In dentists' offices at least here in the U.S., they often have TV sets glaring down at you from the ceiling, playing stupid programs away while you get your teeth cleaned.

Because the influence is so bad from all the negative energy showering down into your brain, the first thing I do upon arrival is request that the set be turned off.

Best to discuss your teeth with the dental hygienist or ask questions about trends in the dental profession, or anything CONSTRUCTIVE.

It's all useful as opposed to this horrible bombardment with Rays of Nothingness which is almost the only thing a TV program does.

Or chat with the person, if a nice type. Or use the time to pray.

We have lost too much of people to people contact and become deadened by those harmful vibrations of TV and ...video games...!

Hi Shlombey, [I'm misspelling deliberately like the old Ottoman term for a nobility: Bey!]

The only time in history I have had a TV for more than a week was when a friend had to rush back to the Czech Republic and had someone deliver to my apartment his TV and VCR.
So I just used the VCR very occasionally. But NEVER NEVER NEVER ! the TV by itself. ICK!
Just an aside, I keep finding old VCR cassettes such as one that showed up the other day labeled "Afghanistan Invaded".

It isn't my writing; I haven't seen it yet. But how IRONIC that the VCR cassette was about the LAST invasion and here we are with a completely different invader at this juncture.

I used to watch neat old classic movies such as Akbar the Great, Nur Jahan, Shah Jehan, etc. And the NICE good American movies of earlier decades. After 1960 they got terrible. Only a few good ones. Loretta Young's were usually better caliber.

But I still never watched MUCH. Why? Because you can learn so much more of use from books. The historical movies are usually WAY OFF the real truth. They are fun, but it's still unreality. Better to find the real truth by for example reading. But you have to sift through the billions of books with which we are all also bombarded with in order to get those few which get the real truth.

Best of all is to actually go see for yourself. That's what made me go to Afghanistan from the very first. I had taken a couple of trips around the world, gotten as far as the Khyber Pass but could not go through to Afghanistan. SO...I got on a plane, went to Peshawar and snuck in with Mujahideen.

I always had a healthy skepticism about media reports. I never trusted them. Now I thoroughly don't trust them. It's almost useless to read newspapers and magazines produced in America.

I found wherever I traveled, that local conditions were COMPLETELY different from what was being pushed by the media at home.

To sum up, my feeling is that it's best to trust in God's help and protection, and just take off and go see for oneself. Rather than to rely on the opinions of others. Certainly not the so-called experts in a field. They are usually ...BLAH at best !

Well I'm thrilled you're throwing out your TV ! Heaven will reward you surely. But also you may notice much sharper mind and ability to remember, for example.

For I believe that all this proliferation of things like ADD and all the way to Alzheimers is due to this slowing down of the wavelengths of one's spiritual mind and physical brain too into mush !

We all living over here have to fight this on a daily and hourly basis !

About spare time, I will answer that more but this is getting too long, I think.

                        What's your favorite movie, Spogmai?

OLD movies are the ONLY good ones.

It's dangerous to the purity of one's eyes and soul to watch almost any made in these decades now.

Hollywood and TV too have for some while been either manipulated behind the scenes or now outwardly run by homosexual or pro-homosexual type people.

It's horrific to tie one's mind into THEIR programs. Even for a single minute!
One can lose what I call spiritual brain cells! Never worth it.

Those old movies, though, always taught good lessons. There was a clear line drawn between good and evil. The good man or woman always won, teaching generations to be good, not bad.

These decades now, this paradigm is turned the other way: wicked behavior is exalted as "cool". Good people are never shown as a model for youth, or for any viewers.

So who could be surprised that the entire American society has sunk to such bad levels with most of the population watching this stuff on TV and movies which comes out of the minds of demons?!

i don't know how to use the remote control. i nearly went crazy last time when my family went to toronto to visit my uncle. so you read a book and browse the net for a while..visit a friend and then go grocery shopping....then what???!

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

non commercial would cost less if he was in charge himself which he plans on doing. right now it's n herat but soon it will be in qanadahar.

in my home (dubai) one tv. used for news. no movie package, no discovery channel, no comedy, only arabic, farsi tv shows, RT, jazeera etc and unfortunately CNN BBC.
in afghanistan no tv in our home [we are conservative]. only radio.

almost every one i knowin UAE has tv. when i visit UK, i notice people are absorbed into the unreality of [british/american] tv shows. their conversations have references to the events in tv shows. here in UAE too. then there are are people absorbed into indian dramas of ZTV. people are really connected to stories and characters, and cannot miss episodes. their rooms are arranged with biggest screen (50+) tv, its a kitchy pastiche of modern living, shamelessly sitting and watch shameless shows with their daughters, sons, mothers and wives, with jaws moving like a cow eating grass, but with chip doritos while sitting on their fat asses. beghairat.

i find this all very strange culture of dependence and addiction to fictional fantasies, to soul-nudity of shows where people openly cry, swear, insult thier tragically twisted family. no nudity here but equally lewd cultural behavioural norms in shows.

I remember when first TVs hit saudi arabia in late60s/early70s. there was a big debate if saudia should have tv or cinema. Malik Faisal was against tv and rumoured he said 'allow tv you allow all sort of indecency for all the family to view, allow cinema and only those who want to expose themselves will go there'.
He lost and tv was allowed, cinema to this day do not exist in saudia.

i acknowledge i am out of touch with the western times, i hear it from almost everyone, but when i sit with my friends, on the carpet, next to our trucks, by a desert road, sipping sheenchai and eating kishmish and badam and talking, i know i am sane and not missing the slime that ouzes out the the tv screen.

the tv set has corrupted the mind set.

yes we do... big flat screen one. I believe TV is a good source of info and knowledge if used properly...

if i am home the TV is one. i can't work/study/relax without tv being on. i watch a lot of Indian channels and National geographic and history channels... i really like watching documentaries... i also watch KQED, which is public broadcasting channel... I get a lot of uncensored, honest coverage from KQED tv channel and radio. I listen to public radio 2 hours daily lol... knowledge is my inspiration and i watch anything to gain more knowledge.
