Your claim is not true, many Pashtuns have been raised abroad and they still are familiar with Pashtun culture. In fact I know more about Pashtun customs, practices and culture than even you might.

For example I know that to be Pashtun it comes from plarani khwah, where as you're trying to say someone is Pashtun by morani khwah. this is clearly contradiction of Pashtun farhang. That is why tribes are identified by Paternal Lineage.

The father establishes lineage, mother nurtures the children in his lineage for five years and then the father grooms them for adulthood. He finishes what he started and mother's influence is intermediary. This is universal structure of patriarchal societies. Thereby the father provides culture as culture establishes mores of behavior for adulthood, the mother provides an introduction.

Pashtuns married with outsiders but under selective acceptance. You know of Sad'at-e-Kunarh? They are originally an Arab family descended from Nabi Muhmmad(saw)from Syria and Iraq who settled in Kunarh. Sayyid Jamaluddin Al-Afghani was from this family. Ghilzai are also mixed with Ghorian and Turks. The key factor here is that they were Muslims and that they assimilated into Pashtun society. They were culturally and socially parallel.
and what about Mujadiddi and Gailani? Gailani are from Iraq and Iran and Mujadidi originate from India. In marrying a woman marrying German in Germany, the opposite happens. This is because there is lack of congruence with a German, where as Muslims intrinsically have congruence. If it rarely happened, even if they were Muslim, how come I can find so many examples of it happening? It only proves you lack awareness of your own culture.

If you want to see a Jahil hypocrite. look in the mirror Who told you that believing in evolution contradicts Islam? You talk so much about progress ad evolution; but you're ignorant of Islam's heritage. Don't let German Farangyan brainwash you. If you were educated you'd know that in History of Muslims; numerous Muslim Scientists knew about Evolution before Darwin. Even Jalaluddin Rumi had a poem which describes evolution. They were never deemed infidels; because they understood the Qur'an much more deeply. It is only modern Saudi Funded doctrines and Deobandis who have tried to silence that Evolution is compatible with Islam, because the verses about Adam and Eve were not seen as literal. These same groups were fostered by British farangayan, so your comprehension of Islam is something the Farangyan have brainwashed you with. You're really no different than the Taliban, just the opposite version. Both of you are uneducated and blind.

And you talk about being Pashtun and Pashtuns sees marriage with other Muslims as taboo; even though we can find thousands of examples. yet you're willing to m*rdag*w Pashtun women to farangyan and accept it;; all because being so gullible that you allowed the Farangay deceive you into thinking that such practices are signs of progress. Talk about jahil and hypocrite. If you were educated you'd see that the claim is logically absurd.

Her family are a little backward and to be fair not their fault. :p I have had good talks with both her and her family on the and email only. I speak good Pashto and have a very good grasp on culture, custom and most importantly see myself as compatible with their daughter.

There is a little history with the ol girl and I don’t really care. When she finds out how many woman I have slept with she would be shocked!

Anyway, the problem is well I am not a Muslim, so Nikah is going to be a problem. She is well aware of this predicament and simply avoids having to answer any of my questions when we have a chat.

I am going to meet her parents soon, I am going to Germany this week but will be going to Pakistan for 3 days so need this post answering to the best of anyone ability before Sunday :p

        Opinions Please.

Many pashtuns do,nt even marry outside their village and tribe.
Pashtun gerat and honour is far greater then few think here.
Every pashtun is muslim and these fararians/tahtedali do not represent the view of 55 millions pashtuns living on both side of durandline.
Those who can change the religion for westren passport and other benifits would care pashtunwali?
          never.
These are oppertunists people exists in every society and they move place to place for that.
pashtuns can marry eachother regardless of their tribal link but should never allow their female to marry non-pashtuns and non muslims.
          This is how we are.
if we need to bring change then it should not cross the boundries of our pashtu and islam.
we will do it our own way.
why should we follow the westrens.?
They should live according their own customs .we have no problem with that .

              Reason being?
O'faithful hearken thy vezir, for he promises them another Gandamak and for the ancestors of Hari Nalwa a similar fate has been sealed. We shall shake the foundations of their inner sanctums, written in gold and immortal will remain this endeavor of Afghans.

                Salam alaikom,

If her parents are remotely practicing Muslims then it is very unlikely to happen. If you love her that much perhaps you should look into Islam?

Professionalism, tact, understanding culture, remembering family member's names, speaking on their terms (Knowing Pashto helps!), have her on board to smooth things out before you meet them; being financially stable, having great parents (from your side) who are just as accepting and also have a firm grasp of her culture and her family (knowing who each of them are); dishing compliments out.

                    Good luck.
