Most Pashtun genealogies don't have mothers with too many degrees removed from Pashtun. But I do understand what you mean in a sense because we get a lot of these South Asians wanting to have some connection to Pashtuns based on at best "stories" of Pashtun ancestry, like a lot of Bangladeshis try to pull the "Sher Shah went to Bengal, we're his descendants" angle, but it's not hard to see through that. Most of the time mixtures will be one or two generations. There's also an issue of hamsayas people historically subjugated by Pashtuns "adopting" Pashto names on account they were in vicinity of a Pashtun clan; this is like African Americans who have last names of their former slave owners. These people are easy to weed out.

Sayyids we always considered Arabs even if they are Pashto-zuban for 10 generations.
I'm glad we can agree that if you can legitimately trace a Pashtun tribe in your family lineage, then you can claim ancestry. But with the rest, Iblis, what are you basing it on? Personal experience? Wiki?

I have lived in both Peshawar, and Pindi/Islamabad for approximately 8 years each i.e. more than half my life. I was born in one of these two places too. You may or may not be aware, but Pindi/Islamabad has a sizeable Pashtun population. The equivalent of high school that I was attending had about 30-40% Pashtun student body.

I've met ample pure and mixed types in my life. I have personally met Pashtun Syeds that were even referred to as Syed by name (i.e. people didn't refer to them by the middle name like they usually do, but instead went by the first name "Syed"). I've also met Pashtun Syeds that never made it known they were Syed unless for some reason it was brought up. These people were always assumed Pashtun. The possibility that they weren't was not even a thought that existed.

This is why I'm saying there's a sizeable portion that base it on race, which I personally think is legitimate.

Well my dad's from Moqur in Ghazni province, so I guess that's what I'm basing mine on .....although there are lots of Hazaras and Tajiks in Ghazni, highly unlikely he's one of them who somehow got blended in with Pashtun tribes. Moqur is an almost 100% Pashtun district if I'm correct. He did go to school in Ghazni Shar.

The interesting things about Sayyids from our regions is that they're generally not even real Sayyids, they're either Mongol-Turks, in the case of Sayyids of Kunarh or they're Indians who saw it as a great way to con the gullibly religious and get dibs on marrying local brides and social privileges like land and resources by claiming descent from a holy family. There was genetic studies done and it shows these "Sayyids" have almost entirely South Asian haplotypes and almost ZERO Middle Eastern. In fact the average Pashtun has more Middle Eastern genes than the average "Sayyid" in our region.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

Syeds are never addressed by their first name "Syed"......but by honorific title of "Shah ji" (If some one has name 'Syed Hasan Shah', he is addressed as "Shah ji", not 'Syed')

Its not that in every day conversation , the exact origin or caste of Pashto-speakers is brought up ,discussed and analyzed ......things in real life are not like "online forums"........as i mentioned, every Pashto speaker is generally a Pashtun and is considered part of the community, but his roots is highlighted on certain occasions like 'rishta' matters, 'Pashto' matters etc.....in a Pashtun society (rural), Pashtun term is not applied to every Pashto speaker, just like "Khan" and "Malak" terms are not applied to every Pashtun.

Sounds good bro, but I live in the West...polygamy is prohibited by law here. Life in the West is too comfortable for one to leave just to have more wives than one.

...i actually wouldnt mind having wives from different continents...like an ethiopian, Chinese, white and middel eastern...to spice up life. Sounds very nice...but not sure if practical...

How are you gonna convince a hungarian (non muslim) to be one of your multiple wives?

European women are easy to get laid with, but not sure if they will agree to be one of multiple wives...unless you look like Omar Borkan al Gala and have decent big bank account...lol

I'm afraid ones looking for multiple wives to spice things up (in terms of their bedroom lives) are looking at things wrong.

Its much easier, cheaper and less complicated doing the same thing, without the hassle of the cap on 4 and not-very-complicated or costly divorce process (to refresh the harem so to speak), by doing the same thing in the modern 21st century world without entering into wedlock in the first place.

Unless we are to be made to believe that for the truly devout, there is simply no fornication outside of the marital contract.

Which, for me, is stretching things beyond the breaking point of credulity, to be perfectly honest.

              Cheers, Doc

P.S. Not to mention the multiple mothers-in-law of course. Unless you are really lucky and get a batch of 4 sisters.

Iblis sees it wrong...one thing is to have multiple wives ...another is to have one wife whom you have deep connection with, fall in love, etc....pretty sure most of us will prefer the latter....you can have as much sex as possible with as many women as possible, but at some point it gets boring...you come to a point where you feel life is empty and desire having one special woman whom you connect with on a deeper emotional level rather than multiple women whom you dont have much emotional connection with but are just in it for the sex...(what polygamy essentially is)

It is the nature of the male to get bored quickly.

I'm afraid even the "just in it for sex" bit will rarely outlast 6 months.

Its crazy in a country as overpopulated as India is for guys to be roaming around with 10 and 12 kids.

Sanjay Gandhi had the right idea. Forcible booch on the pappu after two. Kids that is. Not wives. Multiple wives we are hopefully after 7 decades of being a Republic finally seeming to be headed in the direction of an Uniform Civil Code. About time. The debate over the instant Triple Talaq is a great beginning. And because it was asked for by Muslim women in the first place, nobody like @Samandri can stand up an accuse us of being intolerant towards Muslims.

Indian Muslim women are also Indian citizens. And they deserve the same rights and status in society and the eyes of the law that any other Indian girl gets as her birth right. And before people bring up rape cases that make the news (as if there are not many more in their own backyard ....), please remember that rapes are not done by the government, the law makers, the judiciary and the police.

The law will be tweaked to Indian sensibilities. The law needs to be blind to religion.

                  Cheers, Doc

P.S. I agree with Iblis. Chinese girls I find really attractive as well. Japanese even more. Koreans, Viet and Thai not so much. Even in our own country, the girls from Sikkim and Manipur.

I know Afghans who managed to get around polygamy restrictions; You just do Islamic Marriages. In Fact in Virginia, Illinois and Arizona, I know three families where the father has more than one wife.

See in the West, there are loopholes; they'll let you have "Open Relationships" just as long as you aren't legally married. You can do Islamic marriage

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

You have wrong assumptions on both accounts. European women have lots of morals , especially traditional Eastern Europeans. Also there are Hungarian Muslims. But Hungarian ladies are not really like Western ladies, they're prettier on average too.
