I second that........Spoken Urdu and Spoken Hindi are almost same......its in the literature, as you mentioned, where Arabic and Farsi is stuffed into it.

Khushal has admitted that he neither knows Urdu nor Farsi so he doesnt know what he is talking about.

So? I am talking about the geographic location, also like I said, India itself is much older then Indus civilization, people undermine the whole Dravdian history of India and even old other histories since the time of African migration.

I think English should be the National language of Pakistan besides the provincial languages in each province. Imran Khan wants to get rid of Urdu medium education and replace it with English. He knows Urdu serves no purpose and is a hindrance. If you get rid of Urdu then people of KPK will only have to use English and pashto. This will benifit Pashto as Pashtuns will not have to learn an extra language and can concentrate on Pashto instead.
This step will revive regional languages in Pakistan and make people proud of their mother tongue instead of speaking broken Urdu just to fit in.

You know, I thought of this as well... but there's a flaw. This will likely increase ethnic tensions as everyone will be loyal to their language/ethnicity. This also poses a problem of what happens say there are Pakhtuns in Sindh or Punjab and they don't want to learn sindhi or punjabi?

I can also see the aversion to making English the national language, as that becomes a mark of the colonials left forever. Urdu is a fairly rich language, with a lot of literature.

In an ideal scenario, people should learn as many languages as possible, as it only benefits them. However, obviously it's not practical to do something like that. I think the way it is, with the ability to select a course of your choice that includes any of the 4 respective languages would make most sense.

I don't see Pakistanis speaking English instead of Urdu any time soon. It's a huge leap. It's sufficient for business and as the official language.

Just my 2 cents and certainly open to counter arguments. I'm not 100% sold on this myself.

It is everyone's natural right to be taught in their mother tongue and then be able to preserve your language by putting it into use in everyday life. There is a reason why Pashto is left behind other languages, because we are not using it in all spheres of life. Then we complain Pashto is too hard compared to Urdu/Farsi. Its our own fault and inferiority complex about our language. Pakistani identity is primarily based on Islam and not culture. Pashtuns do not fit into the Desi culture of the majority and thats one of the reason, Pakistan is a federation where each province has its own identity. Urdu has nothing to do with Pashtuns historically, and the only reason it has been forced upon Pashtuns and other ethnic groups is because Pakistan wants to create a certain desi muslim cultural identity to unify the vastly different Pashtuns and other Desis of Pakistan. Maybe they feel Islam alone is not enough to unify the people so they need to erase people's cultural identity to keep them together. In other words, Pakistanis should be clones of eachother.

Your point regarding Pashtuns not wanting to learn Punjabi, sindi etc. Why should they have a problem with punjabi or sindhi if they dont have a problem with urdu. They are all indic languages and we should respect the language of the area we chose to immigrate to. Pashtuns can set up private Pashto medium schools in Sindh, punjab if they want. English will be the main language of communication between all ethnic groups.
The hertiage of Urdu language mainly belongs to modern India, specifically Hindustanis of the north. Hindi and urdu are basically the same language with different script. Urdu has been slightly more influenced by Arabic/Farsi due to Islam. Pakistan has nothing to do with Hindi/Urdu heritage especially before the creation of Pakistan. Except for Iqbal and a handful of others, there are no notable Urdu personalities prodcuced by Punjabis, pashtuns etc. Its really shameful to see Pakistani Desis claim the mughal, hindustani heritage of India while the majority of Pakistanis i.e Punjabis sindhis etc have nothing to do with it.
Anyway, us Pashtuns need to stay away from internal Desi conflicts and focus on oursleves and our priorities. It wastes our energies which can be put to good use. If standing up for our own language rubs certain people the wrong way, then so be it. The unity of Pakistani state should not come at the cost of sacrificing our Pashtun language and identity. What is the point of being part of a federation where you can't be yourself

Most Pashtuns can speak Farsi as its has been the lingua franca of West, central and northern south asia for milleniums....Pakistan re-installing Farsi is the only way forward....I mean why would Panjabis be against this??? Even Urdu already has so many Farsi loan words its half Farsi language.

Even Punjab official website proudly claims Punjabis are mainly descendended from Iranic peoples...so why be against re-installing Farsi as official language of Pakistan?

English as official language is negative symbolism of colonial age of south asia...(= adopting your British slave masters' language)

Your making up words that have no meaning. What is indic? You mean Sanskrit. The grammatical structure is ofcourse is seldom replaced in the evolution of language. But the vast majority of Urdu today is Arabic and Farsi which today is being replaced with English. Most farsiwan that I know can understand todays Urdu poetry but todays Urdu speakers can not understand the poetry of Urdu poet Ameer Khusrau who lived in the 13th century.

Most pashtuns can not speak Farsi. that is a myth.

English is unstoppable. Business, Technology, Medicine is all based on English infrastructure so therefore you have no choice but to learn it and speak it. Once the foundation is built on a certain language, the people that build on top of that foundation has no choice but to continue it.

You don't need to speak the language to provide input on it. All you have to do is read G.A. Grierson who has done massive research on Urdu who theorize that it is a mixture of languages of tribes that traveled to the bazaars of Delhi.

                                Also Punjab website proudly claims:

On account of its strategic location in the Indian sub-continent, wave after wave of migrants poured into the area and settled on its fertile lands and today, although originally belonging to the Aryan stock, the people of Punjab are descendants of the Iranians, Turks, Afghans and Arabs who came individually or in groups.
