There's a lot of factors involved... and no women haven't been treated as slaves for millenniums, it is only certain people who have this idea that they should be treated as slaves as they find themselves more superior.

The Afghan clothing you see today is merely for fashion purposes. Its not an actual representation of Pashtun attire. Pashtun attire for women, is heavy with no fashion bling bling, but hand made embrodiery. No doubt do cultures from another are similar or overlap to another, that happens and its natural. But that doesnt mean the culture is the same.

lol religion is religion and culture is culture. it may be true that religion is probably the biggest guideline in both cultures but that doesnt mean that the people are going to act the same.. for example pashtun women will most likely still have a scarves on their heads in a room that is filled with just women.. now it isn't haram for them to remove theri scarves but its just a cultural norm. i dont know if arabs have something like that in their culture, do they?

its just a cultural thing....trust me, back home no one wears "hijab" style scarfs. At home and around immediate family, they wear a loose scarf...outside of the village, its a burqa, or a big white scarf that covers the head till the wrists.

back home when pashtanas are at home they wear a scarf loosly on their heads but then when they go out in public they wear a buqra or niqaab or atleast full hijab covering their hair ok gosh stop being so bitter
