  • Afghani and Pakistani Pashtuns

Sallamuna Khalko. Ok, let me start this by asking a question, "Why do Afghani Pashtun hate Pakistani Pashtun so much?" If not the Pakistani Pashtun, why the citizens of Pakistan? It seems as if we Pashtuns are so much into our own "Pashtunwali", or "Pakhtunkhwa" or what ever you want to call it, that we don't even care about other people, forget people, but not even our own Muslim brothers and sisters.

Back to topic: From childhood, Ive been watching Pashtun videos, and indeed we are the worriers of all times. But the awful part is, when I scroll down to see the comments, there is so much hate. So much hate from Afghanis to Pakistanis, and from Pakistanis to Afghanis. The question is, Why? We are all MUSLIMS... Id like to here your opinions, please share your thoughts. Thank you.

i don't hate any one but i don't like the fact that pashtoons from pakistan are starting to become even more "modernized" than they were a few years ago.
it's the cultural difference that's spreading the fraction.

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

Indeed that is partially the problem. I notice this big change too, and its no wonder why we are facing one of the greatest azaabs ever, in Pakistan.

Respected brother, Afghani is the name of Afghanistan's currency. However, no Afghan citizen hates a Pakistani citizen. Anyone with a proper education would not oppose his brother who has the same roots. Nonetheless, I see a ton of people "faking" to be from Afghanistan and they tend to badmouth Pakistani Pashtuns, let me tell you this. There is a reason why both countries do not have borders, both countries have the same tribes living across the land, both countries have similarities. Those that try to propagate the media to make it seem as though we have problems we need to stop. We are already divided into 500 tribes(including subtribes) We have a system in which a Alokozai thinks he is better as compared to an Afridi, we have a system in which a Popalzai is all hyped up because the president is Popalzai, we need to work on unifying. What is next, A Pakistani Yusufzai and a Afghan Yusufzai? There is a famous quote "A brother can never hate his own brother". One of my main intentions of this board that I have created is not only to create a community for us Pashtuns but to bridge the gaps and clear out these misconceptions. Type the word Pashtun in Youtube and you will see what I mean, we are the same people, we speak the same language, same culture why on earth would we hate each other? Afghans thank there counterparts for embracing them. In fact, as soon as you enter Baluchistan you will realize most of the Pashtuns do not discriminate on who is "Afghan" and who is "Pakistani". I actually thank PMAP and ANP for proudly saying they are "ethnic Afghans" That kind of reassured both sides that after all, they are the same people.

Let me ask you a question dear, Why would you think the same people across the border supposedly "Hate" each other?
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

its enevitable, no single culture on the face of earth is safe from that fact..and one simple answer for that...globalization

The reason why pashtuns or other ethnicities within pakistan are becoming modernized at a faster rate is because in Pakistan is gearing towards economic development, industrialisation ( thus globalization ) at a much faster rate as compared to Afghanistan, since its not plauged with internal turmoil as compared to Afghanistan. Also another factor is the pashtun majority in Afghanistan, when you're in majority you tend to project your cultural influence upon other cultures more so in effect you retain your own culture. In pakistan no one ethnicity is in majority so they tend to influence eachother, and they can only do that by becoming part of the mainstream society..its like a hybrid model

Back to the question of hate, logically it somewhat makes sense to me as to why Afghans hate Pakistanis..and NO pakistanis DONT HATE Afghans, we dont have the same issues as them. If it were so such a large population of Afghans wouldn't be able to survive inside Pakistan without a backlash from the pakistanis, the reason there isn't any is because we accept them as our brothers and have no ill feelings towards them. Afghans tend to hate pakistanis and blame them for their troubles, taliban and what-not. To an extent that is true, but the fact that Afghans dont want to admit, and in which lies the reason for all their turmoil is because they are themselves responsible for all this.

The ethnic conflict within Afghan is much to great for the country to function properly, had they been united by finding a common ground taliban would never have been able to take root in Afghanistan. Foreign countries couldnt have created taliban had it not been for the fact that there was such a great divide among Afghans..Even if foreign countries stop using Afghanistan as a proxy it will be plauged by internal difference, and that is evident from its history before the taliban took place

Every minute spent hating us or blaming foreigners is time wasted, Pashtuns are a majority in Afghanistan it is their moral and national duty to start regarding it as their homeland and work for its betterment and they can only do that by unifying all ethnicities under one flag and taking this nation out of this nightmare of a century.

Afghanistani pashtuns hate only those pak pashtuns who consider themselves pakistani, and u know magority of pashtuns consider themselves pakistani so u are right....they hate magority of us.
But there is another class among them "persianized pashtuns" who even hate anti-pakistani pashtuns of pakhtunkhwa.
It should be noted that these haters r from educated class of afghans, the poor ones love pak pashtuns and magority of afghans are poor

These fake people who are either raised in the west or Persianized are not the real Afghans. They are faking it.

When you visit Afghanistan and you tell them you are Pashtun they will be serving you 24/7 Pashtuns from Afghanistan dont care what your nationality is ,

Once they find out your a Melmah, wether you be Punjabi or Pashtun they will love and respect you.

How do I know? as a Pakistani I have witnessed it in Afghanistan. We love you Afghans and I feel as though I am loved right back.

P.S the online crap you read is all bogus man. It is mainly Hazaras and Tajiks auditioning as Pashtuns and they say "we hate Pakistani Pashtuns"

Just think about it, WHY WOULD THEY? If it was competing RIVALS it would make sense. But we Pukhtuns are the same exact thing as them like one member we said.
excuse me? who said you could tag us like that?
it's sad how we talk about pashtun unity and you expect us to swallow on random insult thrown here and there abut the rest of our nation.
