  • Border clash

In an escalation of tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, Afghan and Pakistani border forces clashed in Spin Boldak district in southern Kandahar province on Friday morning, police officials said.
Kandahar police spokesman Zia Durani told TOLOnews that the clash started at around 4am on Friday morning when Pakistani border forces entered the Afghan territory.
According to him, the two sides agreed on a ceasefire after hours of clashes.
Two armored vehicles belonged to Pakistani forces were destroyed in the fighting, the spokesman said.
Meanwhile, Kandahar Police Chief Lieutenant Gen. Abdul Raziq said four border police forces were killed and 14 others were wounded in the clash along the Durand Line.
He said 23 civilians were also wounded in the fighting.
However, Pakistani officials have claimed that the Afghan forces attacked Pakistan’s border troops without any reason.
The Pakistani officials said that seven Pakistani border forces were killed and 27 others were wounded in the battle.
Spin Boldak is a border town and the headquarters of Spin Boldak district in the southern Kandahar province.
This comes after Lieutenant-General Naveed Mukhtar, head of Pakistan’s military intelligence - Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) – visited Kabul on Tuesday.
Neither Pakistani nor Afghan officials have yet commented on the details and objectives of the visit, however, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Pakistan's parliament speaker said the trip was aimed at improving Kabul-Islamabad relations and expanding political and military cooperation between the two countries.

From what I read only civilians died, not much of a victory.

Civilian casualties is unavoidable in these kind of exchanges, but I am 100 percent certain that Pakistani authorities are underplaying the wast causality inflicted to their military. This could also be seen how they tried to portray it as if there were only civilian damage and emphasized that it was completely unprovoked, while deliberatively avoiding any reports from the actual combat.
From Afghan side they said that they destroyed two military vehicles. The way I analyzed the situation. The Pakistani military crossed into Afghan territory and ANA opened fire. Some got killed and other fled, abandoning two their vehicles in the processes. ANA advanced and set ablaze to the vehicles. Cross border shelling proceed afterward.

The overwhelming firepower and military personals of Pakistan, have put Pakistanis in delusional position, thinking they can do whatever they want in Afghanistan. This can be seen with Pakistani shellings inside Afghan territory quite occasionally. I am quite certain that they thought that they could enter Afghan territory without any response, but got meet with a surprise when the ANA having none of that.

Causalities regardless whether civilians or military personal is nothing to celebrate. Death is never something to be celebrated and it personally get me sad when a Pakistani dies in attack or other incidents, but these kind of cross border incidence will never stop until Pakistanis accept and respect the Afghan government and its people/military.
Pakistanis still dreams of Taliban return and have not accepted Afghanistan's independence. The death of our soldiers are celebrated among Pakistanis and any Taliban gain is praised. The terror attacks ignored and the sky rocketing civilian casualties undermined. At one side emphasizing on how weak the Afghan government is without control of it own territory, and on the other side keep claiming that attacks inside Pakistan is done by NDS... claiming TTP got NDS backing...

I am not going into details in this post or get to political, but those are the ground realities. When there were filmed under Pakistani and Afghan border personal; the Afghan officer come up with quite good points. He told Pakistani military that what can a poor afghan do. You guys got bigger army, bigger guns and firepower, but keep in mind that Afghans aren't just anybody. If we gonna go down, we promise that we will take you with us.

You guys can say whatever you want to ANA, call them hashish army, mercenaries and any other name you can up with, but keep in mind that the stalemate between ANA and the Taliban is the de-motivation that will hit any army under CIVIL WAR. If push comes to shove, the Afghans are hardcore fighters and Pakistan will be facing a challenge unparalleled to any other.

Yeah, the pakistan army has been doing much the same in fata and swat, incursions basically resulting in mass civilian displacement and causing max consternation. The excuse being "those damn taliban".

You guys need to stop blaming on the West all your miseries. You know "our part of the world" wasn't that peaceful before the Brits showed up.

Regarding Pakistani, screw them. Afghanistan is to be blamed for starting a fight with Pakistan over that dead horse called Loy Awghanistan but that was long time ago. We tried to fix the situation tow years ago but Pakis refused to honor their promises.

I couldn't care less about Pakis. Let them die. Hurray! lol

You know what I find hilarious? That a loser country like Pakistan that since its inception has lost all his wars is trying to lecture us, Afghans, those who defeated several empires and created many more about war.

Pakis need to understand that war is not about airplanes or rockets. Its about strong human beings and strong wills. Who knows? May be within 100 they will name their rockets after Ashraf Ghani and Hamid Karzai if you know what I mean lmao

Discouraging to see more bloodshed in the Pashtun heartlands; chest-thumping from Punjabis, Sindhis, etc is not needed right now, and is irrelevant. It has nothing to do with them.

Pashtuns of both sides need to sit together to reach a solution, since these skirmishes continue to occur.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!
