Anyone who's lived in these places, as opposed to a tourist who's visiting this site, will tell you this.

You can not identify it via haplogroups, and whatever else dna analysis gets you, but that's a fact that applies almost everywhere.

Punjabis are racially and culturally different. The only ones that could possibly be racially similar (I don't want to say the same) are the ones that do not look punjabi ie Iranic, fair skin, etc etc (of which, no doubt, there are some... albeit minuscule or even negligible, especially if we ignore the half Punjabi half Kashmiri mixes).

It's not an exact science, but it is true that looks are used frequently in order to figure out who is or isn't Pashtun. It's not a coincidence that many past posters appeared somewhat skin color obsessed.

A large part of it is simply keeping track down the generations.

Don't get me wrong, it's not an exact science. There is a cultural element. If someone lives in the areas, speaks the language, is culturally affiliated, that's usually enough. But you shouldn't dismiss the "looks" part. It's not irrelevant. The truth hurts though. At best, there may be genetic similarities demonstrated via a dna test... but dna tests will show this for nearly every neighboring ethnic groups. It also shows a limited view of what the dna sample showed... i.e. not the complete picture.
I didn't reply to him cause I disagreed with him. I just didn't like that Pakistani nationalist using the word Pathan on a Pashtun forum.

The only distinguishing feature of Kashmiris is that they generally tend to have long, elongated faces that look like a horse or donkey. They are not attractive at all.

Before i had met any Kashmiris i used to think they were their own distinct people because of what i had read about their struggle with India. But i have since met a number of Kashmiris here and there over the past couple of decades and am no longer convinced that there is any significant difference between them and the rest of the Indians / Pakis. Whatever differences they have are easily outweighed by their similarities.

Maybe they should still be a separate state from India, but i dont buy into lies that Kashmiris are a different people racially or historically. They belong to the Indian civilization and history this is undeniable. Their "beef" with India is wholly about religion.
I dunno... brown skin is the norm with all the people in the region. I'd say it's a lighter shade of brown, especially when compared to punjabis.

I'll tell you my experience. I don't know how many pure Kashmiris I've met, but when I was living in Islamabad, in my class there were 3 friends of mine that were the Kashmiri-Punjabi hybrids that I speak of. 2 of them were, especially for Pakistan, considerably fair skinned. 1 was a medium-light brown, but not someone you'd say "oh he's fair skinned". Their body, features, mannerisms, etc indicated they were not Pashtun, but they WERE somewhat fair skinned.

Having said that, is this a good representation? Probably not at all. It's probably horrible representation. This was a private school in Islamabad. So certainly not indicative of the average, if you will.

Younis, i registered on this site mostly to let you know how much of a dickwad you are. You dalits have the guts to speak up against your erstwhile masters? Looks like we're gonna have to enslave you again. As for pashtuns in pakistan.... boy..... all i can say is that the most popular notion amongst notion amongst them is for securing their own land.... stretching forth into pakistan right down to the attock river. We will have our pashtunistan. As for afghans who have "migrated" into pakistan? Sorry to burst your bubble dalit, but this land belongs to them, you filthy punjabistanis can go back to india or go back in servility to your euro masters. Ffs get off this site, you junglemonkeys dont have the right to use this... pitting pashtuns against each other. Yoi claim to be pashtun, yet use a derogatory term which was coined by the morghod indics to denote afghans who would ravage their lands.

Most Eastern Afghans(Pashtuns) are descended from people who invaded those lands from the south and west and then settled there. They did probably somewhat mix with locals but those were mostly Dardic peoples, not Punjabis. I don't question your sincerity but thee types of ideas seem to be promoting a view that Pakistani and Afghan Pashtuns are somehow different peoples culturally and genetically. Which is very stupid as studies have shown that Pashtuns in both Pakistan and Afghanistan are genetically closer to each other than they are to any other ethnic group in Pakistan and Afghanistan. The same is true for culture, although that is harder to prove empirically.

Mention of Eastern Afghanistan (Kabul/Vaekereta) in the Vendidad Avesta:

"The seventh of the good lands and countries which I, Ahura Mazda, created, was Vaekereta, of the evil shadows.
Thereupon came Angra Mainyu, who is all death, and he counter-created the Pairika Knathaiti, who claves unto Keresaspa."

              23. Vaêkereta, an older name of Kabul (Kâpûl: Comm. and Gr. Bd.); perhaps the Ptolemeian Bagarda in Paropanisus (Ptol. VI, 18).
              24. The Pairika, in Zoroastrian mythology, symbolises idolatry (uzdes-parastih). The land of Kubul, till the Moslem invasion, belonged to the Indian civilisation and was mostly of Brahmanical and Buddhist religion. The Pairika Khnathaiti will be destroyed at the end of the world by Saoshyant, the unborn son of Zarathushtra (when all false religions vanish before the true one; Vd19.5). — Sama Keresaspa, the Garshasp of later tradition, is the type of impious heroism: he let himself be seduced to the Daeva-worship, and Zarathushtra saw him punished in hell for his contempt of Zoroastrian observances.

              AVESTA: VENDIDAD (English): Fargard 1.

This and given the genetic divide between Northern and Southern Pashtuns, it is likely that they are mostly Pashtunized Dardics/Indics.

lol... there we go with the physique stuff again.

So with these 3 friends, 1 was fat, the other 2 were skinny. Skinny being like the rawalpindi type paindus you see. Fair skinned being like, jeez, Idk, Imran Khan level, maybe a bit fairer.

Faces didn't have the strong jawline, it was kinda roundish for the fat guy, and I guess somewhat roundish for the skinny ones. Not square, basically.

Hair, 2 of them had straight hair, 1 had slightly wavy... like barely wavy.

What else? They're tall. The fat guy is taller than me. He's probably 6'1 or 6'2''. One of the skinny is like my height, 6'. The other skinny is probably 5'10''.

These are 3 guys, dude. Not sure how useful it is for you.
