    3.
Killing happens quick in every society of life and in every country and some are even by mistake and others have different reasons but verily its a huge crime when you kill someone innocents.

The Revenge scenario will remain until it is solved by other tribes or tribal leaders the issue, they will kill your family member and yours their but if some are knowledgable they will turn the situation into something good as fast as possible.

    4.
This is a major error in our culture,it is fard'ayn on women and men to seek education (verily the first verse to be revealed was : Iqra ( read) , read in the name of your lord....) it shows the importance of education.

But it has dramatically changed in the last 10 years,i have seen from waziristan to mazere sharif women and men being educated equally, and there are no attacks on schools except on those schools inside pakistan who teach nothing more than kuffar pure kuffar and alhamdulillah they are bombed or burned down by people of Haqq.

Every parents decide for their children how and where to seek education, but if the whole tribe refuses to sent their children to schools or girls it is in your hand to decide if you are strong enough and stand against the tribe you can sent and if they say anything against you seek help from Allah and his soldiers, but i doubt they will stop you if they are not stupid.

end ...wasalam your brother in islam

You must realise that only about 30% of Pashtuns population is literate, te ones that are strict muslims don't even know a singel word what they are reading in the quran or what is the meaning of the prayers that they do ( personal expireince) not everyone but the majority don't know. That's way there is a lot of bakwardness in our society, its just some don't know anybetter. Only after years of education and peace this sort of practises will dissapear. And somebody must translate Quran in Pashtu. Becuase I can't find any translation in to pashtu, or you can finde it in Afghanistan?

        please ignore this troll
he has tons of accounts on this site.

most what he alwasy says are lies.

Pashtuns are naturally muslims and i advise you to follow the Quran and no Pashtun society is not backward just some people think wearing pants make you look intelligent and wearing a turban makes you backward.
these people are are mostly not inspired by Islam rather by fake type of nationalism which we cant even call true nationalism because they support the invasion of their supposed country and demonising muslims.

          Good explanations, Afg2010 and GYE.

Aft 2010, do you think you could find the exact title of that book?
I checked and didn't find any listing under that phrase.

What era was it from, did you read it yourself? Or heard of it?

It's a rarity, that's why I am curious. I will see if I can locate it
if I have a closer title from which to work.

Do you remember which country the Western woman was from and
          was it written in English?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to better pinpoint.
          Thanks !

And Amatullah thanking his post shows me what kind of person you are, saing that some of the practise of your inlaw family looks jahil, meybe you are allso a jahil persoon yourself.

              walakum wa salam,

revert? so are you pakistani. you have pakistani family but you are not?
              Im confused here.
Now just to clarify I am not willing to follow any culture, Islam will always be the only thing I will submit to and follow. But I do think it is essential for me to understand what I can about my husbands background and my inlaws insh'Allah so i can educate myself and any future children insh'Allah. After all they will be counted as pashtuns even though Im not. And in the near future I will be making hijra insh'Allah.
did your fiance grow up in the west or in pashtunland. I ask because his mentality will be different. Most pashtun trumps the pashtun code over Islam.

              Some issues i'm having or to word it better some things i'm not understanding are as follows;

              1. The amount of violence and gun usage (not refering to any groups but people and families in general)
I dont find violance in pashtun culture so you are going to have to give me examples. On the contrary we very hospitable, but at the same time we dont allow others to walk all over us. Weapons are sacred to the pashtuns. defending oneself, property, women, family is sacred to pashtuns. The main thing you have to recognize is that pashtuns are a tribal society.
This is the main difference. If your going to grab some books, find some books that explain how tribal societies differ from feudal or industrial societies.
              2. Why revenge is so important and plays such a huge role in the community. Surely we are muslims and Allah swt will justly rule among us on the Day
revenge is important because if it is not taken it is considered a sign of weakness. Others will run you over if they think there is no punishment for wronging you. It is telling rivals that if a wrong is done to the family, punishment will follow. It is like the US spending horrendous amount of resources to hunt down Osama, they are letting their rivals know that they will never give up until they get their justice.
Unlike Panjabis or Sindhis, Pashtuns are a tribal people, central authority is not recognized so people take actions into their own hands.
              3. What exactly happens when someone is killed in a family, will there be an ongoing revenge from it?
When someone is killed in the family, the family has to correct it. There is usually a sit down by the different parties with a mediator. The wronged party will demand compensation, if compensation is not given, then they must act and kill a male member of the other party. They only target males, and females are left alone. One thing a female has to watch out for is, if someone is killed, the victims family sometimes will demand an unwed female member as a bride for one of their male members. This mostly happens with rural pashtuns and not urban pashtuns. With urban pashtuns, the compensation is usually taken care of with money.

              4. Why women aren't getting proper education and some of their Islamic rights taken away from them?
most pashtuns want thier women protected from harm. Pashtuns are under the impression that education is dangerous to their way of life. Pashtuns view government schools as central authority which they naturally reject that is why you see news report of people burning schools in rural afghanistan and FATA. The only schools they leave alone are the madrassas which they dont view as dangerous to their way of life.

haha astugfirullah you silly little person. Accusing me when you don't even know me? Thats going to look great on your book of deeds. Accusing a muslim of kufr? Do you know what implications that has??? lol i'd advise you to seek refuge and repent.
So what if i liked his comment. I seen that as the brother looking out for me. And never once did I mention my inlaws, I was talking about the pashtun culture in general. You need to check yourself.

Hes not my fiance, he's my husband. He's from pashtunland not the west. But he does put Islam over his culture Alhamdulillah. My concern was not about him or even about his family. More about living there and teaching my children what is correct.
