A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai
For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."
The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

Awesome! Terrific job by Dr.Zeyer. A great service to Pashto lanuguage and Pashtuns. "Azmeekhton" for laboratory is spot-on. Personally I thought of "waas" or "aamal kol" for Lab. since most of the time what we do in labs is "struggle" or "effort" but still was not a satisfactory word, but definitely Azmeekhton hits the spot because "azmeekh" is "experimenting which is actually what we do in lab..so yeah, I am so happy now
Thanks for educating us Ijaz Yousafzai.

To be honest, I think Pashtuns in Pashtunkhwa need to loose all that ugly Urdu & English terrr and derrr. And All Kabulis should loose all the Farsi yak du see char panj stuff. Its ugly.
I hate it when people speak pashto with so many borrowed words. In Kabul sometimes it is confusing. You don't know if people are speaking Farsi or pashto. because they use so many farsi and Arabic its not even funny.
And peshawari pashto...ooooohhhh I hate the derrrr and derrrrr and milawigi and milau sho and ulta and unees and pachees. And the Ji Ji Ji. PUKE!

Are there any words for "awareness" and "goverment"?
Burrowing words from English language makes more sense to me since with the modern progress of Science and Technology as well as hundreds of other fields, new terminologies are introduced every day.Nonetheless, the Pashto linguists should help the language by introducing neologism. The Pashto in Pekhawar is quite "contaminated" with lots of Urdu words. For instance, people would prefer to say "Boodh" and "Mangal" than "Charshamnba" and "Nahee" (for Wednesday and Tuesday), respectively. I tend to mix English and Pashto a lot (I actually spotted one sentence in my post above, lol). At home, parents were so vigilant to spot any Urdu words that we would use while speaking Pashto and would correct it by replacing it with a Pashto word.
