I am from a different Hotak lineage, but the merits of Mir Wais Khan Hotak cannot be disregarded, try as some may to discredit him. Mir Wais Khan reflected true nobility and honor against a corrupt decadent ruler, If the Persians had been truly for the cause of Islam, I believe Mir Wais would never have revolted. But because they wanted to promote lies and Safawid Corruptions; Mir Wais had no other choices but to over run them and disband their corrupt rule.

Interesting. I don't know ANY of this history.

Which ruler was rebelled against? The Safavid Shah?
Or more likely, the local representative in Afghanistan.

I'll have to watch the films, but it may not be clear there either without subtitles.

originally Gurgin Khan, who was as you said the Safawid Wazir assigned to Qandahar; but eventually the entire Safawid Empire.

              thats pashtun mentality
since the safavids said they were about Islam pashtuns let them rule the area as long as they kept away from pashtuns and their pashtunwali system of governance.
than the safavids brought a georgian named gurgin to rule our people ,this guy was a drunk and corrupt individual.once he sent a his army to collect tax and when one house couldnt pay he took an Afghan/pashtun woman to their castle and thats when it all started.she commited suicide by jumping off the building before they could rape her/other reason being safavids tried to convert pashtuns to shiasm.mirwais Neeka with some together with a persian government official made plans to get rid of the safavid all together.
he went to the king and promised him some of the finest pashtun warriors to guard his palace, and when the time was right the guards executed all the safavid soldiers and took gurgin as prisoner.
they sent another army from their capital in isfahan to curb the pashtun but they again faced defeat.

safavids were an empire created after the shias took over iran, before that iran was a sunni country with famous and very smart people.

safavids had taken over Afghanistan claiming they were the so called muslim brothers so afghans let them ther but than ....read my other comment to the brother.

I don't think the Safawids tried to necessarily convert Pashtoons to Shi'ism; as the doctrine the Safawids followed was not the mainstream current of Shi'ism but was associated with the Qizilbash Theological Schools of the Time. That's what they were trying ti promote.

By the way although I acknowledge Mir Wais Khan was Sunni in doctrine; I believe in the disbanding of Sunni and Shi'ite doctrines entirely. Just my two cents.

                      they were twelver shias
and some of the most extremist forms of shiasm.
they did try to convert pashtuns to shiamsm in qandahar as they have converted persians to shiasm and they still do.

They were Ithna 'Ashari ; but they're 'Qizilbash" which was a deviation from the standard Ithna 'Ashari few points.

Most Traditional Shi'i considered them "Ghul'ah" meaning exaggerated in Arabic.

pointless talking 2 him abt shias... he is just a bigot who can only hate... he doesnt knw shia faith or the various sects which claim 2 be shia 2 him they are all shia... when his sunni scholars can teach him how to pray correctly then ill listen 2 him... sunnis cant even agree abt that how can u expect them 2 knw differences in shia
