grana wrora pashtun has nothing against him of speaking pashto or dari, he did compose many songs in pashto, most of the rahim ghamzadah old songs were composed by ahmad zahir, ahmad zahir does have few songs in pashto. just visit a parsiwans forums you will see yourself all those weird posts. there are many pashtun singers who dont have many pashto songs, they preffered to sing in dari. if you are related to him you must know his tribe, if you dont mind sharing with us.

I personally don't know. I was once told that Abdul Zahir Kakar was recorded but, some say they were Safi, since these tribes are notorious for speaking only Pashtu, I am very sure Ahmad Zahir could be summed as Pashtun, as this article points out "He also reflects an Afghanistan that was far less ethnically polarized than it is today. An ethnic Pashtun who sang mostly in Dari, he won fans in all ethnic groups." NY times at Kabul Journal - The Afghan Elvis 'Lives' 24 Years After His Death - NYTimes.com, also according to Nabel Miskinyar owner of Ariana Television also considered Zahir to be a Pashtun from both sides of his Parents. Therefore leaving no other choice other than being Pashtun, besides back in old days I mean his father Dr. Abdul Zahir Khan born in 1910 in laghaman was grew up in Kabul, and since Kabulis are dominated Dari speakers, he too was influenced as to considered "Farsiwan", as I mention above many Pashtu speaking willing accepted Dari, and besides back then Languages were not important, and that majority of people who in high positions were all considered themselves to be Afghan, and just after creation of Pakistan.Originally posted by afghan View Postgrana wrora pashtun has nothing against him of speaking pashto or dari, he did compose many songs in pashto, most of the rahim ghamzadah old songs were composed by ahmad zahir, ahmad zahir does have few songs in pashto. just visit a parsiwans forums you will see yourself all those weird posts. there are many pashtun singers who dont have many pashto songs, they preffered to sing in dari. if you are related to him you must know his tribe, if you dont mind sharing with us.
Afghan nationalism on rise as well as giving birth to Pashtun nationalism gain its fame and since then high officials in the Afghan government was under pressure in not doing enough in promoting "Pashtu" Which is Why Duad kicked out drunk Zahir Shah (Sorry guys I hate him) and placed himself, he went on further trying to confront the realities that Pakistan was strong and that natives of Afghanistan are majority Dari in tongue and 47% pashtu by Language won't help his argument, therefore he further supported Pashtu language. He was first King Ever who actually did something that Afghan rulers never did for the past 1000 years, all of them supported "Dari" and therefore Pashtuns can thank him for the next 1000 years. He was by all means the father of Pashtunization, because he believed that Language was very important. This is a fact and you should thank Daud who also changed the Education system, specially the number of Books printed in Pashtu was all during his time.
Anyways Afghan this was my point in my post number 28, that Pashtu speakers as well as Toramana as being Pashtu speaker/Pashtun was more interested in his Last name, or some sort of indication of being Pashtun, otherwise you people reject others. This is wrong, generalizing people based on languages, is wrong.Last edited by Nick; 08-08-2010, 03:10 AM.Happy Ramadan everyone. He was a pashtun, and from what I know from a very well known Pashtun family (his father was ex-PM of Afghanistan). I doubt he was anti-pashtun, and there is no proof for it saiba. Plus, it is beside the point, he was a famous and a talented musician.Originally posted by Toramana View PostHe was a non-Pashtun linguistically and culturally (didn't speak Pashto). In Afghanistan, a number of non-Pashtuns claimed Pashtun descent to seek ethnic affinity with the ruling royal family. Babrak Karmal was another famous personality that even though was a Tajak but claimed to be a Pashtun to win favor of the Pashtun majority.
