Your Uzbeki Balkh is not a Pashtun area.

Turis and Jajis are firece Pashtuns today, because they got rid of hamsaya status and acquired the areas by conquest, they were already speaking Pashto before 1702.......after that , they lived by Pashto. Pashto (Pashtunwali) is not acquired by birth, it is an influence and code.

Following are the other tribes who are not Pashtuns by lineage but are part of Pashtun nation

    1- Swati
    2- wardak
    3- gandapur
    4- Mashwani
    5- Ushtarani
    6- Farmuli etc
Mr. Marwat Lohani Hindu, it seems like you are offended by the fact that Pure Pashtuns live on the Afghan side rather than the paki side. I don't know why this infuriates you so much considering genetics proves Afghan Pashtuns have less hindu admixture unlike KPK Pashtuns. I'm not the one to create barriers among Pashtun tribes, you are. You're the one springing british propaganda out of your ass trying to claim Zazi and Turis as "fake" Afghans because your former masters said so.

I can also care less about who you think is a Pashtun or not, but honestly who the hell are you or the british to say which tribes are Pashtuns and which are not? Keep your opinions to yourself, all those tribes are Afghan/Pashtun by origin whether you like it or not.

And please don't talk about Balkh, your Lakkhi Marwat and kpk in general can never reach the historical status that Balkh has. In Afg, your people are seen as weak and inferior since they surrendered to the British. I also advise you not to quote me if you are going to be emotional, it seems when someone doesn't agree with you, you will go on a hissy fit with insults and name calling. There is a reason you get banned all the time, get the damm picture!

Although i agree Gandapur people has mixed Pashto with local saraiki(not all but only some words) but i believe still by blood they are true pashtuns.

They carry a typical pashtun look, which is quite different from any other ethnicity of Pakistan except GB/Kashmir or the Hindko people of hazara.

It is natural for the Pashtuns in Pakistan to have slightly more indian content and similar it is also natural for pashtuns on Afghanistan side to have more iranic content because Pashtuns on pakistan side border indic people and on afghanistna side they border iranic people.

So it is wrong to say that a Pakistan Pashtun with slightly more indic content is not pashtun or Afghanistani Pashtun with slightly more tajik content is not pashtun but dirty farsiband.

Dont go by looks. Gandapurs are descendents of a Syed with pashtun wife.

Many Pashtuns have married non-Pashtun women.

Believe in racial purity is a new concept only made popular by Europeans in late 18th and 19th century.

These ignorant idiots raised in secular families believe in false concepts originating from Europe about racial purity.

As History of Pashtuns rightly pointed out, many Pashtun tribes aren't even related to Pashtuns. They are non-Pashtuns who have adopted Pashtunwali after moving into Pashtun populated areas.

We witness the same process with many Pashtuns living in Persian dominated regions like Mazar, Kabul, Herat and some places in Pakistan. They claim to be Pashtuns but can't speak Pashto.

A good example would be a certain member of this forum who doesn't know any Pashto and yet is very persistent in claiming to be one.

I I find it quite ironic how a Pashtun from Khybee calls Balkh non Pashtun land when until Mahmud Ghaznavi's time Khyber was Gandhara pretty much apart of India.

I find it funny how Da Bannu tries to look smart by throwing around terms like iranic. The Pashtun natural look is Iranic because Pashtuns are east Iranic people!

There are four tribes in Khugiani......Darman, Parba, Turi and Jaji, but almost every source has doubts about the last two as being true Khugiani.
What the Turi say does not make it true or factual. Since there is no written record, they could say anything they want. one day they are descendants from moghul brothers, another day they are from persia, and another day they are from Nilab, and then there is also the story about a Qizilbash converting them to Shiaism. There is also the story about one of their masher going to Mecca for Haj and on they way back he stopped in Karbal and converted to Shiaism and then returned and convinced his whole tribe to convert. But these are all speculations since there is no primary written record.

You have to remember that the Turis are surrounded by enemies from all sides and historically, they have sided with invaders in exchange for protection. To the Iranians they say they are orginaly persian, to the Moghuls they say they are descended from Moghul Brothers, to the Brits they tell them their version of Shiaism like Christianity.

Your sources are relying on Oral records rather than written records.

They used to migrate annaully during the summer to Kurram valley, remained there as vassals of Bangashs. They subsequently got involved in a fight with Bangash over the elopment of a Turi woman with a Bangash. As a result they expelled some of the neighbouring Bangash clans and got settled there permenantly.

If the Turis and Zazis came from Nilab and used to migrate to Kurrum and then eventually settled there, then why are there no Zazis in Kurrum. There are a small amount that live in Kurrum but they are recent migrants who went there after the creation of Pakistan. There are more Mangal that live in Kurrum than Zazis.

I t makes more sense that the Turis migrated down from the mountains. Zazis to this day migrate down in the winter time and then go back up in the summer time. Same with Mangal.

This is not true. Outside of FATA, i have a hard time understanding pashtuns in Pakhtunkwa. One they use too many Urdu words and two they speak at the tip of the tongue and have that urdu accent.

But ya, the pashtuns you refer to that prefer to speak farsi are kabuli pashtuns and in provinces like Farah. But the East, South and Kunduz are 99% pashtun speaking.

@Kushan Prince You are claiming that Pashtun Luhanris are originally Lohana caste of Hindus. Let me correct you academically

The Lohanis or Lohanris of Afghans are descendants of a Person by name of Isu Khan who was popularly known as Nuh or Noah. His descendants are called Nuhanis. The correct word is Nuhani or Nuhanri as mentioned by Muhammad Hayat Khan and linguist H.G.Raverty. Like in case of some other Semitic languages, the "n" in Nuh is some times changed to "l", thus Luh or Luhanri. The last mode of writing the name is comparatively modern. In no historical work, even written in India before the reign of Aurangzeb Alamgir, will it be found written otherwise than Nuhani or Nuhanri. (Raverty, notes, p-485)

Muhammad Hayat Khan in his book Hayat-i-Afghani explains the difference between a Powandah and a sauda-gar. The latter is a wandering nomad. The Hindu and Sindhi Lohana/Memon caste would be a sauda-gar. The Lohanas/memons of Gujarat are Vishyas Hindus or converted ones of Dravidian stock , one of the four major castes of Hindus was assigned caste of trading. Unlike Powandas and Kochis, they are not nomads and lack martial attributes. If you go by similiarities of names, Lohana is also a tribe of Jats and is also a sub-tribe of balochs.

About Kashytria Rajput origin of Marwats. H.B.bellow came up with it, but you need to remember that he assigns Rajput origin to every Pashtun tribe, even to your Kakar tribe. You need to update yourself that his Rajput origin of Pashtun theory is rejected by all other scholars and historians.

Nowadays Kochis are mostly Ghilzai clans , but in old times Lohani was almost synonymous with powandah before they permanently settled down. Not just Luhanis and Ghilzais, but Gandapurs, Pannis, Lunis etc were also part of Powandah community.
