With Taliban can not.

The very day Russians left all those parties and movements involved in war, regardless their ethnic or religious background, are criminals in my book. No need to whitewash their crimes. All of them are guilty and the only people who deserve our sympathy is the average Afghan. I just hope the good deeds of the mujahadeens did during the soviet war saves them in qiyamah because the chaos they caused after that its just unforgivable.

Most insurgent groups today are more like the Majahadeen of the 80's. The foreign intervention just creates a chaotic situation where gangs spring up and do what they want. People see the foreign created gov of Najib and the current one as non legit.

Most analyst at the time had predicted the civil war between the groups after the Soviet withdrawal and the collapse of the Najib gov. That was expected.

I was a kid back then. I was born in Kabul during the last years of the Soviet invasion. I can not tell what most of analysts predicted but I use to ask my dad and other relatives about those times. My dad, who was anti- commie, was also a realistic person. He always used to say that "the day Mujahadeens start from pouring from mountains into the cities, that day we must start climbing the opposite mountains running away from them". I guess he did know that the infighting would be savage. Still most of Afghans were quite optimistic when commies left.
