Birlik Turkistan is an impossible endeavour. Afghanistan's Uzbeks and Turkmen are in the low millions population wise, so I'm not sure a how a state with such an extremely low population would be able to sustain itself and survive. My uzbek uncle and his family haven't even heard of this movement or the term 'Birlik Turkistan'.

I call this bull. It's probably just propaganda. Why do you guys like to spread paranoia, especially you Bost Bastan News?
i heard only about birlik movement from uzbekistan

And in Uzbekistan the Karakalpak Turkic ethnic group wants an independent Karkalpakstan.

Bostan thinks Pan-Turkism can become a reality lol.

So Turkey has won against Iran in the battle for Hazara loyalties?

How did they do that? Forget about doubtful historical claims why does the ordinary Hazara in Afghanistan prefer Turkey to Iran?

            - Iran has the same religion/sect

            - Iran has the same language

            - Iran has a border

If Turkey has indeed won the hearts of the Hazara, this is quite an impressive achievement.
the modern Hazara youth is not anymore like their fathers. Not Islam is important for them but education. They say Islam is our religion, Ok, but education is our freedom and power. Iran is a theologiancentric state while Turkey is focusing on Hazara and Uzbek education. Why do you think Hazaras and Uzbeks are doing so well in these years unlike centuries or decades before?

Nothing is allowed to go into the arg and leave the arg, otherwise you already would know all those people entering and leaving it and their offices and works. It“s like a military camp. Since you live in UK or USA you can search for such tables in those countries. They have it as well. US surely has such tables. We got ours from them.

                    1. If this is true, then the Turkic states of Central Asia are not at all interested in pan-Turkism and are interested in developing their own nation states, Kazakhstan for example is around 1/3 ethnic Russian and as the Ukraine crisis just reinforces cannot afford to anger its giant neighbour to the north. Trying to "Kazakhify" Kazakhstan is a struggle let alone wider dreams of pan-Turkism.

                    2. The only state in the "Turkic world" which is interested in pan-Turkism is Turkey but they have no border with Afghanistan, cannot send troops there and have been humiliated in Syria and Iraq (where there are big Turkmen populations).

Turkey itself might be heading for an economic crisis soon.

                    3. In my experience with Afghans most of them place their allegiance to the state of Afghanistan before their particular ethnicity. However I have never met a Uzbek from Afghanistan but I have met Pashtuns (a former friend was a Mahmudzai from Kabul and related to Zahir Shah) and Farsiwan/Tajiks.

I doubt Uzbeks from ex-Soviet Uzbekistan and Afghanistan have that much in common anyway, probably less in common than Pashtuns from Afghanistan and Pakistan.
And I will add to that, i.e., as well the most resource-rich part of Kazakistan is inhabited by Russians. So Pan-Turkism will be suicidal in case that part goes to Russia. But nevertheless, due to security concerns, Uzbakistan and Kazakistan may do extend support to Dostum.

There is a saying keep your friends closer, but keep your enemies even closer.

By keeping the Uzbek (maybe wider Turkic) community close to him by having Dostum as a vice-president, Dr Ashraf Ghani is avoiding confrontational politics.

I would have thought that is better for pan-Afghan unity isn't it as it lessens the risk of tension and division between Afghan ethnic groups?

Anyway a strong Uzbek community, alongside Hazaras, who are increasingly secular decreases the chances of the Taliban ever controlling the whole of Afghanistan i.e. Uzbek areas. Notice how little violence (despite some) has occurred in these elections, which indicates a relative decline in Taliban power.

Plus Afghanistan as a country is sociologically fundamentally different in a different world than it was in the 1990s when the Saudi/Pakistani-backed Taliban took over.

Sheberghan and faryab used to be part of the khanate of bukhara young simpleton. The uzbeks have long inhabited that land and it only became part of Afghanistan when Ahmad Shah Durrani was given the province as a gift.

And don't majority of tajiks in afg trace their ancestry to samarkand and other tajik cites north of the amu darya?

I would agree with Bengal-Tiger and Bostan in general. Turkey like all other nations such as Persians, Arabs, Russians, British, etc. with imperial past want the return of their days of glory one way or the other and so try to spread their influence. And such aspirations become more srong under conservative leaders like Erdagon.

Turkey was the main supporter of Dostum in 1990s. It also gave refuge or citizenship to many Afghan Kirghiz due to the ethnic link.
