  • Hey guys can you guess what haplogroup i most likely belong to just by the physical description of my family?

Ok so most people in my family basically have pale skin and brown hair. My great grandfather was a red head with green eyes and my uncles 2 children have red hair. My other cousins who are twins in Afghanistan also have red hair but their parents were both dark headed. I was born with light brown hair with slightly red highlights and my dad has green eyes with pale skin but all my siblings (including me) have brown eyes inherited from my mothers side. My great grandfather originally came from surobi during the pashtunization campaign and settled in the north.

Uh are you sure you're Pashtun. those descriptions don't match any I have seen in my life.

Those descriptions describe an Uzbeki/Hazara complexion.

the only green eye Afghans I know, are my half-Nuristani cousins.

            Very interesting thanks!

If you want, you can even publish your results on this website: http://www.harappadna.org/participation/

They will break down your dna further in to different regions, just like this spreadsheet. There are already pashtuns and many others there: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...WZzNBMEE#gid=1

^ I believe it is free, you confirm it with emailing the site moderator.

            • I believe your results will be inline with the other pashtuns on the Harrapa website. Go check out Pashtuns in the link https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...WZzNBMEE#gid=0

The main genetics components for Pashtuns on the website are (Baloch) which is more of cental/south asian component, but has affinity with West Asians. (Caucasian) which is a component found most in the Caucasus region, but also in Iranians and Middle Easterners and (South Indian), which is of course the native component of India

                  No Paktia in me.

Yes I did. she was my great grandmother so I have never seen her, since she was born in the late 1800's.

My grandfathers (they were brothers) said she was a Qurayshi Arab who spoke Arabic as a first language, Pashto as a second.

                    • ^ If that is true, I am also Q1b. Q1b is a very rare haplogroup and there is a good chance our ancestors could have been related at some point!

There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

                            Adam,

Here were my results I posted in this thread last year:

                            ---

I'm also U2c1! There aren't many U2c1's out there, and it would be good to reference your sample with mine, since we are both Pashtuns. I was wondering if you can join the U2 Haplogroup Project so we can compare our results? Since you already transferred your data to FTDNA, it becomes very easy, just join.

Oh wow, our percentages are pretty close, its pretty interesting that I share haplogroups with both you and Karachi. And I've joined the group, what exactly is the purpose of the groups?
I've also just sent my raw data to the harappa project.

                              • Adam,

The purpose of the groups is to find similarities between people that match. We can compare our maternal DNA to see how close we shared that ancestor.

It also is a database for researchers to infer the population dispersal pattern of human beings from both maternal and paternal ancestry.

I really hope you join the U2 project, I'd like to see how close we match! Also, you should join the Afghan-Pakistani DNA Group as well, which can be located here: https://www.familytreedna.com/public/dna_afghan_pak/

They have the most members who are of our descent and we can compare our ancestries accordingly. There are other paternal Q brothers in this group as well.
