so there is a different thing going on in the animal world it seems everything is automated .

for us its not survival of the fittest or the strongest its actually the strong should support the weak in order for the weak to survive.

we can als kill that lion we mentioned above but still we have no business in killing the lion unless it is for self protection.
thats just a food chain wrora, like we eat sheep, cow etc becouse we are at the top of the food chain.

i agree that the strong should support the weak but at the same time when humans mate dont they go for the person who is on there level? like the rich families only seem to marry into other rich families, which then keeps those genes progressing into the next generation

        that is bias bro
who says that the rich only marries to rich? what has being rich or educated got to do with genes?

i am not saying we are animals but i am saying that in the food chain in this world we are at the top. we can kill any other animal we wish to can we not? with ease i mean.

and i wasnt saying that in that way, i was just trying to make a point that humans tend to mate with other humans on thier level.

lol, I remember fervently arguing evolution with Muslim friends a few years ago. At the time I didn't know anything about evolution and decided to read up on it on the internet. Stumbled upon the whole creation/evolution debate and found out that most of the objections to evolution by creationists were either false or a misunderstanding about how science works.

It was a great learning experience for me. Although I never did manage to change any of their opinions on evolution, the discussions led to me changing my own opinion on it. Previously I, in my ignorance, had been against evolution. It's kind of funny though, as many of them are bright and well educated people, one of them even working on a PhD in biology! Can you imagine that, a guy working in a field in which the theory of evolution is such a fundamental cornerstone, yet he didn't believe in it!

Anyway, to anyone who doesn't "believe" in evolution, I recommend you read this article:

            http://records.viu.ca/~johnstoi/essays/courtenay1.htm

            And the "FAQ":

            http://records.viu.ca/~johnstoi/essays/courtenay2.htm

It makes a good case for evolution and is a simple read.

Regarding the question that sahil112 originally put forward:

            1. It is not true that we only use 1% of our brain. Read: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/10%25_of_brain_myth

            2. I think natural selection in the human species has largely stopped with the advent of modern society. Thus I don't think we'll evolve further.

                are you fking serious?
this is exactly what im talking about you guys are brainwashed beyond measures.
Those people were actually the smart ones and you were the one who made no sense.
you can only see evolution when you look at the posters in your biology class and thats how far it goes and stops.

                  The entire scientific community?

Brainwashed? I spent weeks reading on the internet. I read the objections laid forward by the creationists and found that half of them were lies and the other half were pseudo science and misunderstandings, all answered by the scientific community. Remember, when I initially started reading about evolution, I was against it. Nobody told me to believe anything, I found out for myself. This at a time when ALL my friends were arguing the contrary.

AFAIK you weren't present at the discussions so how can you possibly make this statement?

No, there is plenty of information on evolution available right here on the internet. I'm not talking about posters, I'm talking about thousands of pages of information. Did you read the article I posted? I'm not trying to brainwash anyone, you can read the article, the FAQ and if you still have objections you can post them right here.

                      @ GOE

i would also like to add that when we mate dont we tend to look for certain traits in the person we want to mate with etc? isnt this a form of selective breeding which goes towards natural selection?

sahil since you are muslim it should be obvious that animals are animals and human beings are human beings.
you cant come tell me you do believe in evolution theory and yet want to tell me that human beings are not animals.

let me give you an example:animals are not responsible for what they do(unless they are living in an environment with human beings such as dogs being killed after they attack a person).
Animals dont kill to have their hunted animals head on a wall they only kill when they need to eat or protect themselves.

we dont breed thinking to have a more higher "evolved" child.

we are all creatures of allah, difference is we are a different form from animals

like you said evolution theory, there are different theorys, i belive in evolution but dont belive we are animals.

i agree we dont think like that when we breed but we still look for traits when breeding do we not? dont these traits get passed on through breeding?
what would you like your wife to be like?

Sahil - when you say you believe in evolution, do you believe in the common ancestor theory and that we were once just some primordial soup?

no i belive that allah made us and then after that we started our evolution and now we have ended where we are now but still evolving some more than others
