I find them disrespectful as well. Never in my life, have I heard of what he said, or witnesses them. I have noticed in my family, that the ones who attended these madrassas are more disciplined, then the ones who haven't. Everyone I talked to who attended madrases, all have good things to say, while the ones who never went cry bloody child abuse.
