  • Dhodai

I bought khamira dhodai from grocery store and it was labelled with Persian bread whereas I think it is Afghan bread.

I want to know which type/size of the thanara bread (dhodai, nwarai, naan, etc.) is prevalent in different Pashtun areas.

In Swat, it is the big khamira dhodai.

In Sawabi, the dhodai is khamira but its size is smaller.

Among the Afridis, the dhodai is very big...I think, they cook one or two dhodais for the entire family. It is very delicious as well.

Could you tell about dhodai in other areas.

Yes, our bread is the long one tandoori ones. Since our area is rich in wheat, wheat kind is mostly made.

We make big round bread for the morning meal, known as sweet bread, sheerin dodai. Its dipped into sheen chai.

Oh nice Laila. In our area it is round and khamira.

Wish to eat that Shereen bread. In Pekhawar, there is Danish kutab khanai walla from Laghman...We once happened to visit his kutab khana and probably he served us with that...but am not sure.

Was the bread really round, and a strong brown color, not burnt though. Where there holes on the bread? And you can taste just a little bit of oil that was brushed on it.
