Thank you, Admin Khan and Sangar.
Are the memorizers of the Holy Quran called Qari in Pashto?
It's another thing I read in this book by a Westerner who got some things wrong and I want to write some of them in a review maybe.
I know it's called Hafiz usually.
Glad for the mosques: build tons and hopefully in that pretty style architecture!

Sangar, are the ex-commies still secret commies, and are they the majority of the 'upper class' or elite of today's Kabul and other areas too? Are they stronger in the north nearer the border area of the former Soviet republic of Uzbekistan?
This really interests me, because one never reads about where they went after the downfall of the Communist govt under the horrific Najib.

I have a bad suspicion that some of these people signed on right away to work for Americans, because one secularist is probably as good as another secularist master to them?
    What do you think?

Secularism was and is still at the center of Bachaa Khan's party. Americans are overwhelmingly fat and Evangelical.

      More kind regards

commies claim to be "mili shakhsiyat" now. Which mean national figures. They claim that they enjoy popularity among their "people".

Most of them deny being communists and atheists. They have short trimmed beards, wear traditional clothes and attend mosque.

They claim they never were hostile to religion and religious people.

Most of them are high ranking officials in the current government. From army generals, to police chiefs, to governors and mayors and even cabinet ministers. Everywhere you can spot dozens of them.

The reason why they have joined in, is because Americans invited them. The Americans rely on secular and educated people who are willing to do anything in exchange for money.

Because warlords on average, can't even spell their names. And generally, the way the commies dress is more favorable for the image Americans want to project in the media of the puppet regime.

So this is why the commies are so popular now.

What happened to commies after najibs fall, most of them fled to Pakistan where they found refuge with the Pashtun Nationalist movement of North West Pakistan. Mahmood Khan Achakzai offered housing for General Manukai Mangal. The man responsible for the death of thousands of people in Nangarhar province. Likewise many other commies went underground and found jobs in Peshawar and elsewhere.

Another large group of the commies fled to the west. Still a large community of commies lives in Moskow, Tashkent, Bishkek, Almaty and Dushanbeh.

But most of them have returned back as soon as the Americans start offering them jobs.

To the first guy: is that Lenin [gag gag] leading the way to a communist future ? EEK!!!
However, I completely agree about Americans being fat, showing that they give in to every wish to indulge themselves, and have no fortitude to say NO to the little demons that tempt them. There are so many people with food addiction, sugar addiction, and much worse too.
IF religious at all, the average ones are often to be in the ignorant Evangelical or general Protestant camp. Those people are as wordly as can be; everything in their false churches is about "How to enlist God to make money for you". They barely believe in an afterlife; it's all about how much you can grab for yourself in this life. They constantly train their people with "prosperity" seminars.
Evangelical Protestants are supposedly conservative on social topics. Even their leaders, though, are now getting very supportive or at least lenient about homosexuals. Few American bother to protest about their massive infiltration of the entire society. So it's not a surprise that the country has been taken over by the devil's legions. Then the devil tells the entire officialdom : Go invade Afghanistan and harass that long-enduring people, so these people in power follow their orders and wreak all the suffering...

Sangar are commies kind of "in style" today then?
Like there is no stigma attached to having been a Khalqi or Parchami ?
[Do these parties still exist? If so is one stronger than the other? Or are they extinct or underground now?]
Or they are even popular it sounds like?
But maybe just popular with the foreign forces present, not with the Afghan population ? Or both?

That's really helpful about how they fled to Central Asia and Pakistan but came back upon invitation? Do you think Americans had invited each one or issued a general call for 'qualified' help ?
I think it's a bit scary that there would be an Afghan Communist or Communist collaborator community in MOSCOW> I know some were there for school so maybe they had connections from those days. But still....I wonder what they do, besides train for jobs as KGB-FSB helpers.

What about the dress, you say they blend in with usual Afghans by wearing traditional attire. But is it still a little different than the usual or do you mean fancier looking? You said they fit the image Americans wish to project, so I assume they look more dapper and 'business-like'.
Whenever there's a mention of the Karzai govt officials or projects or anything, I think to myself, how can anyone take them seriously? They are probably just props on the stage for the American public's consumption so they will believe there is a real govt there. It IS probably all puppetized, though. Not much different from the Karmal times, right?

