Welcome Edris Jan.
I hope you enjoy your stay with us.
Just like some brothers and sisters pointed it out that a language is just a tool of communication, there are many other aspects that show and define your nationality/tribe. The way some members make statements like " You are not a Pashtun if you don't know how to speak Pashto" makes almost half of Pashtuns living abroad Non-Pashtuns but white washed.
So don't take the nonsense as an insult that guy must not have had any idea about what was he saying. The reason is because some Families from the beginning are taught something without any logic. For example; " You are not a Pashtun if you cannot speak Pashto" just came out of nowhere by someone elder in the family without explaining and giving better reasons. If I were you I would've asked that Kandahari guy what did he think of those Pashtuns who haven't been to Afghanistan in their life and cannot speak Pashto at all? but their fathers, grandfathers were Pashtuns and come from Pashtun tribes i.e Ahmadzai, Mohammadzai, Kakar, Karzai etc.. Aren't they Pashtuns? Don't they belong to this homeland?
To me such statements are another attempt at drawing lines and creating distances among our own brothers/sisters and I tell you what this trait doesn't belong to any decent tribe/nation with a little sense of love and affection for their fellow countrymen and I say this trait more belongs to brainwashed person.

HaHaHa.........Edris khana mara khair da Ror da wo knaOriginally posted by Edris View PostSo guys and girls this is my second thread in this forum.
And my question is what do you think about those Pashtuns who cant or speak a little Pashtu?
Do you consider him a Pashtun?
I am Kakar and I dont know since how many generations our family have been speaking Dari, I can speak Pashtu but not that well.
Recently there was this Kandahari dude who told me that if you dont speak Pashtu you are not Pashtun. ( I got it as an insult )
I think being Pashtuns isnt that much about the language its about the blood with in you.
Thanks
