Girls are not allowed to watch tv, computer, movies , mobile and other entertaiment..it is thought "dena ba jinakai kharape shi"..but boys are allowed to do so.
Girls are not allowed to have education. Common concept among rural pashtuns is that with education girls become immoral and out of bounds. Boys are pushed towards education. This has created great contrast in gender, and a dangerous situation. Boys are exposed to every aspect of world and society, and gets education so they become sharp, hoshiyar while girls of their same age, limited to their homes, are aware of nothing..they are naive and very simpleton...so taiz and kharab halakan fooled them very easily into an affair..thats why there is total misuse of mobile phones...i wont go into details.
Ive noticed a ridicolous amount of x rated material coming out of kpk in the last 5 years that was unthinkable a decade ago
its ridicolous, and youve pointed accurately at the problems roots

Yea total misuse of mobile phones is going on in our areas, unfortunately. These videos are recorded by harami boys during "zinna" and girl had no idea that they will be uploaded on internet and distributed on mobiles. Few years ago a wazir docter in miran shah was shot dead by talibans, that pucker used to do sex with his female patients in clinic and recorded them on mobile...on some occasion when he was walking outside, he accidently dropped USB, containing his recorded videos of sex. Some one picked it, uploaded it to internet and sold it to mobile shops from where it got distributed to customers..when this news reached the talibans, they killed the khanzeer docter....
Risky love letters of old times are replaced by mobile phones, which has made it easier for girl and boy to establish an affair very easily in sexually frustrated society.. like i said rural pashtuns dont allow their daughters to keep a mobile phone, what they dont know that their daughter might be hiding mobile in her breast cleavage and at night , when all will members of house will be sleeping, she and her ashna will be talking on phone for hours...thanks to late night packages from mobile networks... Rate of girls running away from homes has increased tremendously (as every thing is precisely scheduled and planned on phone like date, time ,place etc for "takhdida")...unfortunately many of these girls are used and decieved by boys...on phones these boys talks romantic shyt like farhad, heer, romeo, majnun etc but inside these shaitans have some thing else on mind...There is misuse of another technology in pashtun areas...internet DSL. Our Pashtun Youngsters keep PC in their baitaks and watch bollywood, WWE movies and dirty stuff with their friends.. That is all young educated pashtuns are using computers like DVD players...no other use. Now high speed internet is available in all towns of KP which is very useful technology but....majority of our youngsters are using it to either stream xxx videos or they are wasting their lot of time on facebook , with primary aim to find a girlfriend online...People here in homelands are not yet mature like you guys in west, our society will take time to adopt to these technologies...
Although pashtuns are very protective of their women, our biggest downfall is that we don't let our women get education. I don't think its the fact that pashtuns don't want their daughters to be educated but the lack of facilities which are in line with our religion and culture are not there. An open minded, educated and knowledgeable daughter means she will be better mother to meet the demands of the 21st century and keep up with her children and undrestand them better. Lack of communication between parents and children is a big problem and it gets bigger when parents are uneducated and children are.

People in the West do the exact same thing whether educated or not brother. Boys and men use internet to trick girls. This is part of human nature and plenty of fools in every society to fall for it. I agree with all your other points.
The other biggest problem is the lack of parents participation and understanding in these natural desires and human wants. People in the homeland are shy and do not want to think about these needs of their sons or daughters. Many girls and boys are lacking options to marry or find spouses. This is also an issue in the West too. So naturally if they cant do it halal way they look for haram means.

You should also highlight honor killings too, most people in Hewad are too scared to express their love for someone their parents oppose.
Plus, even in Afghanistan, there is a big problem of older men marrying very young girls without their consent in the name of honor and tribal status.
Women issues in Afghanistan is very different than in the West.
There has been a very high increase of suicide by Afghan women, due to domestic abuse, honor killings and neglect.
As far as my experiences so far have taught me. The one and only solution is Islam for Afghanistan and the West.
Personally, I feel sorry for women in Afghanistan but I can't do anything nor anyone else until Afghanis drop the macho crap and learn to gain some knowledge (Islam). If you say anything to an Afghan about how badly women are treated or how they are they will either smack you or tell you to **** off. I gave up when I couldn't even convince my own uncles to let my cousin (female) to continue going into high school in Afghanistan. We all knew she was smart as hell, her english was amazing for an Afghan. The response I got, its not safe for girls to go to high schools. end of discussion..
I am still interested in women's rights in Islam, and planning on sneaking into a course next semester on Women's Rights in Islam (taught by a white women). You know what is the funniest thing ever: The reactions on the southern girls faces when they hear how badly muslim women have been treated around the world!
I hate to ruin a discussion: but I don't think there will be a change in status for Pashtun women in my lifetime or till qayamat.

Dear we have no problem in educating our woman but the problem is our secular education system and the whole system. The day you Islamize our education and bring an Islamic political, social, economic system in the country, I don't think a single Pashtun man won't send his daughter or sister to the school or university.
