If something is considered Bid'ah it is so because its an expression of worship which is not based on evidence from the quran or the sunnah. But rather is a contradiction to the teachings of Islam. Therefore when something is deemed as bid'ah then it is by definition harmful. Because Islam prohibits any acts of worship which is not in our Shariah.
As the prophet sal allahu alayhi wasallam said:
فإن أصدق الحديث كلام الله تعالى ، وخير الهدي هدي محمد صلي الله عليه وعلى آله وصحبه وسلم ، وشر الأمور محدثاتها ، وكل محدثة بدعة وكل بدعة ضلالة ، وكل ضلالة في النار
The most truthful speech is that of Allah’s Book [the Qur’aan] and that the best of guidance is that of Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم), The worst of evils are the muhdathaat (newly-invented matters [in the deen], and every innovated matter (in the deen) is a bid ‘ah; every bida’ah is a dalaalah (misguidance), and every dalaalah is the Fire of Hell.
Is it a harmful, demeaning or disrespectful act?
We know that the Quran is sacred
that is why we have to be clean before we can touch it
, and it just so happens that for some to kiss the Quran and place it between their eyes is a way of showing that.
So bring evidence in support of this act. If you find evidence for that, then you must likewise have evidence for carrying quran on top of a bride and a grooms head. If you cant, then humble yourself and dont issue fatwas and make your own takhrij and ijtihad.
They are not worshiping the Quran, talking to the Quran, or asking the Quran for anything.
It is their way of showing respect.
Because if these people had respect for quran and knew its true value, they would have changed their ways and denounce their evil customs of mixed weddings, drinking, dancing wearing revealing clothes and immitating the kuffaar!
I don't see a problem with that.
That is if you dance and listen to immoral music, and are mixing around, than you have an argument.
Though traditionally, our people didn't/don't do that.
If some one has the common sense to consider this an "improper" act, yet they go on to have music and dancing at their wedding, is a bit hypocritical don't you think? Like a drunk asking for a halal meal.
I seek refuge from women of today... have you read DaZahroJam posts?
