    Re: Marriage to non-Pashtuns

Marraige to non-pashtuns is not an issue at all.

Selling of pashtun girls to others is a serious issue which is needed to be discussed. Due to wars and poverty poor pashtuns sell their girls to unkowns and then never bother to make contact with blood in future, horrible stuff happens to such pashtun girls.

          It's news to me.
ofcourse in west, we cant be aware fully of what is going on in our homeland. The utopian pashtunland that you people have constructed in your minds is quite different from the real one.

tor khana you did'nt mention black and shameful business of selling of daughters in swat?

I am sure you will deny this fact and will call me liar.

what is reason that some people in swat sell their girls to other pashtuns and punjabis?
Poverty can not be the reason because swatis are not that poor.
p.s: this shameful business is also carried out by poor afghan immigrants and other areas of NWFP like nowshera, chitral etc

                  Re: Marriage to non-Pashtuns

Thing with Pashtuns is that they 're being too harsh on their children when it comes to marriage. I also fell in love with one but our fault was that I'm from Pashtunkhwa 'n she from Afghanistan, 'n that my Pashtu is extremely weak. It boiled my blood even more when I heard she got engaged to a Tajek.

^ For Afghans that doesn't always have to be the case. Also in my family we had a lot of suitors from Pakhtunkhwa but the fact they were Pakistani's made my family reject each and every one of them. Unfortunately, because I really would love to have someone from Pakhtunkhwa in my family as I want to associate more with Pukhtoons of Pakistan.

Exactly, Laghman is very diverse. And the Tajiks are considered as Pashtuns because they have respected and assimilated themselves into the Pashtun community, and they are quite Patriotic too. They have been welcomed, and there arent any problems.

I don't know who i will be married to, but sofar my family namekhoda who is a big family has no history of marrying non pashtuns - so i hope that wont change.

I don't care from which part of Afghanistan my possible wife would be from, whether she is from kunar, kabul, pekhawar, laghman, ningarhar, swat don't matter as long other things are right.

My dear, i still dont understand that.....my family, as you also know, is like that too....i mean we are both pashtuns, so whats the problem??? Why is it that we obviously consider one another as 'one' but then when the topic of marriage comes around, its a different reaction. Its quite pathetic.

i hope your wedding plans are going well.......you will have to send plenty of photos, me and my mom are eagerly waiting

I just wish i could go to your wedding, i would dance all night, and do the attan *twice* just for you

That was my 500th post *yay* God, i need a life :P

It is not that afghans consider pakistani pashtuns inferior.
Giving their daughters in far place and another country is very difficult decision for parents.
