    بگوید بگوید به رندان خرابات
    گنهکار ببخشید به سلطان خرابات

Ahmad Zahir is a legend in Afghanistan and has many fans till this inside and outside Afghanistan.

He was also a relative of mine and his Uncle and cousins live in USA. I advice forumers to stop changing peoples identity and stop labeling people without any facts and proof.

I am a huge fan of his. I have hundreds and hundreds of his tracks. Both in cassettes and cds. They are his recorded tracks, the concert ones, and ones that were taped after his death.

Long live the King of Afghanistan.

His father and my maternal grandfather knew one another. While his father was serving his position as Prime Minister, my grandfather knew him because of army relations.

I wish blessed Ahmad Zahir was still alive. I am sure his voice would have stayed strong. If i could ever go back in time, i would have wanted to go to all his concerts

Many people still remember him and so far no one has come so close to him. Although, I'm a fan of Farhad Darya and like his music more than Ahmad Zahir, I have to admit he is no where close to him in talent and voice.

Interesting fact many may not know, but his father was against him singing, but he continued to live his dream and it brought him fame but at the end it took his life.

Yes, no one, not no one has ever came close to his wonderful talent.

Yes, you are truly right that his father was completely against his sons singing.

Here is a story i will share.

When Ahmad Zahir was newly singing. He didnt want his name to be spread simply because he didnt want his family knowing, especially his father. Since it was a sign of sharam and disrespect to his respectful family. It was a matter of family name, social status, ehtaram and ghairat.

So for a long time, Ahmad's father was not aware that his son was singing, making tapes, and being broadcasted on the radio.

One day his father was sitting at home, listening to the radio. Then he heard a wonderful song, being sung by a voice he fell in love with. He said, who ever is this man, has an angel voice. He said this not knowing it was his own son.

I've heard many interesting stories about him as well from his uncle "Qayoum" and his cousins who are currently living in US as well.

Also his first name is Toryalia.

Yes, that is his real name. Ahmad Toryalai Zahir Kakar. He has a sister in Washington. Who has a gallery of his photos.

                    There is another story.

One day Ahmad's father was walking in Kabul. This time he knew of his son's passion. Some one came and pointed at him and in Dari said 'There goes Ahmad Zahir's father.' It brought great shame to his father. Not because of what his son was doing, but because of someone came up to him and referred him 'as his sons father.' That was a great shame to him. Back home, if you are referred to by as your sons father, its disrespectful. Especially if you are a Qazi or some other high power. I heard a little bit after that, his father kicked him out or something like that.

There are many stories said and rumoured, but no his father had never kicked him out of home. In fact he loved his son a lot and they were far more closer than seen. His uncle tried many times to change his mind about singing, but singing was his passion so they had no choice, but to give in to his dream. Next time I see his cousin I will make sure he tells me about more about him and his relationship with his dad.

I understand you are Kakar and I am also Kakar but I dont speak Pashtu well.
In my province there are thousands of Kakars, Noorzais, Yousofzais,Barakzais who dont speak Pashtu but they are proud Pashtuns.
I have noticed something in among PF members that anyone who doesnt speak pashtu isnt pashtun and all other bull****.
Ahmad Zahir was pashtun and he was never against Pashtuns.
I think its that he had more songs in Dari that makes some of you feel delouse and label him Persian!
There are millions of Pashtuns who dont speak Pashtu as there native languge but they would tear your mouth if you call them non Pashtuns.
Keep that in mind when you visit here.
                          good luck

You know what else is a lot more important than being a pukhtoon afghan or a good muslim for that matter? Being a good human being. You can pray 5 times a day and be a rapist or a pashtoon with very low moral standards not knowing anything about pashto or your own self but you cant be a good person and displease anything you believe in.

Its supposed to lead you that way but the choice depends on the person himself. I know lots of pukhtoons who are proud of themselves , speak pure pashto and dress it to but are as useless as magots. I could give you examples from this very forum..
