^ I have traveled ALL over Southern India, and
there isn't ANYTHING so remarkable there.
The architecture is merely OK.
There IS, however, a lot of degenerate, vulgar sculpture
adorning temples.
It's supposed to be "holy", but no one buys that.
The Muslim monuments show far more beauty, elegance as well as : good taste in
morals.
Who would even travel to India, if it weren't for the Taj Mahal?
It is the major magnet for foreigners around the world to see.
After that, they go back to Delhi and fly out of the country !
A few do visit Fatephur Sikri, Akbar's amazing entire city built
[by himself as well as the laborers !], and his tomb at Sikandra.
But little else is of interest to anyone but specialist students of
South India.
So Asad 71 is right.
A few exceptions, though : Lord Curzon, the famous British Viceroy, undertook
to restore the tomb of Akbar which had fallen into disrepair, along with all the
other great Moghul monuments.
Yeah, that was where the inscription was, thank you, I haven't thought of all
this in a long time.
To the person who rolling on the floor laughing, Aurangzeb placed RESTRICTIONS
on Hindus, and Christians were not given a huge welcome by any of the Moghul rulers but Akbar, who even then distrusted them immensely but
put up a good show of receptivity probably for reasons of diplomacy regarding
dealings with European nations.
But neither were taken out and killed or horribly mistreated the way
evil fundamentalist Hindus have done to those who consecrated themselves
as Catholic religious [priests, nuns]. It's BEYOND OUTRAGEOUS.
Yet the West is totally deaf to this terrible peril that their own
co-religionists face from Hindus in supposedly "democratic" INdia.
Hakim Khan Urguni, you should be proud that your
ancestors came from Urgun! Good area, indeed.
