Please , when you lie, learn to lie.

im from Paktya and they are the first pactyans (pashtuns) to be known in history and they talk all pashtu alhamdulillah or both like in Gardez we use to learn pashtu but we also learned dari.
High achievement always takes place in the framework of high expectation.

Yes i'm revert and no i'm not Pakistani but I do have pakistani family yes.
Hes not my fiance, he's my husband. He's from pashtunland not the west. But he does put Islam over his culture Alhamdulillah. My concern was not about him or even about his family. More about living there and teaching my children what is correct.
          Thanks again
you are welcome. May I ask what area you will be living in, KP or Sindh, PAnjab?
But to continue since I was not aware you were going to live in PAkistan. Pashtuns love Islam, but sometimes pashtuns especially the rural ones are forced to trump pashtunwali code over Islam because of survival instinct. In Islam, an Islamic court would handle disputes and there would be an authoratative body to enforce the courts decision. In rural pashtunland, pashtunwali code is the law and the enforcement is done by the families themselves since their is no central authority. If you are going to live in an urban center like peshawar, then you would have courts and police that enforce the courts decisions.
One thing I can tell you is that you will have alot of support. Be assertive with people but dont be aggressive or passive. They will respect you more if you are assertive.

Amatullah if you are not living in pashtun land then dont bother asking questions about revenge and other stuff. Just lead a happy life with your husband and dont bother about stuff that should'nt be your concern.

Pardon me, i mistook 'revert' for 'convert'....my english is weak. I thought is very rude and unnecessary of a 'convert' to deeply question cultural background of her husband.
Khushal gave you answers in best possible way, nothing left to explain it further. But i would throw some further light on female education in Pashtuns. There is no concept of female education in rural pashtun areas but in urban centres educated pashtun families send their daughters to school and colleges. It is not possible that a Pashtun docter, engineer or professor would deny his daughters education. Some exceptions are there in case of few rural pashtuns. The areas where tradional pashtun tribal framework is in fractured state and rapid development is taking place. The two best examples would be swat and karak where female literacy ratio is exceptional...

But both urban or rural , educated or uneducated follow same pattren e.g educated females are not allowed to work in every profession.. They are not allowed to work in offices , as nurse , air hostess etc. As for as i know pashtuns allow their females to work in only two fields. Teaching and doctery..these two are only considered respectable fields...

                      Amatullah,

                      Your husband sounds VERY SMART.
If only he can appear on PF and do excellent verbal combat
with all the sleazes here, like above, ahem.

You sound as though you were brought up in a Western country.
Anything else you care to explain about your background?
Everyone I'm sure would like to hear if you feel like filling out any more detail.

                      Afghanistan2010,
Wonderful ! Thanks, I will look forward to hearing if you can track down the book. It's difficult after years pass, I know, to remember the title.
It sounds very unique, and fun to read if it can be dug up.
Without the title it's so difficult though.

Khushal, that's a nice avatar of the Michauds' classic picture from their
travels in Afghanistan. For anyone who doesn't know,
Roland and Sabrina Michaud are a husband and wife team from France
who did, in my opinion, by FAR and away, the BEST photography in Afghanistan pre-Soviet war [and probably
ever after !]. They have an unrivaled feel for the people and the land.
No American photographer got anywhere near them.

They also did National Geographic articles on Hunza and environs, and
                      the Wakhi as well.

I will sincerely advise you to comprehend the sphere of influence of both Islam and Pashtunwali. Both are mutually exclusive.

Islam is just your religion which determines your supernatural beliefs in God, prophets, angels, hereafter then your modes of worship as salat, zakt, ramadan and hajj(the pillars of Islam) and your religious morality. Nothing more than that.
While Pashtunwali determines your culture , society and some aspects of politics.

Your dress is not determined by Islam. Islam and Arab culture or society are two different things. Wear the way you wish or according to the climate, society and situation. Be Pashtun by your habits, behaviour, character and be Muslim by your beliefs, worship and ethics.
