Abdullah declares victory, warns resistance against fake results

By Ghanizada - Tue Jul 08 2014, 1:49 pm

Dr. Abdullah Abdullah on Tuesday declared victory in the second round of election and warned to resist the upcoming government claiming that the government and electoral bodies were involved in massive fraud during the runoff election.
Abdullah was speaking among thousands of his supporters in Loya Jirga hall following the announcement of preliminary vote results .
He warned that a call from him could change the situation in the country; however, he insisted that his team was against violence, crisis and civil war.
Abdullah also added that his supporters and allies have called on him to announce his government which is their right and can not be ignored.
He urged his supporters to allow him with more time in order to take a decision and fulfill his promises.
The independent election commission of Afghanistan on Monday released the preliminary vote results for the runoff election which puts Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai in the lead.
The release of preliminary results by IEC was rejected by Dr. Abdullah’s criticizing the electoral bodies for not separating the fake votes.
On the other hand Gen. Atta Mohammad Noor, a close ally of Dr. Abdullah and governor of Balkh province suggested the announcement of a parallel government.
However, the US Secretary of State John Kerry reacted towards the remarks and warned that any action to seize power illegally in Afghanistan would lead to the end of US financial and security support to Afghanistan.

Ghani rules out formation of a parallel government

By Ghanizada - Tue Jul 08 2014, 6:47 pm

The leading presidential candidate in the second round of election, Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai ruled out the formation of a parallel government.
Ghani appeared in the first press conference following the announcement of the preliminary vote results for the runoff presidential election.
He said his team favours the formation of a government that will ensure the prosperity and unity of the country.
Ghani also claimed that his team’s votes were found more cleaner than Dr. Abdullah’s following the audit and recount of votes in 1930 polling stations.
He called on independent electoral complaints commission to inspect votes from 7,100 polling stations and insisted that any claim of fraud needs to be subjected to scrutiny.
This comes as prominent Afghan politician and governor of northern Balkh province Gen. Atta Mohammad Noor said the announcement of the vote results without cleaning of fraudulent votes has paved the way for the announcement of a parallel government.
The US Secretary of State John Kerry also expressed grave concern regarding the suggestion of a parallel government in Afghanistan.
Kerry warned that any action to seize power illegally in Afghanistan would lead to the end of US financial and security support to Afghanistan.

ion of Karzai’s poster in Loya Jirga hall Afghans welcome re-installation of Karzai’s poster in Loya Jirga hall

By Ghanizada - Tue Jul 08 2014, 7:22 pm

The re-installation of President Hamid Karzai’s photo in Loya Jirga hall was welcomed after a number of Dr. Abdullah’s supporters tore down the poster.
The poster was re-installed by Zubair Massoud, son of Ahmad Zia Massoud who supported Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai election runoff.
“No one has the right to take down the picture of the President Of Afghanistan, such a disgraceful act,” Zubair Massoud said in a Twitter message.
Dr. Abdullah also expressed regrets over the act by his angry supporters and said it was never his team’s intention to tear down the poster.
In the meantime, the re-installation of the poster was warmly welcomed by Afghans and pictures showing the re-installation work by Zubair Massoud was widely circulated on social media websites.
zubairMassoud – well done bro, we are proud of you and thanks for restoring that picture,” a Twitter message said.
It was stated in another Twitter message, “Hero’s blood will act heroically. Not like those who talk about #Afghan unity but behave like traitors zubairMassoud.”
President Karzai’s poster was torn down ahead of Dr. Abdullah’s arrival in Loya Jirga hall where he announced his stance to preliminary vote results announced on Monday.
The announcement which put Dr. Ghani in the lead by over a million vote created furore among the supporters of Dr. Abdullah where aerial firing was also reported in parts of capital Kabul late Monday.

This just shows the immaturity of Abdullah who is acting like a total spoiled child. Acting like an 8 year old is totatly inexcusable and embarassing on his part espicially as adult and ripping down posters won't change the results.

I bet Abdullah supporters like Bost Bastan and Al-Tajiki would defend this heinous act.

Did you guys even watch the speech? I am sure Al-Afghani (Al-Tajikistani) would like us to take it serious no less the great speeches that have been delivered in history marking their own significance. The more I think and what to make of it amazes me, and the qualities that Mr. Abdullah has been exhibiting is hopelessly hilarious. Could you imagine as the president?

