    wisdom of the elders on PF

    so i need a bit of help from you lot if you dont mind

    here is the situation i am in:

    today i went down to a business owned by an afghan who speaks pashto etc just last week he had requested business cards with new logo designs and he wanted a light box ( side box outside shops) and at the time i had run him through my companies sales procedure and he was happy with it. he needed to pay a 25 percent deposit of the total amount so we can get him samples designed and created, and today i had gone to drop it of and according to company rules collect the rest of the outstanding payment either by cheque or he could call up and use card etc. he was happy with the designs etc and wanted it but he didnt want to pay of the outstanding amount and i explained to him that i am just following rules here which i cant bend for you but he was having none of that and started riasing his voice. i kept my cool and tried to calm him down and tell him this is how its done by every company here etc he pretty much lost it and started swearing at me and goes to me : " i will strip you of your clothes here and beat you" so i go to him shut up and dont talk to me in that manner or else i wont be able to control my hand. he swore a bit mre and then i left it and told him he can come to our office and meet with the manger and discuss what ever he wants there.

    now this happened early morning and all day it has pretrty much really pissed me of and i feel very disrespected and have a big urge to go down and hit him. now thing i am asking is his like in his 30s so what should i do becouse i cant stand being embrassed like that and not doing anything :@
    so yh advise me please!!!!

      Never do business with An Afghan. :p

      Never speak to anyone in pakhto just English. Don't get over friendly just keep it professional.

      Change rules, get payment upfront before giving product.

      Send him a company letter, that he owes you money and threaten legal action.

      Deport his ass. Lol. Get immigration on him. He sounds like a c**t.

          yh i think i kind of learnt my lesson that even if they are afghan dont be nice just do the business and close what ever needs to be done couse playing the nice guy they think they can get things done thier way!!!

            you dont need elders for this mate, first question..did you guys explain to him the payment procedure and your company policy regarding samples and all that before signing him up for it ?
            It's enough that I know, Our time had a home, In your heart..Was a place..But the glass always breaks..

              i was only being nice and helping him becouse i thought yh my own afghan but i probz wont think that anymre

                If you know him prett well, visit him in person and have a talk with him. Try figuring out the underlying concern of his objection. Don't have a shouting competition with him. Also, over the phone he is going to continue acting like a tough guy. Don't get physical though. If you refuse to visit him, send him a nice letter.

                  yep thats the first thing we did before even getting payment for the sample of him and he was happy with it. now his changed his mind and wants everything done before he pays the rest off.

                      wrora i no his concern as he has already told me and its basicly that other contractors such as indian or pakistani workers only take payment after the job is done and he wants us to do the same but we cant becouse that is not our policy regarding payments and sales.
                      and if i visit him i will get physical most probably so i think i will take your advice and send him a letter instead.

                        so you had him sign off on something that specifically says that payment is required before the product is delivered right ?

                        If you have all the basis covered than its not your problem anymore, your company should have a contract with a collection agency if they don't i think they can easily get one to collect the payment for you. But DO NOT approach him on personal basis since the man seems like he is too hyper and aggressive for that. If you get involved again he can say that you were threatening him or something even if you weren't.

                        here is an idea though, do not call him but rather send him a voicemail and a letter dictating that this is the last time your company is contacting him for delinquent payment record and should he not make the payment before a fixed date he will go through a collection agency

                        Go to your manager and do the entire process through him.

                          did he tell u the reason why he refused to make payment? could it be that he didn't trust u with the payment?

                            oh yh my manager is already working on a letter to send to him letting him no and if he still dosnt contact etc then we will be forced to pass it on to collecting agency.

                              yes becouse other people who have offered it to him after he put deposit down with us have told him they take full payment only after all the work is done
                              and its not a matter of trust becouse if we do any wrong with him he can sue us, he has been to our office, he has our regierted company number and we dont take cash so its not like we will take money and run away.
