I like America being the sole super power of the world and the champion of democracy, human rights, development, education, freedom of expression and other liberal values. In their national interest , they might do things which I do not approve like having good relations with the Wahabi Kingdom of Saudi but in realpolitik such anomalies and abnormalities are normal.Originally posted by Yousufzai View PostNot liberal democracy, but of America and Pakistan, I'd say.
Arabs started from Makkah and Madinah and conquered the whole known world, changed their language, religion, culture . At least USA did not annex any inch of land forcefully. Puerto Rico may be an exception but USA has its reason for this attachment, not occupation. Pashtuns were defeated by Arabs/Turks and their land , culture everything was changed. The same is done by USA. They came to help us to get rid of the scoundrels of the Taliban, which no doubt were created by them, but they now confess this mistake.
I was born in Kunar, Afghanistan. My family belongs to Afghanistan. But I passed my childhood in Dir Pakistan and later in other parts of both Pashtun and non Pashtun areas. Now I do not live in neither Afghanistan nor Pakistan. So I will be neutral. I appreciate Pakistan for its democracy, strong military, strong institutions based on British model and their nuclear capabilities.
I do not approve their military dictatorships or support of some agencies for Taliban or religious extremism. If Pashto and Pashtuns have problems in Pakistan, it is mainly because of the Pashtun themselves or their leaders. For example why they do not pass a bill in KP Assembly declaring Pashto to be the official langauge of KP. Why Pashtuns of Balochistan who are almost half of its population, do not ask for their separate identity or merger with KP? Pashtuns must exploit the democratic culture of Pakistan as ANP did in giving a name to Pashtuns of North west.

Your first reason makes no sense. Being powerful has no bearing on the ethics of a country's policies. Regarding your second point, even the quickest glance at history reveals that the United States has had no interest in democracy and human rights for most of its history. In Latin America and the Middle East , the U.S. has worked against countless democratic governments and tried to install dictators in their place. Just read up on the history of Brazil, Guatemala, El Salvador, Chile, Panama, and Iran. In Pakistan, they supported every single one of the military dictators who took power, including Zia. And when it comes to human rights, all one needs to do is look at what they did in Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan (I don't even need to mention the crimes American leaders are indirectly responsible for, given their support for all types of dictatorships and terrorist groups).Originally posted by Badlun View PostI like America being the sole super power of the world and the champion of democracy, human rights, development, education, freedom of expression and other liberal values.
Most of America was stolen from the indigenous communities who lived there before.Arabs started from Makkah and Madinah and conquered the whole known world, changed their language, religion, culture . I don't see why anyone would appreciate a country for having a strong military or nuclear weapons. And if democracy and sound national institutions are what you're concerned with, then Pakistan is hardly an ideal. Pakistanis have had to live under decades of military dictatorship because of all the coups, and today the country is very unstable politically.I appreciate Pakistan for its democracy, strong military, strong institutions based on British model and their nuclear capabilities.
So state repression plays no role whatsoever? When our leaders did fight for our rights, what happened to them? What happened to Bacha Khan and Abdul Samad Khan Achakzai? If Pashto and Pashtuns have problems in Pakistan, it is mainly because of the Pashtun themselves or their leaders.

I am a realist and I like strong countries and strong economies. I am pragmatist and I like success more than the failure. proof of the pudding is in its eating. I admire Muhamamd and Arabs of that time who were successful and I admire USA of today who is the land of opportunities and the strongest polity and economy. Pakistan, if there is no terrorism, is the world;s 6th in population and nuclear energy. More laterOriginally posted by Yousufzai View PostYour first reason makes no sense. Utter moronic non-sense. Democracy and human rights are just instruments to blackmail and destabilize countries that challenge the global hegemonic agenda. If the interests required the so-called bastion of democracy and human rights will not hesitate to exterminate whole populations as it did to natives.
What happened to Mussadiq of Iran and why can motivate anybody to think sensibly but not those living under the illusion of saviors coming to their help.

Thanks Hallo. You are the only one besides Bengal-Tiger that understands what I stand for. Besides, I like communists although I don't agree with their narrow view of history now (at one time though I was associated with them).
But I do think that they were more humanists than the so-called capitalist democrats.

Yes, but which new ideology came peacefull in to power? Can you name one? I am not a communist but I think like Toramona I would also choose communism any time of the day above Sharia, or Islamic theocracy, look how people behave under Islamic rule in Afghanistan, no logic, no rational thinking no humanity, just kill torture and burn people who slitly offend you. This is not normal, it needs to be stopped.Originally posted by Hallo View Posti dont agree with you on this point

And people claiming that there is no true Shariah or that they do not reprecent Islam are delusional. If true Shariah can not be implemented after 1400 years, than we as people really need to ask ourself what the true problem in all this is....

No its not, its thanks to that that we still have just 35% of literate population and thanks to that we have group like taliban. Afghanistan need secularism and modernism and fast. Becuase if we not adapt to the modern world, modern world will eat us, like it does now.Originally posted by Hallo View Postwell none!