Even idiot like Al-Afghani would have spoke better than his rambling on and on. He has so over-played his hand that will end him a worse looser than he is now. Only bad politicians create turmoil; he is not only a big disappointment and unfortunate for those who voted for him but the entire country and all stakeholders.

He has already declared himself the winner and he promised that he will declare his government once he meets John Kerry who has promised him to come on Friday. Lol At one point he was tempted to declare himself as head of a government there and then but some one I think stopped him just short. )

He promised that he will soon declare his government now lets wait till John Kerry comes and then leaves. Expectation should be high from some idiots. There was a guy with a fat belly who slapping his belly harder and harder while he was urging Abdullah as he desired him to announce himself the head of their government.

He sounded in a very confused state of mind. With all this madness he going to find himself in to a deeper wilderness than he already is in. Now what is he going to say to every one and particularly the guy who was slapping his fat belly when after all he will be told at the end again that he has lost and clearly told that he is not the president?

ComradePashtun sounds to me Americans are on his side. I see a lot of pro-Abdullah views in Western media. Moreover, what is the reality of the vote fraud? What may be the reasons total vote jumping from 7 millions in the elections to 8 millions in the run-off?

When one have 9 + candidates to chose from, it is harder for them to decide on the 'best choice'. In the run-off the choice is reduced to 2 candidates, which for everyday person makes a better choice easier. Secondly, one cannot assume that a candidate gains more than 50 % of the votes in the first round, since there are 9 + of them. Therefor waiting for the second round to vote and chose the winner is more desirable. This way they spare themselves the risk of danger and time. Also in Pashtun culture once the elders decide something, everyone will follow. In the first round there were many candidates, which made different benefits for different groups, and therefor there were no clear choice, especially for Pashtuns. Second round was a more or less a clear choice and everyone followed through.

Basically it was because of the amount of candidates. At least it is what I believe.

Badakshan is not Afghanistan (Pashtunistan), Mazar is not Afghanistan (Pashtunistan). I frankly dont give a rats arse about Abdullah and prefer Ghani if that means less bloodshed and death over the long run but this post is essentially why I dont believe Afghanistan can work. You people are not interested in living and letting live, all of you people are interested in domination of other ethnic groups and even segments of populations within your own ethnic group (in the case of you Pashtuns, your tribal folk), that includes several of the self-deceived ethnocentric Pashtun posters in this thread. Al-Tajikistani is often ethnocentric, aggressive and spiteful himself but at least he is a separatist, unlike you ethnocentric Pashtuns, who are more interested in domination.

Toramana, you and I are both alike in one fundamental, general sense, our specific political views notwithstanding: we are nationalists but we are also separatists who simply want the best for our own people but mean no harm to others. Many people in this forum are not like you or I, take that self-deceptive Khostai or this user here, for example, who believe that Pashtuns have an inherent right to rule, that importance to language should be apportioned on the basis of supposed majority/minority status throughout the country without regard to specific ethnic make-up of regions etc. I do not deny that similar sentiment exists among Tajiks too. Altogether, I really can't understand how it is possible to be a nationalist without being a separatist and yet respect other peoples right to their own interests.

I SECOND FDSM0305, and I would further add that Abdullah coming to power played out as an almost existential threat in Pashtun regions to a large extend was perceived as worse condemnation and suppression than they fell subject to under Rabani's government, or they come out in numbers and vote for Ghani with prospect for improvement in the status-quo socio-economically and under him there is even an increased chance of restoration of peace in their regions. Ashraf Ghani's camp captured these sentiments quite well and with an animated and almost every mosque and door to door campaign in Pashtun regions without a doubt led to a higher turnout. These sentiments were so strong and what happened to be rather interesting was even the role the Taliban played. You may know or what that the role Taliban played in the second round not only did they not create insecurity but they urged people to vote for Ghani in many Pashtun areas. What I would say was a collusion and working together between Ghani's team and the Taliban which for political reasons they rather even not mention; I would assume even Abdullah's camp probably knows this and so does others (foreigners). The entire Uzbek population equally and and enthusiastically in even higher turnout than the previous round voted for Ghani, similarly ethnic sentiments were instigated there by Dostum Padsha the god-father of all Uzbeks. About 30% of Hazaras, more of them this time also voted for Ghani. Without a doubt in all previous elections be them presidential, parliamentary as well as provincial there fraud was committed and so was this round not an exception. Both teams committed fraud and that is the plain truth and Abdullah's team no less passionately than Ghani's. My best hunch is that up to or less than a million of Ghani's and half a million of Abdullah's votes are fraudulent.
