Give this Scythian man a thick facial beard and he looks like an ordinary Pashtun. Do you think that Pashtuns came out of nowhere, or are you a follower of the Israelite theory?
He looks more like Sean Penn than any Pashtun I've met.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

Ok. But you also think that Pashtuns are 40% South Indian.

The Scythian doesnt look like any Pathan I have ever seen...he looks too Western/eastern mixed european.

Bactrians are said to be ancestors of the Tazis and you say they unified with other groups to form the Pathan where does that leave the Tazis?

Can you send me a link to the "Tazi" people group. Only found results for Afghan Hounds when searching for them.

Yes, for all practical purposes, Pashtuns are a group of unified Eastern Iranic tribes. Sakas, Hepthalites, Kushans, Bactrians are a part of that group. Pashtuns couldn't have just popped out of nowhere, eh? And if you disagree, what is your opinion on Pashtuns' ancestry?

No one is arguing that Pashtuns "popped out of nowhere", we're arguing when Pashtuns actually became a discernable identity and from which enclave of people they may have came from. To say Pashtuns are "Saka, Hepthalites, Kushans and Bactrians" is still quite speculative, because the way you're describing it sounds as if they all got together, had a round table and decided to merge together to create a new ethnic identity. I'm sure that's not what you're suggesting and it's unlikely a scenario, but my point is there is no concrete evidence supporting this. There was probably some other intermiediary peoples Pashtuns derived from between, Saka, Kushans etc.

One reason this theory has many faults is because Hephtalites,. Saka, Kushans and Bactrians all have records about themselves and there are records between each other about the others. If Pashtuns were somehow derived from these people, there'd have to have been similar records, unless another explanation for the lack of early records can be found. Like say Pashtuns being a rebel clan of Bactrians who had to seek refuge elsewjere or Pashtuns started as a religious sect and they didn't keep records to break out of orthodoxy. etc etc. Note, I'm not making these claims, but just presenting hypothetical reasons why we fail to have sound ancient references about Pashtuns.

The first discerable evidence of Pashtuns points to between 800-1000 A.D. and this is based on outside references not Pashtuns themselves. Those references are often vague and scant.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

Wishful thinking. You want badly to relate yourself to those people just like Pakistanis and Indians want to relate themselves to Central Asians and Middle Easterns.

Pashtuns are a mix of several ethnic groups: eastern Aryans, Dravidians and Turkic tribes. Whether you like it or not you guys are not Bactrians nor Kushans nor Sakas.

Pashtuns lack of proper history so they make up all these fairy tails in order to feel better. Wake up.

Of course they didn't just decide to unify one day. Just as how the Angles, Jutes and Saxons didn't just decide to join together and form England. Pashtuns probably started out as one Eastern Iranic tribe, but through waves of conquests from similar Eastern Iranic groups, they gradually mixed.

DRAVIDIANS? Like ffs, control the bacha bazi bro. I have constantly proved how your people are over 60% Mongoloid and yet you still spew information from your rectum on how Tajiks are Persians. Live on in your fantasy world idiot.

"Pashtuns lack proper history..." To be honest you are the one with a lack of any history at all. I mean, why would you try so hard to pretend to be Persian?

                        Chill, sister, chill.

Indeed just like Tajiks are influenced by their Turkic neighbors same thing happens to Pashtuns with their Dravidian neighbors. Not all Pashtuns are Dravidian though just like not all Tajiks are Turkic.

Tajiks are the only the only ethnic group that can claim to be Bactrian. Please stop stealing our history and heritage lol

                        • Pashtuns origin is Hephthalite

This is the origin of where the Hephthalites came from:

ephthalites are believed to be among the ancestors of modern-day Pashtuns and in particular of the Abdali Pashtun tribe.[39] According to the academic Yu. V. Gankovsky,

The Pashtuns began as a union of largely East-Iranian tribes which became the initial ethnic stratum of the Pashtun ethnogenesis, dates from the middle of the first millennium CE and is connected with the dissolution of the Epthalite (White Huns) confederacy. [...] Of the contribution of the Epthalites (White Huns) to the ethnogenesis of the Pashtuns we find evidence in the ethnonym of the largest of the Pashtun tribe unions, the Abdali (Durrani after 1747) associated with the ethnic name of the Epthalites — Abdal. The Siah-posh, the Kafirs (Nuristanis) of the Hindu Kush, called all Pashtuns by a general name of Abdal still at the beginning of the 19th century.[40]

Why do Pashtun and Pathan tribes have Arabic names? I thought these tribes would be older than Islam...

We actually might be Sakas as they had a lifestyle that bore many similarities with Pashtuns, Bactrians and Kushans, probably not, as these were highly metropolitan cultures and Pashtuns had only become metropolitan recently.

Interesting to note my dad's family are from a branch called "Sakzai" but of course this isn't proof of anything, it's just something to note.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

Not all Pashtun tribes have that

for example Hotak, Kharotai, Tarakai are not found in any other language, but strangely they no known meanings in Pashto, so they might be Turkic

Abdali isn't Abd-Ali, it's Abdal, Abdal is an Arabic word, but some suggest it could have been a variation of Haital which was the ancient word for Hephtalite. I'm not keen on that theory though.

Abdal in Islamic Eschatology, refers to Abdal as righteous people in Sham (Syria)

The Prophet (saws) said, “At the end of time there will be a trial in which people will be sorted (fitnatul Duhaima) in a similar way to that in which gold is sorted from metal. Therefore do not rebuke the people of Syria rather, rebuke the evil people among them, because amongst them are the Abdals (Awliya). Allah will send a flood from Heaven (an event) that will disperse their groups in a way that if foxes were to attack them they would be victorious. Then Allah will send a man (to the people of syria) from the perfumed musked children of the Messenger, praise and peace be upon him, amongst approximately 12-15,000 under three banners and their password is ‘Die, die!’ And they will be fought by the people of 7 banners under each is a man seeking the kingdom (Syria). They will be killed, defeated, then the Hashimite (leader of the black flags) will appear, so Allah will restore unity and favors to the people and this will be the case until the Dajjaal (the lying, false messiah) comes.”

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."
