Why hard? Sounds interesting...Originally posted by Friend View PostHow can i speak khostai pashto dialect fluently. Is it possible ? Because khostai dialect is considered to be the hardest dialect and pashto.
Where does this dialect is being used now days?
And I've also another question, does anybody know about a film/serial with Pashto subtitles? I am dreaming of a TV program in Pashto with Pashto subtitles - best method for improving in any language.
Thanks----

Khostai is not the name of a dialect but an accent. Some scholars call soft dialect as Central dialect for the accent found in areas like Khost, Bannu, Waziristan etc. They use more E than O or U. for example for mother the usual pronunciation is Mor but they pronounce it like Mer. They usually speak Pashto faster than other Pashtuns.Originally posted by Valujira View PostWhy hard? Sounds interesting...

If you are dreaming of a program in Pashto, then there is no need of Pashto subtitles. You use subtitles for another language not for the same language. You can make a program in Pashto with English subtitles. You may contact Khyber TV for further details.

That's exactly the point, a Pashto speaker perhaps doesn't need them, BUT I am planning to learn Pashto and visit the Pashtunlands, and from previous experience, I assume I can say for sure that during my Chinese studying, I became fluent and can understand what people are saying due to the subtitles Chinese add to their programs and news reports, it is essential and can benefit the learner in such a manner he can fluent quickly. Because you both can see how one word is being pronounced, and if you see any word or phrase you can't understand you can stop and translate and then continue.
In Polish it took me forever to understand what people are saying and to visit it twice and even today I might have a bit difficulty to imply stuff and pick up what people want, though I've finally passed it....
So I hope out there someone took the job and made some subtitles for a TV show/film/news report/ etc.----
