    Herat bro,

You should well know that the issue of domination factually and historically does not hold true and Pashtuns have ruled Afghanistan together with Tajiks in Particular. In fact Tajiks have always been and are over-represented. The ones who have been discriminated against were the Shias and Hazaras. Barnet Runi who is not Pashtun for your reference has explored this phenomenon in its chronology. Not even on single indicator have Pashtuns dominated, it does not presently and will not in the future because there is simply no reason for it. We can all share Afghanistan equally and be all happy. Ashraf Ghani has tried his best to assuage this fear and with Zia Massoud on board and the power the highest executive post after the president which he will occupy that concern is absolutely out of the way. Tajiks are our brothers and equal to us. Let people come here on PF and waffle as they like. You should know better.

I do not know, why is it such a surprise that Ashraf Ghani won?. Most people running for election were Pashtun.. (One claiming to be Pashtun). . so once you go for second round and only two contenders.... one Pashtun and another Pashtun wanna be.. what do you think the result is gong to be.. considering that Pashtuns makes majority of population of Afghanistan..
What really drives me hazy is it me or are the others crazy

Actually whether Ghani or Abdullah becomes president is not very important. It's now crucial that the transfer of power goes without violence. If so, it will be the first time in Afghanistan's bloody history.

I hope Pashtuns remain calm and don't destroy Kabul again, or ignite a civil war.

Both sides committed a lot of fraud. Although Ghani takes the cake, because he miraculously managed to increase his voters even though the Pashtun countryside is being terrorized by Talibans.

Intresting comments here thus far, and i think the idea of spliiting up Afghanistan is a wet dream of some individuals living in the stone ages. It's not going to happen.

On the answer to Pashtun domination of Afghanistan, the process was already initiated by Abdur Rahman who forcefully induced Pashtuns to migrate to northern and western lands and i think one day it will be accomplished fully by a nationalist Pashtun president who could take full control of his power and make Pashtuns the dominant ethnic group in all regions. Maybe not in our life time but it could happen, deep down in every Pashtun, there is a nationalist hoping for complete domination of the whole country. Pashtuns are the largest ethnic group for god's sake, they can't be confined to only the south and east. The Arabs did it to all of the middle east and i think the same can happen to south central asia.

There should be absolutely no surprise. All these hue and commotion by Abdullah+corrupt Panjsheri kleptorocracy and the warlords and individuals like Atta Noor and Mahmoud Karzai who have looted hundreds of millions of dollars from state revenues and banks are worried that with Ashraf Ghani at the least they will not be able to perpetuate their corruption and sucking the blood of the people or most likely their dismissal from their posts and trail is awaiting them.

All this spoiler act is that they be accommodated in Ghani's government and left alone and these are exactly the people prodding Abdullah for the madness he is being fiddled with and he acted rather on their impulse than as a thoughtful and prudent leader of a political group bidding to become the head of the state. He is very unfit for the job and Afghanistan could revert to the 1990's under him. Did you see Ghul Agha Sherzai kissing him at the end? lol He will be put into a nice guerrilla cage by Ghani so no wonder.

              Al-Tajikistani,

For god's sake stop ridiculing yourself. Show me a single act of violence related to the process of elections by Pashtuns and we hear all sort of gooness from individuals like you. You are an idiot.

Seems you guys are a bit "nervous". You don't like us then let us go. You don't want to live with us "as equals".

By committing fraud you have exposed yourselves. Partition for peace. As a tajik herati I find it great.

One of my fears is that this is a pretext for the division of Afghanistan. A parallel government cannot work; it is euphemism for new boundaries and borders and international lines.

Your fears will come true very soon. I don't like "partitions" because that mean bloodbath, mass murder and ethnic cleansing. But we also know that Afghanistan is a failed state that will never work.

One day there is a Czechoslovakia and in the next day there is not. World will go on without Afghanistan.. and I think so we will do. Yugoslavia, Sudan, Libya, Iraq, Korea, India,.. you know very well partition can happen.

                        I concur. It pains me.

The only thing we have in common is Islam, and we all love Islam. We have a very small minority of followers of other religions and atheists.

Islam is the only thing that can unite us and keep us united.

When we differ on anything else and do not come back to that which unites us, then we will become like the above mentioned countries.

In a tribalized country like Afghanistan I think not even Islam can bring all of us together. Pashtuns only care about pashtuns, tajiks only care about tajiks,.. and so on. This forum is a good proof of that. I think only a federal system where every region/ethnicity can rule himself can help our country but I can not understand why pashtuns are against federalism. Sometimes I feel like pashtuns are enemies of their own country.

It is not only the Pashtun population.

I have somewhat answered it here:

Conversing the truth, lies and intelligence pertaining to the assessment of the Pashtun population across the Durrand line.

For more the ten years Tajik dominated the afghan govt from A-Z .
Now Ghani won the election and all parties must accept the result.
Abdullah is a clear loser. He is playing dirty politics here for the interests of other countries.
He is divisive and threat to afghan unity.
The people should reject his plan .

After ravishing the resources and exploiting the population, the Satan always leaves an occupied nation with thorns sworn. He divides and subdivide in a manner so that the he can continue to exploit. The Malayan peninsula, Hindustan/SA, Arabia and ME, W Africa, N Africa, Cyprus, W Asia and wherever the Satan had set foot, this is the common story.
