My mom told me the day of Ahmad Zahir's funeral, everyone attended. Schools were out, people all the way from Laghman (his hometown) came. I think Ahmad Zahir overall gave people a sense of hope in their heart while struggling through the Soviet invasion.
Till today, his grave is visited by so many people. People from all over the world come to his grave. I visited his grave twice. Both times it was filled with flowers. Both times i saw at least 3 people paying their respects before/after visiting the zyraat there. His zyraat is filled of messages from his fans. I myself wrote a message there too.
There's an interesting story of when he came to our city once, he gave 2 main concerts there and he obviously got paid in cash those days, he also gave a few majlisi performances in peoples private parties, the last of which was our place, and was paid in cash there too.
The next day before he was on his way back to Kabul by car, he and his band members asked to visit a famous mosque in my city for ziyarat (now the afghans on this board will know from which city i hail from lol) so he went there with his band members and 100,000 or so afghanis in cash with him... he was swamped by kids and beggers...the man literally gave away EVERY SINGLE AFGHANI of his...to the extent where he had to borrow money to fund his trip back to Kabul!! LOLL
In memory of this once in a life time artist/personality. roash shad baad va yadesh hamisha bakhair!

i don't care for who he was and what he did asides from singing or whatever type of a character he had.. i like his music and nothing will change that for me.
I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.
non commercial would cost less if he was in charge himself which he plans on doing. right now it's n herat but soon it will be in qanadahar.

And still, just out of pure jealousy, Afghans just won't stop insulting his personality.
