  • just a small question from all afghan pashtuns.

Now i know that alot of pashtuns here are from afghanistan and they love their country to death... i am not here to hurt somebody but i just have a small question in my mind but before that i will take ur permission and i would really appreciate if people dont start bombarding me with hatred comments .this is just a small thing that came in my mind.
Now i know that afghan pashtuns use afghan terms or most precisely ethnic afghan term for pashtuns and when pak pashtuns dont accept this term u call them Urdu ghulam but when pak pashtuns reply that u afghan pashtuns urselves are heavly influenced by persian, alot of of afghans deny it .
Now if i come to the real point the word afghan itself is a persian word and persians use to say it to anything related to pashtuns in the past(just befroe tajiks hazara and uzbek became afghans too).. pashtuns in afghanistan have even given a name(afghanistan) to their country on basis of persian language. Now i just wanted to ask so when indians use to call pashtuns pathans why u guys hate the word pathan but not hate the word afghan which is given by persians..
secondly dont u think that afghan pashtuns have been heavily influenced by farsi culture? and afghan pashtuns should not say things like urdu ghulam to pakistan pashtuns and not hate the word pathan too..

Before anybody answers its my humble rrequest that its just a question that came in my mind i dont mean to offend anybody
    Thankyou

One calls the other 'this' the other is calling him 'that' .. End of Story! We must learn to co-exist with all that difference of opinion.

your question is offensive since it is full of ignorance.
it is an insult to our intelligence and a very weak attempt at defence of pathetic pathans such as shehbaz khar.

whats offensive in it . and did i say anything wrong ,it is completely wrong what u r saying ...
dont u think its because of the farsi influence that u guys focus v much on the word afghan(farsi word) instead of a pashto word pashtun/Pakhtun

that is offensive that you are calling "AFGHAN" a farsi word.
Pakhtun and Pashtun are those who belong to Afghanistan.

you can be pathan pakistani all you want and follow their hindu culture just dont ask us to redefine the identity of Pashtuns for your sake.

Daggarwaal is the type of 'Pathan' who the Indics would claim to be 'garam dimaagh'. He sometimes allies himself with people who claim to be our 'friends' and doesn't always see these shortcomings. That said he is raw and honest about how he feels. I think we have a place for that. He knows I respect a key part of that.

Shabaaz should not be called names. He's actually the opposite of the garam dimaagh stereotype and comes across as cool and composed. I do not know how Pakistanis view that - perhaps he is seen as an ideal conformist, but I suspect that someone with his level of intelligence/Pashtun consciousness might actually be an asset.

As for the question that was raised - Pashtuns, wherever they live are influenced by xyz. We need to address our economic and security issues first and (for me) work on developing our cultural/ linguistic institutions a very close second. When that part of your identity is strong, Farsi and Urdu are not worth getting upset about.

As for Farsi, it is a developed, well established language, both in terms of literature and politics and has influenced many languages and cultures in the region, including Urdu which in its purest form borrows -according to some estimations - close to 60% of its vocabulary from Farsi anyway.

Well to be honest there was no afghanistan before 1800s and the land(afghanistan land and frontier) was divided amongst pashtuns and khorasanians.,..so u mean to say as there was no afghanistan there were no pashtuns or pakhtuns bfr 1800s(as refered by u that pashtuns are the ones who belong to afghanistan)..cmon u cant deny the reality ..pakhtuns were refered as afghans by persians but they themselves refered themselves as pakhtun or pashtun(the best words..)..afghan is a persian word for pakhtuns and u are not accepting ur own pashto word pashtun in contrast to afghan which is a known persian word..(instead u are angry at pakistani pashtuns who are refereed sometimes as pathan which is also a word similar to afghan but given by other group of people)
and u need to respect every culture as stated in islam that dont make fun of anybody elses religion or else they will make fun of ur religion.
truth is u just want ur point of view to be accepted not anybody elses as u think that u r superior to other people whether they are black, asians, indians, etc.

than it seems to be a quoted insult.
also im not per se garam damaagh and if someone from hindu culture(indians and pakistanis) call me that i wont mind . for a pakhtun to call me pathan and also portray me garam damaagh and stereotypical is a different story.

i respect you but expect you also not try to malign me and call me pathan and stereotypical.