What's so wrong in criticizing a religion? There are more important issues to be considered than religion. We are all Pashtuns and that should be the foremost thing (atleast for me) to consider on this Forum. We are free thinkers and nobody can stop us in expressing our thoughts. All civilized and developed societies of the world know the importance of freedom of speech and today we can see the resulting DIFFERENCE. Conversely, we did not allow it and hence today we are in social/political hot water. And on the top of that, even at this point we are thinking of banning freedom of speech here on this virtual world. The guardians of religion enjoy the greatest degree of freedom here compared to the non-religious ones in that some have even resolved to personal attacks, and still they are the one complaining. One should bear in mind that the planet we all are harboring is very diverse; we are different from our genetic architecture to our mood swings to the amount of sugar that we add to our tea/coffeee. Therefore, you cannot expect people to shut their mouths just because whatever they say is something you don't like to hear. As long as people refrain from attacking personally out of their mere frustration, the dialogoue/debate should never he stopped.
"O Pakhtuns!, Your house has fallen into ruin, let us rebuild it".
"I want to see my people educated and enlightened. A people with a vision and a strong sense of justice, who can carve out a future for themselves in harmony with nature".

Actually, the commies who joined Ahmed Shah massoud's party back in 1992 after the fall of communist regime never left. But after the fall of taliban regime, they were back in business.

Then the ones who are not with massouds men returned back to Kabul and they applied for jobs. And they were hired by the transit government. So others caught the smell of dollars and returned. And gradually, they replaced the warlords and today the vast majority of karzai's government appartus are former commies.

Nobody is a khalqi or parchami by name anymore. They have made new groups and parties and have joined the nationalist movements such as Afghan Millat ( Social Democrat Party) whoch is predominantly Pashtun.

Moskow does try to organize them in a new formation. They function as a liason between Moskow and the northern alliance.

Most of them who live outside Afghanistan gather for conference and seminars paid by Moskow. They often meet up in Holland and germany.

They wear suites whenever they meet with the press. Some of Karzais spokesmen are former KHAD agents. The Afghan National Television is run by former commies.

There is not a real stigma. Since whoever has dirty hands is now considered as an asset. And thus climbs up high in the echelons of power.

If you study Machiavelli's book where he discusses how to gain dominance of a new territory, he explains how you should get rid of the most powerful power block and empower the smaller groups. But prevent any particular group from gaining absolute majority. This is what America is doing right now in Afghanistan.

The thing is, most of the commies were never really convinced of the Marxist ideology. Because Marxism is a failed utopianist world view which any rational human being will see through eventually. But the real motives of these people was power and wealth. So they are ready to blend in and pose as whatever necessary to get the jobs and the perks on offer. No matter who offers it.

One famous communist from Holland, Habib Mangal's election campaign was payed by moskow. He use to be the ambassador of Afghanistan in moskow.

we are foremost Muslims. Pashtun identity does not take you to paradise.

And nobody is allowed to critisize or mock our religion. Whoever does so is not one of us. And non-Muslims and atheists and Islam bashers are alien to Pashtun identity.

So who-ever is not in line with the Muslim majority of Afghanistan and attacks our religion is attacking Pashtuns in general.

some people here who supposedly carry the flag of Islam... insult other people... name calling, personal attacks, degrading other's families are done as frequently by mullah "rrond" wanna be's as non-muslims on this website...

the mullahs on this website are so confident of their faith and practice of Islam, and have such big heads that they have forgotten what is to be humble... i don't complain of non-mulim acting badly... it hurts me to see muslims represent Islam in such a way.

^i don't have time to go look for specific examples...

on a side note... sometimes i feel extremely embarassed for other muslims here when i read their comments. I think we all need to step back, relax, take a few deep breath and realize that we are not perfect ourselves!... we are all human. if you we are so full of ourselves that suddenly we start placing ourselves in a position of God (astaghfirullah) and start judging others, it might lead to displeasing Allah swt and we might be punished for it in the future. the problem is that we all know how to talk big but inside we are all empty, angry, depressed ...

I never point to a non-muslim and show disappointment in their behaviour... what i rather like to do is point to myself and see what all is wrong in me and needs fixing... Even in Quran we are instructed to fix ourselves first before others... i am surprised to see the PF is full of perfect individuals.
