if it is tribal difference then you can play muslimic card as suggested by Hallo, make them emotional and make them fear from Allah.
i believe Bannu is much more developed and modern city than swat, it is a trade hub and bannu people are not backward. there should be no village issue at all.
Yeah I feel like the emotional card and religious is the only way to go. No, socially we're the same. Literally the only issue is that he's from Bannu. His family is really nice and will agree to anything in terms of money and gold and all that wedding related stuff. I don't think he's gay haha.

Even my parents are from different tribes and married of their own choice -__-

Seriously, your parents are being very stuborn.
Yeah very stubborn. I hate how this situation seems to not have a peaceful resolution. Maybe if I keep it up finally they'll just give up :/ my parents are very stubborn though, I have to manage everything in a way where it doesn't look like I'm being rude or arguing otherwise they'll never agree. I also don't think civil marriage or a marriage without permission is a viable option.

The thread starter said that her parents are against the marriage because Bannu people are homosexuals.

I have been several times to Bannu and gay culture is very common there with the difference that many are not biologically homosexual, just by circumstances because girls boys interaction before marriage is out of question.

do you have a tradition of bride kidnapping or something like this like in caucasus and in kirgisistan?
it would be also an option

Your parents will give up eventually and probably say yeah, but your husband will have a bad relationship with them (and the rest of your family) considering they'll be giving him the cold shoulder every time they see him, I suppose you could move away from your family though...

I don't know what religion you're following, but in Islam it is more than permissible to reply to anyone through Internet. You can neither see, hear, smell, feel me and vice versa. For all I know you could be a fat stinking man trolling around the forum to see our reaction. That being said, nice try to use your non-existence knowledge about Islam to avoid answering the question.

To answer your question/give you advice, then stick to the man. I mean if your parents didn't do anything/reacted to the fact that you're having an affair before marriage/engagement, then I highly doubt they will do anything if you get married.
Don't quote me or speak to me if you hate Afghanistan, you be ignored.

People with identity crisis will be ignored as well.

May Allah (swt) make it easy for you and keep you away from haram and evil intentions, Ameen.

My advice would be to seek a mediator. An understanding brother or uncle or male figure in the family who is respected to talk to your parents because they may not take you seriously just because you claim to love the man.
I desire that which is Just - House of Dukemina.

The most adequate suggestion so far. Mediation is the best option.

And Duki where hath you been? After a long time. Welcome back though.

Thankyou for all your replies. My parents met him and didn't like his character so I decided to let it go. obedience to your parents is obedience to Allah and I wouldn't go against Allahs will. If you try your best to do something the right way and it doesn't work, then it's not in your kismat. And things like a court marriage leave you and your family without any izzat so I didn't want that.

Hira, no offense but that's "not the right way". If you even read about marriages in Muhammad(saw)'s time women had their own choice of husband independent of their parents

                              Hira,

I have to respect your courage in doing this. It was obviously not an easy moment in your life but you chose to place your parents and family above all else.

Hopefully you will meet your perfect life partner soon.
