Note: While engaging in discussions, resorting to personal attacks, assumptions about beliefs and judgment about another members practice should never be an option. Present your opinion, argument or rebuttal and leave it at that. These are merely discussions on an online platform so we should be mindful of our approach which may be different otherwise. I am hopeful that this is understood.

lol Sangar, what do you take me for, some brat? Do you think I don't/didn't know about the position of the Salafi scholars on this ritual as opposed to those of the Barelvis? It's a senseless ritual but it's a ritual in this part of the world nonetheless and I didn't wanna forgo it on the grounds that the book I'm holding above my sister's head gives her husband the green light to physically assault her.

Furthermore, customs and rituals have no relation to rational decisions. How can you come to that conclusion? Belief is beyond customary practices and if anything, ritualistic worship and other acts of 'submission', whether approved or disapproved by your favorite clergy, only expose the silliness of organized religions. Now if you can excuse me, I must go out and find some stones for the Imam's after-drops, he ran out of them last night.

Next time, at least try and make sense.
"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be".

"Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives".

So, which one is it going to be: urine that has 1% milk in it, or milk that has 1% urine in it?

Islam will prevail, a promise made by the Creator of this universe:

[61:8] They desire to extinguish the light of Allah with the breath of their mouths, but Allah will perfect His light, even if the disbelievers hate it.

[61:9] He it is Who has sent His Messenger with the guidance and the Religion of truth, that He may cause it to prevail over all religions, even if those who associate partners with God hate it.

Because it had nothing to do with your assumption. I love our traditions and I stand by that statement. Drinking alcohol and dancing half naked in front of men isn't part of our traditions, if that's what you're alluding to.

No, Momin wrora, I am not asking you to respect me because I am a moderator; that's an unfair assumption. I am asking you to respect me because I am your sister in Islam and the way you approached does not correspond with proper Islamic conduct. I gave you absolutely no reason in my posts to attack me like that and to speak to me in such a tone and if you're going to send your respect down the drain for the heck of it, go ahead.

              Dearest Mayana Khore,

thank you for clarifying your stance, on both issues.

I have always respected you. I hit the breaks when I saw that post of yours demanding a different tone. I asked myself: "what tone? I am trying to show how we are disrespecting the Quran, and I am being told to watch my tone? The heck with honour!"

My whole approach, as far as I am concerned, was not to attack you. I simply saw the contradiction in your post and presented a scenario where percentages could be used.

My love for the Quran and Islam is beyond peoples' imagination. But this approach of our culture is so stupid. Don't forget that the Pashtun existed before Islam. Therefore, we as Pashtun must choose one or the other, not pick and choose.

If the Quran itself, as in a book, would suffice into bring change in a human being, without practicing its commandments, then every Muslim should be the top notch of everything. However, that is not the case. The Quran exists in every Muslim country, in every household, yet they are suffering the most, on all levels, today. Why? Because it is the practice that matters, not simply kissing the Quran and tada, God is happy with us. If that was the case then Muslim countries should be the most prosperous today. Hence, we need to learn to not treat the Quran as a magic marker and start purifying ourselves by practicing what it is commanding us to do.

I don't believe that the Quran being present is going to make a difference in a gathering where filth exists. It might seem as a good tool to fool the conscience, but it is only a placebo effect.

Again, thank you for clarifying yourself. Please forgive me for misunderstanding you.

Come on man... we already discussed that.

Anyways, my bid'ah will not result in any beheading, your bid'ah, oh well...

Never support zealotry, I have learned that the hard way. Zealots are blind, arrogant and only see in one direction. If you end up being caught in their way, they'll disregard you, or anything that you expect from them (such as respect) just to save their misguided pride.

Narcissists, are one step away from psychopaths. Remember that.

Actually our discussion was never over. I just did not have the time to post. If you want we can open a thread and discuss it in detail, I am up for it. I am pretty sure that members would enjoy our discussion because you are a rare commodity, you know how to carry yourself in a civil manner.

With rest of your post, I agree. But Sangar has a special spot in my heart. His love for Islam, albeit misguided, is sincere and honest. Insha Allah, he will change, for the better.

Quran doesnt protect somebody said....its the veres that we read from the Quran for protection....also on the day of judgment, when the sun is going to be just above our heads.. its the Quran which is going to cover us from the sun.....

its the Quran that is going to be by your side when we will be buried and left alone in our graves...

so why not walk down the aisle with the Quran over the head??????????

If we did not have to follow the sunnah of the Prophet (saw) as a must in Islam, then anything goes. One can literally create infinite possibilities, because one can interpret anything according to one's whims.

However, because of the fact that we are bound by the sunnah, therefore, we must limit our imagination when it comes to what is right and what is wrong.

That said, our kalimah is: La ilaha illallahu muhammadur rasulullah. Our kalima is not: La ilaha illallahu "whatever i think" rasulullah.

Therefore, did the Prophet (saw) ever, or commanded anyone to ever, walk under the Quran, for whatever reason?

                          NO!

It should not, but Afghan weddings are as such.

Quranic verses are not magic markers. They are meant to be pondered upon and acted upon.

I don't know where you got this from, but assuming you are right. Then, yes, this is metaphorical, meaning that if you practiced what the Quran said you will be protected.

Hmmm...again, I don't know where you got this from, but let us assume that it is right. Then, it can only mean that you will be judged by the Quran and it will bear a witness against you.

I have never seen anyone be buried with the Quran.

The rest of your logic is wrong, your premise is shaky, therefore, by definition this is a wrong conclusion, assumption.

Are we discussing whether it is wrong to have a Qur'an at a wedding or whether it is wrong to have "filth" at weddings?

The latter is wrong, but that doesn't make the first wrong, does it?
If I'm going to have a disco as a wedding, sure, I shouldn't have the Quran there. But does that mean that I shouldn't have the Quran there under any circumstances? What we're saying here is that the way some weddings are organized is unislamic, however, that doesn't give us grounds to judge an unrelated factor, such as the presence of a Quran.

                              In short:

                              Filth = bad
                              and
Filth at wedding + Qur'an at wedding = bad

                              does not mean

                              Qur'an at wedding = bad

Daa zma lewanay Zrra gorah, daa sta lewanee Mina..

                                No.

It means that the Quran should not be where filth is. You would not bring the Quran in the washroom.

Islamic weddings should not have filth, e.g. dancing, alcohol, inappropriate clothing, intermixing of sexes, associated with them.

Islamic weddings should be conducted the way the Prophet (saw) did it. Because it is an Islamic wedding, Islamic tradition should be followed. The Quran is the main symbol of Islam. A portion of the Quran should be recited at a wedding, before beginning the evening. People should not be walking under the Quran, for it was not the practice of the Prophet (saw), even at a wedding where dancing, alcohol, etc., is not involved.

If you are not going to have an Islamic wedding, then don't bring the Quran there.
Islam will prevail, a promise made by the Creator of this universe:

[61:8] They desire to extinguish the light of Allah with the breath of their mouths, but Allah will perfect His light, even if the disbelievers hate it.
