The same way if you were born in Russia, you are considered a Russian national. Germans or Russians will NOT say "We are not German anymore because we gave birth to Manzareh in Karlsruhe".

In a nutshell, What I am saying is pretty elementary, every Pashtun is an Afghan, but not every Afghan is a Pashtun. The term Afghan means Pashtun, the term Pashto means Afghani. That's all. These are not new 'theories' that I am coining, hence my alarming surprise to these peculiar questions. These are facts both historically and presently. If your relatives in Swat visit the local revenue office, in their domicles they will be listed as AFGHAN. The government of Pakistan confesses to this obvious fact, it's just some delusional Pashtuns that are brainwashed beyond understand that try to evade the obvious.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

We all may know that for learning of any language we need receptive(listening, reading) and productive(speaking, writing) skills. Except Pashtun tribes like Muhammadzai in Afghansitan, Nyazis, Jadoon, Tareen etc in Pakistan all Pashtuns do speak Pashto but very less number of Pashtuns write and read Pashto. In Pakistan writing and reading of Pashto is almost extinct while in Afghansitan especially in Qandahar still its writing and reading is alive but in rest of Afghanistan the situation is not that good.

Every Khostwal may speak and listen to Pashto but may not write and read Pashto and may not use Pashto as a medium of education especially at higher classes. Pashto should eb a complete language not only a spoken language.

Every single school in Afghanistan. Repeat after me, every single student in Afghanistan knows how to read and write in Pashto. Even the hard core Tajik Nationalists know how to read and write in Pashto, from Dr.Abdullah, to Amrullah Saleh, to Afghans in Mazar, to Afghans in Bamiyan, to Afghans in Panjshir.

Why do we constantly assume that schools in Afghanistan do NOT teach students how to read and write in both Pashto, and Dari? I agree that higher education is a bit different, but every school in Afghanistan NOT JUST KANDAHAR teaches students how to read and write in Pashto, even if the province population is 1 percent Pashtun. I hope most of you are not naive enough to believe that hardcore nationalists like Dr.Abdullah. Amrullah Saleh, learned Pashto through Rosetta Stone. I met somebody from Swat, he was about 60 years old, and he told me in Swat he was taught how to read and write in Pashto.

Yes I agree that literature is very important for any language but the use of language in offices, media(both print and electronic), business, international relations is now a days of paramount importance. Pashto has vast literature and very rich in especially in poetry but its use in daily life is limited that's why very few people are compelled to learn it and its books has no sale and purchase market.

Now a days we have very less development in literary English but its importance as a language is anybody's guess. Now English does not have people like Shakespeare, Wordsworth and Dickens but because of its practical and functional significance its rules over the world. Pashto should at least rule over Afghanistan and the Pashto speaking areas of Pakistan.

forgive my ignorance but isnt that just agreeing with my former analysis that tajiks or farsi dari peoples are not ethnic afghans, this is what you are implying as well no? thing is, try telling a tajik, uzbek, hazara etc born and raised in afghanistan that they are not a ethnic afghan, they will not accept. If they are ethnic Afghans then the terminology of Afghan/Afghani being synonymous with Pashtun and solely defining Pashto actually mean nothing and make no sense, you cant have both its either one thing or another, its not logical to say the term Afghan implies specifically to pashtuns when clearly it is not. i'l try explain in another way if what im saying is not understood.

Did you read my previous posts Manzareh? With all due respect, I feel like I am continuously repeating myself. A Turk who is born in Germany, is a German national, he considers himself a German national, but is not ethnically German.

                  I gave many examples, etc.

Thank you. I have to get going, so I might take longer to respond wrora.

I see..thats what im saying aswel, in your example the turk is not a ethnic german but only a german national, in the same way a tajik or farsi, dari brother is not a ethnic afghan but only a afghan national. the confusion is that the ethnicity and the nationality are both called Afghan.

                    will speak later then bro.

The case of Persian in our context and languages like Spanish, Italian, russian, Arabic, Chinese, French, German in global context is not the way you described. I visited Iran and found every thing in Persian. I do not think that in coming 200 years English will be able to replace Persian. Even in Tajikistan everything is in Tajik Persian. The Persian speaking Afghans even used to write Persian on their sign boards of shops in Peshawar while the Pashtuns still uses other languages.

During my visits to other countries I find very less people who understand English. In Spain and the whole South and Central America you may not find a single English newspaper or tv channel. Everything in Spanish. The same is the case in French speaking world.

The only dismal position in this whole context of Pashto language which is not used anywhere officially except Kandahar and few other places in Afghanistan.

But it is. All the signs in the bazzar are in pashto. Everyone speaks Pashto, even the Tajiks that live there.
Higher learning is different. They teach medicine in English because there is no literature in pashto. What do you want pashtuns to do, not learn medicine.

These claims are just to turn gullible Pashtuns into proud stupid morons.

Alexander took the lands easily, he even shared the women of those lands amongst his men with ease and no difficulty....the same way Wealthy Punjabis buy Pashtun women as second wives in Pakistan...yes it does happen...

All this talk about brave that and brave this, show me where a brave Pashtun is eh? blowing up girls schools and throwing acid of innocent girls in Afghanistan?

Every empire took Afghanistan with ease, the only reason they left was due to the fact it was difficult to control as the people are hell bent on tribalism and waste their time fighting one another.

You really think the British did not divide or defeat Pashtuns? they divided them easily, Durrand line..............they overthrew King Amanullah easily just by showing pictures of Queen Soraya shaking hands with German officials..........................KHOOBINA MA KASEY lol!
